  1. Same, I live with a house full of college aged sweaty guys. I make everyone rinse off by the hose if we just got done working out, other than that I just shock it a little more after a heavy bather load. After maxing it out *8-9 people* Its a toss of a coin if its even worth keeping that water depending how long its been in there.
  2. Thank you! I bled it out today one quick turn and air rushed out and a small drops of water. My hot tub is now running and heater is on with no problems. Doing a quick test to see if I put the temperature probe back in right and see if the water gets a little warmer. I will then turn heat off balance it when put heat back on. You guys are the best you saved me a lot of money and hassle. Is there a way to donate to the site I would love to give some back?
  3. So I should unscrew the union that is located before the heater?
  4. Got everything replaced, heater hooked back up everything tightened and filled tub up. When I try to run pump one sounds like no water is getting through and no bubbles come out the tub. Pump two purged all its water. I have checked both cut off valves and pull them down and up and it seems like the heater section is still cut off from everywhere else. Any suggestions?
  5. Thanks! on the heater it says 1 1/2 does that mean my pipe is 1 1/2 inches so I need to get 1 1/2 inch gaskets?
  6. Sorry for the bump, my other post has all those pictures. Would this heater element work? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Spa-Heater-10-Teflon-Coated-Hot-Tub-Element-5-5KW-120-240V-25-4034ET-/261223160274?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cd21d19d2
  7. Yup I feel dumb.... I got it off only alittle bit of water left in there which is good. So now I need to order the element and put it in. I am attaching photos of the balboa pipe will any heating element at 5.5kw work? Sorry for the picture size I tried resizing them Also, I believe the device that monitors if water is running through the heater, I seen a video where someone just unscrewed it then screwed it back in. Do I need to take that off or can I just leave it attached? I was unsuccessful in unscrewing it by hand and did not want to break it.
  8. Thanks for the info. So I can simply just unscrew the heater from the two white nuts on each side?
  9. Hi, so I have been really busy and have not got around to replacing the element. I am to the part where I need to take the heater off the plumbing. http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/ff448/supermasterpig/IMAG0778_zpsef85baf2.jpg Are the white rings what I need to undo to take the heater off? If so the ring on the right has two screws I can unscrew, the one on the left has the screws facing towards the tub. Is there an easier to take it off? I am wondering if even a professional would be able to do it in such a small clearance. If I called someone out to take it out and replace it what would be a fair price? I am really nervous about the amount especially since its only about $50 for a new element.
  10. Well that is much cheaper than the heater itself. I read a tutorial and it seems pretty straight forward. Where is the best place to buy a heating element?
  11. I think I understand what you are saying for the most part. The heating element is this ? I do believe the cut off valves should work but I can always drain it, is there a way to check to make sure heater is working without filling up water *I assume no because the pumps would try to run*. I will give it a look some time this week and see what I am up against. You did say its pretty straight forward so I should be able to get it. Thank you for the help will keep you posted.
  12. I appreciate your concern preservedswine *like the user name* I know I came off sounding like I don't know my head from my arse. I did help wire it and have taken the ground for the heater off the board. I googled the part to get an estimate and seen a pipe that looked like one I have so I figured that's what the element is. When ever I do this work I flip off the spa breaker outside as well as the breaker inside. I also work on computers and soldier and do small electrical work on them. I know it is not the same but I think with some guidance I can do it. I tend to be cautious more than anything so I am confident I can fix it. if I feel like I am getting in to deep I will call someone in. None the less just ordering the part would save me money.
  13. Hi everyone, After troubleshooting why my breaker was tripping it was found out (much to the help of everyone here) that my heating element has gone bad. How do I replace it, I have a 2000 great lakes spa Manistee, my board says balboa. I have seen some balboa's for around 125 on the internet. My questions are: 1. Is the heating element a pipe? 2. How do I order a replacement *is there a code somewhere* 3. How do I take old one off and replace it with new one. Thank you for all the help.
  14. I am sorry to bump my thread but I don't really know how to move forward from here and my hot tubs been unused for two weeks.
  15. Can anyone help me replace the heating element. Is there a serial number somewhere on it that I can look up the part for it. As well as how do I take it apart and replace it.
  16. I guess it depends on your blower. I found my exact model on ebay for $100. It should be real easy to install. Take out the bolts holding it to the hot tub frame, unplug the power cord from the board. Put new one in bolt it down, plug it in and you should be set. That was what I was told on here when I was looking for one at least. There should be a big pipe that you have to twist out or some are screwed into the blower. that's the pipe that the air goes into.
  17. I bought a used hot tub it didn't work after I got it over to my house *there is a post about the adventure somewhere* After getting on here and asking everyone it turned out to be a bad blower. I am not sure what was bad on it but it would cause it to trip. They are about 100 bucks online if you want to replace it. I have yet to replace mine but very well may.
  18. You my friend are 100% correct! I just undid the heating element, it works again. How do I go about replacing it?
  19. I take it the hot tub is used? If it is new contact the dealer, it sounds like the blower is bad and causing a short in the system.
  20. Update: I tried turning it on after disconnecting various items, pump 1, pump 2, fiber optics. I opened the wiring panel nothing looks blown but every time I flip the breaker it instantly trips no delay.
  21. Hi everyone, I have been reading the posts about everyone's breakers tripping but they mostly say it at least turns on for a couple seconds before it trips. As soon as I flip my outside breaker it trips. This just started happening, it was last used about a week and a half ago. When I first got the hot tub *used* it turns out the blower was bad and tripped the breaker, I unplugged the blower and that fixed that issue, now I am not sure what is causing the hot tub to instantly trip. I will say that about a month ago I had a couple buddies over and they are all bigger guys and caused water to over flow a good amount *couple gallons* the next morning I seen the breaker was tripped since then I havn't had a problem. Any ideas or where I should start? I have been battling a plumbing issue so it looks like no rest for the wicked.
  22. The service guy I called about my problem offered to help me over the phone, he said the best thing to do is what Dr. Spa said, try testing all the items I first tried the pump 1 then pump 2 heater so on and so forth until I confirmed it was the blower he saved me alot of money.
  23. My spa would trip after starting to run for about 10 seconds or so. My blower went bad and when it was plugged in it would cause the gfci to trip. I unplugged the blower from the power panel and havn't had a problem since. I don't know if this could even be remotely close for you but this is what happened to me.
  24. I had seen this posting on ebay. What does everyone think?
  25. Thank you Chem geek, I was able to buy 4lbs of bromine tablets online for the same price of 1 1/2 lbs in store.
