  1. Hello, I have a question. Let's say I have a house with a screened-in pool in Florida. The deep end is about 5-6 feet deep currently. I want to make the deep end about 10 feet deep and add a spring board diving board. Is this project possible and about how much will it cost? Will there have to be new plumbing installed? I will likely remove the screen structure and replace it with a new one. Also, do people ever winterize pools in Florida or do they leave them open all year round?
  2. Are there any advantages or disadvantages to having a Concrete Pool? I am looking to have a pool built that is 10+ feet deep. Are there any other options for the type of pool if I want it to be 10+ feet deep at one end? such as, has anyone ever seen a 10+ foot deep fiberglass or vinyl pool? From what I have been reading, a fiberglass pool is the cheapest type of pool to maintain, mainly because of low maintainance fees and never having to replace the liner. Just wondering if a Concrete Pool would require about the same maintainance as a fiberglass pool or more. When I think of concrete pools, I think of southern california and people skateboarding in pools, and also I think most commercial/community pools are concrete, it doesn't seem like a concrete pool would require a lot of maintainance. Also, would a Concrete pool be more expensive to buy and have installed than a fiberglass one or less?
  3. Which type of pools should I be looking at if I want a pool that is 10-12' deep? Concrete, fiberglass, vinyl, or some other type.
  4. Absolutely, I would consider moving to a new state if I was able to get a great deal on a custom pool. It would have to be significant though to override all other factors. Where is it cheaper to buy a custom pool, or a good predesigned pool, and have it installed, FL, VA, NC, SC, GA, CA, AZ, TX, TN, AL, NV, OR, CO, or MO? I personally want a pool with a deep end of 8'+ so I can have a good diving board. I would want it to be either a fiberglass or concrete pool, probably fiberglass.
  5. If someone wants to buy and have installed a brand new inground pool (maybe even a custom one), is it cheaper to buy a brand new inground pool and have it installed in one part of the country versus another? (in the U.S.) As far as I know, a nice inground pool might cost between $20,000-$40,000+ (installed) depending where you live. I hear a new inground pool might cost more in a place like California than it would in a place like VA, NC, GA, or FL. Anybody know if it would be cheaper in one place or another, even outside of the geographical areas I have mentioned? I want an inground pool that is a minimum of 8' deep so that I can have a diving board.
  6. Once you actually have an inground pool in your backyard, how many hours per week would a good owner spend taking care of it and cleaning it? Also, depending on where you live geographically and the weather, is it 100% necessary or smart to cover up and stop using the pool when it gets cold outside? Can an outdoor inground pool with a heater be used Year-round even if you are in, let's say New York state or even further north? How much more maintainance does an inground pool with a heater require and how much is a heater, because I don't see many outdoor pools with heaters nowadays.
  7. The difference between these two types of water: Any reason for the differing color of the water other than algae? Maybe sunlight or other matter in the water?
  8. Further up the coast, like from Central Florida all the way up the East Coast, the ocean is Very Dark Blue and you cannot see thru it....down in South Florida and in the Caribbean, the ocean water is a much lighter Blue/Green and it is Clear, meaning you can see thru it in most places. I know it has something to do with the algae, but I was wondering if there was an actual name for that type of water or if it was called something specific.
  9. What do they call the Blue/Green/Clear water found on the coast in South Florida such as Miami and all throughout the Caribbean? Is there a specific name they call it or how do they describe it?
  10. Does anybody know if there are any rules, regulations, or laws having to do with having a Commercial Diving Board installed at my own personal/residential pool at my house? In reality, I don't have a pool right now, but I am planning on possibly having a custom one made. I want a "low-dive", maybe 1 meter high spring-board diving board. I want it to be one of the ones that you see at community swim clubs, one that you can get a lot of pop off of. Also, would I be allowed to install a "Commercial Pool" in my back yard and have a "high-dive" which is about 3 meters high, if I have a deep end of 10-12 feet? Anybody know anything about Regulations, Insurance, and Laws that might be relevant to what I am trying to build? Anybody know where I might be able to buy a Commercial 1 meter high Spring-board? Links would be helpful.
