  1. Thank you for the advice! I didn't think about the freezing factor... very possible that's what happened. The o-ring looked to be in good shape on the one wet end, so I lubricated and reinstalled it. It reduced the leaking tremendously, but still didn't completely seal. Is it possible if the wet end is leaking (which I know it is) and the pump is switched to high, increasing the rpms, that it could cause it to cavitate? Trying to figure out why the water would stop flowing through the wet end on high if the motor is still spinning and water flows normally through the wet end and out the jets when pump is operated on low... Thank you again!
  2. First off thank you all for your help and advice on this board! It is sincerely appreciated! I purchased a used spa from a friend which is a 2005 Jacuzzi brand J355. It has two pumps (two speed low/high "pump #1" Emerson T55MWCCE-1208) and a (single high speed pump which is "pump #2" Emerson T55SWBNC-999). Pump 1 operates normally at low speed, circulating the water, and you can see/feel it coming out of the jets as expected. As soon as you hit the button a second time to switch Pump#1 in to high speed, all circulation in the hot tub appears to stop. I can still see the motor turning, it does not slow down or lock up, but immediately the rush of water through the wet end cannot be heard, and all there is a low hum noise (although as I mentioned, I can visually observe the motor still turning). I went through the steps to make sure there is no air lock, although I would think that type of condition would demonstrate itself in both low/high pump speeds? In addition, both pumps are leaking slightly from outer screw cover of the wet ends. Any advice on part numbers to replace the wet ends would also be greatly appreciated! Thank you. Steve
  3. I've read some reviews and they seem to be 50/50... I'm just cautious about using it since once I do, its very hard to remove, and I may not be able to glue a joint if it needs to be cut because the tape will increase the diameter... Good luck and let me know how it works though please!!
  4. First off thank you all for your wisdom and assistance!! I have a LA Spas Paradise (about 800 gallons) which I have noticed the water leaking from. I pulled the side cover of and found a mouse/rat/squirrel has chewed a hole in approx. 3 of the supply lines that feed the jets in one of the seats. I can access the damaged parts of the hoses, but am unsure what the best method would be to repair. The hose is clear, red, and flexible - unlike the white "spa" hose I am seeing at home depot. First I am unsure of the diameter, and don't want to cut a piece out if I don't have to since that will be shortening the line and possibly make it difficult to repair. Is there a standard diameter for these types of clear plastic jet lines? Also, am I best off to try one of the "flex seal" types of products, or just cut it at the hole and splice? Any advice on the best way to splice that type of line as well? I see lots of videos online, but they all seemed to apply to the solid white corrugated flex hose.... Thanks again!!! Steve
  5. First off let me extend my thanks to all the folks that moderate and contribute to this board! I've done my fair share of reading as a spa newbie and have learned a ton. I'm trying to get a qualified opinion on wire gauge for my spa installation. I purchased a 2007 La Spas Paradise H2 for $2700... What I didn't factor in to the budget was the total cost of my wiring... I expected a few hundred and am looking at $700 or so. The spa requires a dedicated 50 amp GFCI service with four wires. The total run from my main breaker box to the spa is approx. 135'. Can I use #6 to go that distance or do I need to upgrade to #4? Also, will going with the #4 make the spa anymore efficient by decreasing electricity usage or possibly increase the speed that it heats? If I can go #6, this is the wire I'm looking to purchase. http://www.globalindustrial.com/p/electrical/wire-cable/wire/thhn-6-gauge-building-wire-stranded-type-orange Thanks again!!
