  1. Thanks Kreg, I actually purchased it from Nick. His location is a lot closer to Bloomfield. Should be in any day now.
  2. Just to set the record straight I didn't join here to defend Master, like I said in the first post was just looking for info from other people who own them on whether they are having any problems with them. The first posts I run into have some of the very people responding to this thread saying they would choose any other spa then a master. Obviously that peaked my concern knowing that the one I had worked flawlessly since 2002 and all I read on here is negatives about it. After doing hours of searches and reading I couldn't find one ounce of information as to why this is such a terrible brand of tub other then sales tactics and lack of dealer support. I wanted to inform anyone that may be doing a search that if they are thinking of purchasing a Master in the south east Michigan area to not be scared by any comments made on here and that they would have good dealer support. The apparent anymosity for something that served me very well was troubling and I felt I should throw my opinion out there for whatever that's worth. I guess calling out wasn't the term I realy meant because I really don't have any axe to grind with any of you, but I did expect a backlash of negativity that was so prevalent in the other threads. As far as my tub is concerned the cover is original and was in need of a new one for sure and it was VERY cold those couple of weeks here. The reason it happend I have no idea all I know is when I fill the tub it leaks from all kinds of joints and seals that I can see from the one panel being removed. This tub never leaked one drop of water before. When it came down to the insurance company either fixing the known problems to possibly find more in the near future or just replace the tub, they opted to replace it. I wouldn't accept a potential problem with a tub that was in perfect operation prior to the incident.
  3. Ya I didn't really care for the fraud comment, I've been called a lot of things but thats the first time I've been accused of being a criminal. Coming from a complete stranger I don't put a whole lot of weight to his opinion, yet it was still surprising. As far as a valid insurance claim I actually wasn't sure that it was a claim until I talked to a few higher ups in the insurance industry, again it's all in the coverage. My particular policy covers the loss while other policies with the same carrier wouldn't.
  4. I'm not sure how this thread is "calling anybody out" but since you asked the most likely situation is that your heating element went bad and caused the ground fault. It's quite easy to check with a multimeter. Losing power will not cause the breaker to trip. If anything it sounds like insurance fraud or maybe you have a very good insurance policy. This is the main point that I got from reading your initial post. Congrats on getting the new tub though. I don't really know what caused the breaker to trip, fact is the power did go out, do to the clocks flashing when we got back. Whether or not that was the cause of loss I don't really know. It was a good enough explanation for the insurance company. As far as insurance fraud that seems to be a pretty bold statement considering you have no idea who I am, or what I do for a living. I deal with insurance fraud on a regular basis.... it's all about having the proper coverage. I'm sure I'll be around here enough to give my biased opinion on why I think someone should buy a Master Spa.
  5. It's funny that I start a thread basically calling out all the people on here that have nothing but bad things to say about Master Spas and it's just crickets chirping? This is a perfect opportunity to really convince people to buy a different brand. From reading all the other threads on this sight and the "hot tub forum" the argument about power consumption seems to be strictly opinions. There is no real way to quantify the data with out having all the tubs in question in the same environment, running similar cycles. As far as I'm concerned with power consumption if you spend in upwards of $10,000 for a hot tub and are worried about +-$20 a month then you should really rethink your priorities.
  6. I just wanted to chime in to this forum after reading over all of the threads regarding Master Spas the last few days. I just want to throw my two cents out there for any potential buyers of there tubs. Out of all the links and threads on this forum I did not see one solid piece of fact as to why the build quality of a Master Spa is so less superior to some of the other top models. All I read was this is my opinion and there sales tactics are shady. What a bunch of garbage and I feel like I wasted hours of my time trying to find some shred of evidence to dissuade my decision to purchase another Master Spa. I would just like to say that if you are in the Metro Detroit area there are a couple very good local dealers that will be happy to sell and service a tub that you purchase from them. I purchased an LS700 seven years ago from one of the local dealers here and have never had one problem with the tub what so ever, not one! I take that back...the light burned out on my fiber optic lighting system. Over the past winter my family and I were out of town for a couple of weeks and we had a power outage that somehow tripped the breaker on the tub. Needless to say we came home to a frozen tub and to make a long story short my insurance company is buying me a new one. I have always purchased my chemicals from the same local dealer that I purchased the tub from and they gave me a very good deal on a new LSX. I honestly came on to this sight, after doing a Google search, to see if the new Master Spas are as good as my old one and all I could come up with is borderline childish bickering about tub x being better than Master Spa, agian with out one piece of evidence backing up there claim. I would just like to tell any potential Master Spa buyer to make sure that there is good dealer support in your area and don't be fooled by any of the jargon on the internet. Looking forward to the delivery of my new LSX. Very interested to see how the Solar powered circulation pump works out.
