  1. I have a natural gas lrz heater that is reading the wrong temp. Reads 93 when water is 80 ish, it turns on if I set the dial higher than 93 but its getting worse so I would like to fix it. Should I just replace the temp sensor or can I clean it or someething? Or is it another issue entirely? Thanks a lot
  2. " 1 908 355-7665" is the wrong number. That number is for a residential address, not associated with hayward at all. The Hayward tech support correct number is 1-908-355-7995
  3. Installed a brand new Hayward Super pump VS2hp and it ran for about 30 minutes before it stopped and it is now flashing "err64" which is a short circuit failure. Is this just the breaker that tripped or something internal to the unit? Any idea what would cause this sort of thing or a fix? Capacitor change maybe? Thanks in advance for any help.
  4. " You can try throttle-ing the gas valve a little(the one on the outside of the heater) to get the whistle to stop, but you didn't hear that from me. " Thank you it worked
  5. I believe they are called springtails, similar to gnats. Try spraying them with soapy water. I heard about these but have never seen them myself- shock doesnt seem to kill them but the soapy water will.
  6. CYA only helps make the chlorine in the pool last longer, if your readings have been hi this entire time and you still have algae then adding CYA wont solve the problem. It will just make you use less chlorine later on. Metal based algaecides DON'T stain liners especially when you use them according to the labeling and they work so much better than Poly. If the algae is still not gone and your phos levels are low or zero with hi chlorine levels, just use the silvercide or copper 7 according to the labeling.
  7. Thanks for the help. I ended up finding a used blower and just changed the whole thing out- problem solved. Its making a whistling sound now but ive heard that the older blowers will do that so I guess there isn't much I can do unless I find a new used blower. I'm saving the old bad blower and will take it apart in the winter to see if there is anything obviously wrong with it that I can fix.
  8. Thanks Spa Guru: I apply power to the heater, it goes through its sequence then the " check Heater" light comes on and the temp is displayed on the display but the blower never turns on. I checked it this morning again and it does say AFI near the light- The blower motor looks like the mice used it for a toilet and it sparked when I tried to disconnect the white wire connection leading to it. My buddy tested it with a volt meter and said there is power going to the motor so he recommended replacing the entire blower system. They are expensive so I want to be sure that is the problem. I'll check the fuses again but I am pretty sure they are ok. The motor itself does still spin so maybe its just a part of the motor and not the entire thing that needs to be replaced?
  9. Make sure your testing for free chlorine- as Scott mentioned your chlorine may be locked up if there is too much cyanoric acid aka conditioner in the pool. Since you are vacuuming to waste and still having this problem that may not be the case. You could try going to 10ppm with liquid shock and then following up the next day with some silver or copper algaecide once chlor levels have returned to normal- polys are kinda weak. Be very very careful with them as they stain and read all the directions on the bottle before using.
  10. Hello, I am having an issue with a Max-e therm heater. Some mice got inside and chewed up some wires so I reconnected what seemed to be all of them but I am still getting error code R-9 which I read in this forum is a boot up message. I opened the display to reveal the motherboard and I am seeing a red light on what appears to be CR15. A tiny little connection on the board that doesnt look fried or anything. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Maybe I am misreading the label but its hard to tell what number is for what connection. It could also be U11 but cr15 looks closer. PS there is another red light and a green light on but they are showing through from the otherside of the display. Thanks for any and all help
