  1. Go for the Covermate! I have never seen one break, and have worked on every spa I have had.
  2. That is normal. The filter on most spas are not made to remove the oil from the water. Its not caused from your chemicals, it is your body oils. When you get in the come off your body and stay in the water. SInce the filtration systems are not made to deal with the extra body oils all you need to do is add some clarifier to your spa and it will take the small oil particles and combine them in groups large enough so that the filter can remove them from the spa. Dont worry it happens in everyones spa. You just need to know what chemicals to take care of it. Good luck.
  3. I would try the light bulb but i would not do the heater thing. It will melt your piping or your fittings before it melts the ice enough to fix the problem. This will cause leaks!!! Talk to the dealer you bought your spa from and ask what they recomend. They might have anouther solution that is better suited for the spa you own. I would stay away from the space heater or heat gun in any situation. In my opinion it will create more harm than good.
  4. If your spa isnt ozone ready then you are in for a fun time. If it is then its pretty easy. i dont know what kind of ozonator Sundance uses, but they all do the same thing, just find one that fits in your cabinet and one that you like.
  5. Spa Rookie, The jet pack idea is an interesting one and Bullfrog has a following of satisfied customers. Here is how it works: the jet packs go into the same space that the others are taken out of. They are all contoured the exact same way. If the seat fits you then you are set because every seat they have in every spa will fit you. If it doesnt then every seat in every spa wont work for you. The jet packs dont adjust the contours of the spa or the hieght of the seats they only change where the jets hit you in any particular seat. If you ask around i think most people will verify what I am telling you here. Wet test! It might be good for both of you but it might not be. The jet pack will not make the difference however.
  6. Is your tester bad? Maybe you should try a different brand tester or test strips. Or possibly it might not go down because the city may put a buffer in the water in order to maintain a constant PH. Your city would know. As long as your PH isnt to high its not that big of a deal. Just do your best to keep it constant
  7. I agree that the full foam will increase your repair bill if something goes wrong because the repair person will have to get rid of all the foam in order to repair it and that takes a long time. The full foam probably doesnt save you a whole lot in energy costs but it will cost you if your tub needs repair. One more thing about fully foamed spas. They are filled with .5 pound poly eurathane foam. The .5 pound foam not only doesnt do a very good job of insulating compared to the 2 pound foam that others use it also absorbs water like a spounge. When you get a leak it will absorb lots of water and will start to stink if you dont get it taken care of. Id put my money on a properly insulated spa. You can get ones that use two pound foam over all the shell and the pipes then use a heat barrier to keep the inside of the cabinet warm. People will disagree that this is the best method but over time it will save you money and your spa will not stink if it ever gets a leak. The key is to just buy a good Spa, if you buy a good one it probably wont leak and you shouldnt ever need to have it repaired as long as you take care of it.
  8. Leave it on! The filter will last a lot longer if you do. Just spray it out once a week for a month, then every month soak it in the filter cleaner stuff you can buy at your dealer. if you do that it will last for a few years.
  9. I understand that Balboa locks its temperture so it will not go above 104 degrees. How do i get it to raise above that? Is there any way? I have been told that you can, but no one knows how to do it. Thanks, if you need to respond to my email for this thats fine. rapaz22@msn.com Thanks.
  10. I am looking at buying a Columbia Spa. Anyone know anything about them? I have some friends that have them and love them, but I just wanted more info. I am looking at the Summit model.
