  1. As a follow up...my PB installed the Glass Media even though I asked him not to...and I've had nothing but trouble. I won't go into the details, but my advice is to RUN FAR AWAY from anything Ecosmarte Offers
  2. Ok thanks for the guidance....don't want things exploding that is for sure!
  3. Well your CYA is really high, meaning you will need a TON of chlorine to keep her in good shape, right now you are sitting at 0. I would try to get your chlorine levels up ... perhaps a few gallon of bleach and then retest. How does circupool know your cell is working ?
  4. Sure, I am at work and the pool is SUPER DIRTY as the plumbing has not been completed yet and the concrete work is not done, etc. But if you can deal with all that I will snap a few pics tonight!
  5. Ha, I did the same color, it totally rocks and looks AWESOME ! LOVE IT! Best of luck.
  6. Oh cool...assuming you stuck with the Thursday Pools? Reason I ask is that I just did an extensive evaluation and I choose Thursday Pools as well...lots of reasons, but man it is one solid fiberglass pool!
  7. Well kind of personal in my opinion...I just built a new pool and went with Fiberglass...I think it will be perfect for us. If installed properly you will really have minimal issues with the pool body itself.
  8. Wow tough open ended question. Just for the pool itself ? All related stuff, like filter. heater etc. What size, what material, fiberglass, etc. Sorry - but so many variables....
  9. Hopefully as a follow up...similar question, my pool guy wants to use "glass pak" sand for my Waterco ExoTuf T-600 24" sand filter. Is this "glass pak" stuff the same stuff you told the OP to RUN FROM ? Even though above EcoSmarte seems to be saying it is the holy grail ? Don't want to start a war, just trying to understand. Should I insist on just regular old pool sand ?
  10. So first of all thanks to all the great information related to pool chemistry in this forum...LOVE IT! My pool guy tried to sell me an UPGRADE on a Ecosmarte System - almost considered it, so thanks again. A bit of background...in ground fiberglass pool, 14,000 gallons, NE Ohio (4 months swim season), Heat Pump & Sand Filter with two speed motor. I've had a pool when I was much younger and remember the issues with stabilized chlorine and CYA levels, etc...so I want to be careful of course. I was just planning on using the BBB method. HOWEVER my pool guy, who is relatively trustworthy, is almost INSISTING that I at least install a Automatic inline tablet feeder to "supplement" my bleach. His reasoning... With the short season, CYU should not massively buildup and since I travel a bunch having an automatic feeder (with stabilized chlorine) set on low will allow me to maintain decent levels without having to worry about the wife figuring out the test kits, etc. He claims that I would not STUFF the feeder with 100 pucks, just a few and set it on LOW and then use my bleach to top off levels, etc. I almost want to stay 100% away from the "automatic" stabilized route as I really don't want to drain and refill, as I live in the country and refilling a pool is not cheap. The auto feeder is only $100 or so, but still I am not sure there is any value in it. I guess I could use these calcium hypochlorite tablets, but WOW are they expensive. http://www.poolandspasupplystore.com/servlet/-strse-1581/Cal-dsh-Hypo-3-inch-Tablets/Detail?gdftrk=gdfV21867_a_7c234_a_7c539_a_7cS3300 If my thinking is wrong - please help me clear my brain. Thanks in advance....
  11. Well I hate to waste money, but the idea does make sense...just looking for some input and it looks like I do have some solid input. So thanks very much !!
  12. Ok...makes sense. I really can't find anybody that has experience with it...the concept makes sense...but hoping to find someone with experience. Thank you very much for your comments, at least it makes me feel good that you are thinking along the same lines as I am.
  13. Hello...been lurking for a while, filling pulling the plug (bad pun in this forum) on a new inground pool. Anyone have any experience with the "Centrifugal" pre-filters such as the Waterco MultiCyclone ? For a few hundred bucks up front, it looks like this could really help out...or is it just a marketing hype and a waste of money ? Thanks in advance
  14. So I have been lurking around here for some time...finally building a pool and have a few questions on stuff that I can't find in search. I have a potentially high water table, so our builder (who has built quite a few pools in the area with lots of success) is recommending a "snorkle vault" under the pool that will help accumulate any ground water. He says I really don't need a full time sump pump, because the "vault" will contain a tube that runs to the surface and IF the water gets super high the water will simply escape the top like a straw in a squeezed cup. He says I CAN add a pump, but really a portable pump for if/when you need to train the pool is all that is needed. Sounds like he is doing a good job not to oversell me...but does anyone have an comments/thoughts on the above ? Thanks in advance.
