  1. I am just curious because we don't have am la spa dealer in our are so I don't compete with them and I could not find it on their web site, what is their warranty?
  2. I don't care about vita or manufacturers I have never heard of. my point was that california cooperage was not started by two brothers in the late 60's and coleman always has done tp insulation. maax purchased coleman in sept of 98 and was using tp w/ a wood frame. Cliff branch founded california cooperage. you just seemed to be really condensing you history and throwing stuff out there that is not true. that is why i asked how long you have been selling coleman. we have been selling coleman since day 1. we were a california cooperage dealer before coleman bought them. I will make you a copy of a california cooperage prospective dealer brochure that details the historry of California cooperage.
  3. when they were formed they were selling complete round redwood tubs with jets and equipment, and yes they were tinkering with redwood tubs before 74 . coleman has always had a form of tp insulation, well before maax bought them. in 2003 they switched to the gavalume, but they have had tp for quite a long time. they did totally redesign their tubs in 03 but maax had already owned them for a number of years and they did not go from a wooden frame full foam to a steel frame tp only when maax bought them. how long have you sold coleman? we still have original california cooperage brochures from the 1970's if you want to know about it's history. e-mail me and i'll send you some copies.
  4. dan is correct, all other spas bypass the filters with some of the water, but most turn over the entire body of through the filters many times during a filtration cycle which imho is what matters. I agree with michael 100% no bypass does not necceasarily equate to a cleanr spa, it definitely does not hurt, but there are many other factors involved.
  5. Maax is a canadian company, and did not take over coleman spas until 1998-99. California cooperage was actually established in 1974 in San luis Obispo. they were tinkering with redwood tubs before that but the company actually wasn't formed until '74 my boss worked for cal coop as a sales manager, and then bought the retail showroom at the factory in san luis, right before coleman bought them, we then signed up to be one of the first coleman spas dealer's in the country. our showroom is down the street from the old cal coop factory(which is now a goodwill wharehouse) colemans were actually produced in san luis for two years until they moved to Chandler. Coleman does make a round spa called the 103. not a bad tub comfort wise but I fell it lacks jets, only 11. a lot of round tubs have 19-21 jets.
  6. Round tubs are geat tubs for many of the reasons you mentioned. wet test the tubs as they all can vary in the seating depths and legroom. a 6' diameter tub can get cramped with more than two people, especially if they are tall. the round tubs are designed after your traditional wooden tub, but with modern materials. you will not find typically the large amounts of jets and bells and whistles with a lot of the round tubs, but most who are looking at the round tubs aren't neccesarily looking for all of that. I do not have much experience w/nordic or great northern but i have heard nordic makes a good round spa. Jacuzzi and sundance each have a round spa in their lines which have 19/20 jets respectively, a good layout, a decent warranty, and backing of a major spa manufacturer. again, wet test if possible.
  7. the gravel does not need to be packed down, however I usually advise customers to have a frame around the gravel to keep it in place and a minimum of 4" of gravel is best
  8. hey matt, I would ask that dealer if he is willing to warranty the spa personally as the jacuzzi warranty is not transferable. i would offer them 2700-3000 as spas like cars depreciate considerably after one year even if it's like new. that spa would have retailed for 4400-4800 most likely in 04. typically we charge out here in CA. 250-400 for a spa move depending on diffuctuly and distance spa is being moved. the spa is a 4 person max. and check when actually purchased they chanfged the model # to j-325 in 04, j-320 is an 03 model the difference is 04 is 110/220 with 1.5 hp pump and the 03 is 220 only with a 2.5 hp pump. it could be a late 03 purchased in 04
  9. I agree, just enjoy, you have a great warranty so don't worry, you bought a top of the line, excellent spa. It will give you years of great performance.
  10. I am sorry you have had this experience. Jacuzzi does make a good tub. every manufactured product has the potential for problems. It sounds like your dealer did not go to bat for you. unfortunately any synthetic siding has the potential to fade in direct sunlight over time. the warping is not right. you need to tell your dealer right away and ask for the panels to be replaced, It's doubtful that Jacuzzi will replace the entire tub for the siding having problems because all of the siding can be replaced. It definitely should not have taken 2 years to get the tub replaced. again this goes back to your dealer. Jacuzzi rely's on their dealers to be their eye's and ears to resolve Problems just like any manufacturer that doesn't sell direct to the end user. the fact you could not get any one to even come out and investigate your complaint's is a shame. I certainly understand your frustration.
  11. I am writing this post in response to a post in the "I bought artic..." thread by smilinbare I believe it was. he asked how many dealers are active on the forum versus consumers. So I thought I would share in the interest of full disclosure. I am a service technician for Coleman spas and Jacuzzi spas we sell both at my company. I also do sales and deliveries. I try to give accurate advice, and my opinion about the products i sell and other products I compete against, because I feel those are the ones I know best. I think the products I sell are quality products, and I also think there are many other quality spas out there as well. so with all this out in the open feel free to value or discard my opinions, because that is what they are just opinions. educated ones I hope, but opinions none the less.
  12. I think the Coleman will be less to operate than the D1, unless you sell D1. the Coleman jet pump comes on on low speed for a time the consumer determines, and to heat as necessary throught out the day, or not if you put the spa into economy mode. there are a lot of variables to figuring out energy costs so energy consumption can vary greatly even with the same model in different geographic locations and user habits.
  13. I am a coleman tech as well, so what do you feel are the plentiful problems? Like any manufacturer out there with a lot of tubs in the field there are going to be warranty calls. Is there one pattern of problems in Particular?
  14. Stay away from coleman, problems are plentiful. and what would those problems be? I certainly beg to differ. Coleman by maax makes a quality spa and backs it up with a great warranty. have you bought one recently and had problems, do you retail them, have you had a bad experience with a dealer. Please elaborate if you don't mind.
