  1. I just purchased a Dimension One spa. I don't have a big patio so I decided to install it in my backyard next to the house. I live in South Florida where houses are built on a foundation of crushed rock. They then put down a layer of sod. Over the years the soil from the sod merges into the top layer of crushed rock. The spa is around 8x8 so using a powered lawn raker, I removed most of the grass. I was then left with a muddy mess. I then put down about 16 bags of crushed rock. I tamped that down into the soil until it was next to the foundation. I then put down 24 bags of paver base sand. I tamped that down until it was firm. I then laid out 110 12x12 concrete pavers each about 2 inches thick. I put a plastic border around the whole thing that was attached to the ground using 8" spikes. After that was done, I spread fine finishing sand onto the pavers to fill the cracks. All told this took me the better part of the weekend plus yesterday afternoon. I spent about $400 in total and too many back breaking hours trying to put down something that would be stable enough to hold the weight of the spa. I am very concerned that this won't be stable enough and the spa will sink down. When I walk on the pavers they move slightly. I am concerned that the spa will crack the tiles under pressure and that since I created an deck that is 10x11 (110 pavers) and the spa is 8x8, that some pavers will sink and others will remain at their present height. In retrospect, I should have had a slab poured but I thought it would be much more expensive plus I have very limited access to my backyard due to fences and other houses very close to mine. I welcome your thoughts and any suggestions before I take delivery on Thursday. Thanks.
  2. That's good advice. They have this model in the showroom filled with water. I can go there and try it out. Thanks.
  3. As you said, its personal preference. I dont envision holding parties in the tub. There is room for 5 including the 2 loungers. Do you have any thoughts on loungers versus seated massage chairs? I have heard that loungers might not be as effective because the body tends to float. I have not had that problem when lounging in other hot tubs.
  4. The design of the tub is what I like about it. I think it is perfect for my wife and I. There is also room for more people which make it more attractive. I am not into all the extras like waterfalls, stereos, lighting, etc. I am most interested in fuctionality. The two lounges are great and there is also the Sportszone seat.
  5. Is this a great deal or just a good deal? $7k is alot of money for a spa. I looked at the Costco website and they sell for around $3-4k plus addon and installation might bring it up another $1k. I also looked at Ebay. There are a couple of companies selling them. One is in Tennessee. They sell for anywhere from $3-4k. I just dont know what you are getting for that. I know that with the Dimension it is at the highend of the spa scale. The construction is superior and the parts are much better. Your thoughts?
  6. Ok but it might show the same amount as they would charge me. What I am really interested in is if the price is reasonable for the unit. I know that Dimension Spas are at the higher end of the price spectrum but was hoping that someone would be able to inform me what they go for normally or if someone purchased one recently if this price is considerably lower. I am sure that I can see an invoice. I spoke with the owner and he has been up front about the reasons why he is closing. He is liquidating (no pun intended) his inventory. He is even advertising on a local radio station with a giveaway of a lower end spa. Any thoughts?
  7. What about the price? Is this a good deal? The model is on the floor but has no water in it. It is a 2006. I have not gone into the details regarding the warranty issues except to ask who would repair it after they close. I was told that there are several reputable manufacturer repair companies in the area. I am also going to check the website.
  8. I have been searching for a spa for over a year. Yesterday, I received an email from a friend saying that a local dealer was going out of business near me. I went to the showroom today and saw several Dimension One and @Home spas. The Dimension One Diplomat looks to be the best choice for my needs. Since they are going out of business, I am concerned about service and support. After reading several postings on this forum, it is evident that Dimension One Spas are on the higher end of the spectrum when it comes to realibility and performance. I have been quoted $7,200 for the spa including a cover with supports to assist in folding it down, steps, chemicals and delivery. Can anyone tell me if this is a good deal? I still have to prepare the area where it will go and I need to have an electrician run the wiring. I know the MSRP is over $12,000 for this spa without the delivery and other items. Please let me know. Thanks.
