  1. Not been in the tub tonight as it is raining very heavily. Do you go in your tubs in the rain. Yes it is nice to get to chat to your other half about your day etc. & unwind together. Our Tivo machine is working extra hours now as it gets to 9.00pm and we are out in the tub instead of watching the t.v. The other good thing is that my husband isn't playing on his computer on the 'Eve game'. I hate that game, it takes him ages to switch it off as he has to land or whatever the technical term is and whenever I ask him to do something he always give me a time when he can do it according to whatever "mission" he's on. (I know it's a girl thing & I don't understand the importance of the seriousness of the game...... whatever) My parents are going to have a dip tomorrow night, they normally come down on a friday as my dad & husband watch a film (husbands a film buff too as well as the computer). So I guess with the arrival of the hot tub I am getting some quality time with him now. Bet it won't be long before he suggest moving the screen out into the garden so he can watch a film in the tub. The cost of the tub in the uk was 13,250 dollars working on the exchange rate of 1.77 which is what the dollar is at the moment. They are much, much, much cheaper in the USA. There are cheaper ones than Artic. The installation guy told me that spas come from Canada & are shipped over to the uk. My sister is up at the weekend to compair our spa to hers, they have an Artic too, but I can't remember which one it is, it's an 8 person one, but only has one lounger, it will be strange going in the tub in the daylight, just hope the weather gets a bit warmer Have a good weekend guys. chez :-)
  2. WOW - having your own tub is great. We couldn't go in Monday night as the water wasn't warm enough. Was in last night, and just been in tonight. (I guess the novelty will wear off). Our installation guy said people average out going for a dip about 3 times a week. We have only been in my sisters hot tub (oh and on cruise ships) before & normally you are chatting away, but it is sooooo relaxing in your own tub. It does seem really big with just my husband & I in, but I guess once we have our friends round etc it will seem smaller. Canadian Kahuna - The ladies hockey team will have a long way to come as we live in the United Kingdom, but they are wellcome......... Chez :-)
  3. Thank you to those who replied to my topic about health in the the hot tubs a few weeks ago. We did purchase our spa that weekend and ordered an Artic Spa (klondiker Ultra) with a peak ozonator, which hopefully we should be able to use late monday night or an early morning dip before work on tuesday. Never have I wanted a weekend to pass by quickly. What made us choose Artic, the sales team were very knowlegeable (we had a list of questions) and they went to great lengths to check things out for me healthwise with my cystic fibrosis. We spent several hours in the showroom. My sister bought a hottub from the same showroom last year & she had noticed that one of the edges of the lid was always warm to the touch, and not quite meeting the edge of the tub when closed. They thought it would settle down with time but it hasn't. She mentioned it whilst we were in the showroom & the manager just said to call up on monday & speak to the lady that sorts problems out & they would just order another one for her. With aftersales like that the competition had come in second place & our business was given to Artic spas. I also noticed that Tom from Artic spas does answer many questions on this forum & indeed did answer my original post directly to me which I have just picked up tonight as I haven't actually needed to log in on the numerous occasion when I have visited the forums, so didn't realise that I had any messages (the uk forums are a little behind & don't have this facility). He gave me a few links to look at with regards to pseudomonas. Thankyou Tom for taking time out of your busy day to forward that info to me. I look forward to be able to be involved with forum once my spa arrives. Fellow hot tubber (as from monday) Chez :-)
  4. Hi, I'm new to your forum. We are just in the process of buying a spa (signing on the dotted line this weekend) & have done lots of research & thats when I discovered your site. I do have cystic fibrosis & we looked into getting a spa last year but my doctor at the hospital said a blanket no to all spas. (hotels, health clubs etc) They had no data on people who had their own spas & I don't think they realised how chemically clean your own spa is. My sister did go ahead & purchased a large spa & we go in it when we visit her house. I belong to a cf chit chat forum & have asked a question on there but as we live in england & spas are not as popular over here no one has their own spa. I did put a question up on the American cf chat boards & I had 6 replies from people who had no problems with using them. Sorry I have waffled on for a bit there. My question is to all you hot tub experts is what can I do keep my spa germ free. The main germ is pseudomonas which I believe can grow in spas. Any info greatly apreciated. Thank you Chez :-)
