  1. A quick thank you. I have started using a teaspoon of dichlor every third soak and my hot tub and I are both happy campers. Thanks again
  2. Wow, your fast--Thanks. The current temp on the topside does match with the thermometer. Just to be clear--I do NOT run the cleanup-cycle with the cover closed! We hang outside (enjoying the fire pit by night and doing yard work by day) for the 10 minutes it takes to run the clean cycle and close the cover after the jet are off. During that 10 minutes--the green "ready" light will turn off and back on several times. The green ready light only turns off when the topside temp is showing 2 degrees over the set temp.
  3. Sorry about the delay (pc issues) and thank you so much for your fast reply. I am Positive that the FreshWater Continuous Silver Ion Sanitizer Owner’s Manual says 1.5 Tablespoons of dichlor—not monopersulfate per 250 gals. For now, I have only been using that much dichlor during start up as per step 3 of Install the FreshWater ag+. Re: water getting cloudy quickly. For example, yesterday around noon the tub looked great and the test strip showed my MPS was okay. We did not use the tub last night and today the tub water is dirty again. GGGrrrr MPS (tested w/test strip) is okay, FC is 0, CC is 5+ (I assume mostly from the MPS), PH is 7.5 and TA is 80 (all tested with a Taylor test kit). This water is only 8 days old and it breaks my heart to open the cover and see this yucky water again. I will try your suggestion (as soon as I get the water clear again) and use one teaspoon of dichlor instead of the MPS when we get out of the tub. Thanks again for your help!!!
  4. Sorry for the delay (pc issues) and thank you for the replies. Re: through the winter when the temperature was very cold outside. This started in the winter and my tub is on a cement slap surrounded by cement block that is 2 feet below ground level so it makes sense that the thermostats might be picking up a lower temp (during the winter). I am in Albuquerque NM and our highs have only been in 80’s so far this year. Today, I ran the tub on two 10 minute clean cycles (outside temp 70*) and the tub went from 102 to 104 in that 20 minute time frame with the temp set at 101. Re: Are you certain the red led was flashing, and not the green, or both? 1) The Blue power light on the front of the tub was flashing and the water temp had dropped to 95 from 101. 2)I used a human digital thermometer to confirm the water temp is the same as the readout on the tub and it is. 3) I am not running the spa jets with the cover closed. The good news is that the tub has not tripped again but several times a week the tub is several degrees too hot when we go out to soak.
  5. I have a 2010 HS Vanguard and 8 months ago had one of the cup holder lights repaired. It worked for a week. Now the only additional lights that work correctly are the pillow lights--all the rest of the lights are either the wrong color or partially lit. My dealer is a not at all helpful (there is a 40.00 "service fee" for warrantee work) and my tub is sunk in a deck and only has access to the front panel. I live with mine--but it does tick me off from time to time.
  6. Hello, I have a year old HS and over the past month the water temp keeps going over the set temp. I have good water flow and clean the filters often but last week the heater high-limit thermostat tripped anyway. I have the tub set for either 101 or 102 and in the past it is usually 1 to 2 degrees over this temp (that I have learned to live with). But now when I am running the cleaning cycle the tub will get up to 105 and often will be 3 degrees over the set temp when we go out to get in the tub. Any ideas why? Thanks for your help.
  7. 8 months ago I bought a home that had a new (4 month old) HS Vanguard tub. The previous owner was using (and left me a supply of) Everfresh chemicals and I have done the same with mixed results (mostly good). I am using FreshWater silver ion—MPS—and sodium dichlor once a week. I use test strips for MPS only and a Taylor K-1004 Trouble shooter kit for FC, TC, PH and TA. My tap water test are: FC 0.5 TC 1 PH 7.2 TA 90 (city water website say my Calcium hardness is 148). My issues over the past 8 months are that ph and ta are always low or on the low end. I use a lot of ph up. If I leave the tub for a day or two it will turn cloudy/dirty looking and I have to shock with 2 ¼ tsp chlorine often. I plan to drain and refill the tub tomorrow and I have some questions. 1) I bought Leisure Time PH Balance in hopes of keeping my ph and ta from going low all the time. Is this going to work for me? 2) I have come to believe that I do not understand enough about the dichlor. My local dealer told me not to worry that I was getting zero readings on my chlorine. Is this right? Shouldn’t I have to have some chlorine in the water? I say this because my water quality goes south so fast even after following the owner’s manual water treatment guide. 3) The FreshWater silver ion instructions say to use 1.5 tablesoons of dichlor per 250 gals “as Needed” but HS manual says 1.5 teaspoons per 250 gals. How much should I be using and when? I know from reading that most of you are chlorine/bromide only fans but my husband has had skin issues with both of these chemicals and we were so happy to find out that this spa does not use either of these so we want to stick with the FreshWater system. Thank you for your help.
