  1. http://www.leisurepoolscolumbus.com/Spas/Why_Clearwater_Spas.html and right here it tells you it is in the shell, even if it is only in high traffic areas then that would be the seating area, and steps where else do you think a high traffic area will be in a spa. Also no offense there is no real floor in the spa other then a 2x2 square where the table goes, I doubt that that is the only place the metal is used. tommorrow I will try the magnet and we will see, assuming that they use steel mesh and not aluminum Do you have some links or forum information on this I would like to see more info. Because this is the information I have which clearly states it is in the shell The Acrylobond® shell is "rigidized" with Isotec®, not fiberglass * Many use fiberglass which has toxic resins & does not bond well to acrylic. * Some don't rigidize their spa shell at all. They simply use the polyurethane foam for shell support. Clearwater Spas embeds a steel mesh in the Isotec® rigidizer to give you a 20 Year Shell Surface Warranty! * No other spa company exceeds 7 years on their Surface Warranty I have been to the Clearwater factory and watched them go together, if you don't believe me, try to get a magnet to stick to the spa shell anywhere but the bottom of the floor. If your spa shell had expanded steel all over it, it would weigh 1500 lbs empty, not to mention the insane cost of die molding the steel to the shape of every model they offer. Read the sales material, it states that the reinforcement is in "High traffic areas" nowhere do they claim the entire shell has steel reinforcement. If it did, they wouldn't need those PVC pipes to prop it up. In the wording found on the Clearwater page; http://www.clearwaterspas.com/index.cfm/category/21/ecospray.cfm

  3. I live upstate NY and my electric bill went up around $25 I keep mine at 102 It is in the low 20s at night. Last night after 20min it went down to 101. Do you also have the Clearwater Monaco
  4. Well figured it's time for an update. I have owned the spa for 6 months now. we have had one problem a colored light went out. That was fixed in about 5 minutes buy the warranty/repairman. Since owning the spa we have kept the tempreture set at 102*, end of November to today we have raised the temp to 104*. When we enter the tub it states temp is at 105 and when we exit about 30 minutes later temp is usually at 103*. I am out on Long Island and we have LIPA on buget billing. Since running the tub our electric bill is unchanged infact last months bill dropped to 216 from Octobers 221. To be honest I figured the tub would have raised the electric bill at least 30/month, but for the last 6 months the bill has not changed. I would venture to guess that the tub is pretty darn efficient. The best part is my wifes leg cramps are much better, and I actually think it's helping my herniated discs. Overall on scale of 1 to 10, I give Clearwater a 9.8. I'm minusing .2 for the light issue
  5. Had a local electrician do the wiring, guy did a great job, he had to relay the patio block and did a beautiful job. Tub is up and running perfect. Was really surprised that it only took the water 4 hours to go from 68* to 98*. I gotta say 100 jets with adjustable power is freak'n awsome. Goin tubb'n right now BYE
  6. Well the tub finally arrived today, electrician is here tomorrow and hopefully will be hot tub'n for the weekend delivery went smooth and tub came with no damage. Unit really is put together very well really nice fit and finish.
  7. I called around in NY also. One quote was $1650 and the other was $800. 60 foot total run, 10 feet under an existing paver patio that needs to be torn up and replaced. Make sure the electrician is certified in the county you live in. Otherwise you won't be able to get the saftey inspection signed by the town.
  8. Thanks guys really looking foward to relaxing in it. I was really surprised how loose and relaxed I felt when I got out. Felt about 20yrs younger . Scubaspa, I am purchasing a Clearwater Monaco I don't think the price would be relevant to another brand of spa.
  9. After another wet test and a smile on my wifes face we bought a 2011 Clearwater Monaco. Also a big thanks to THE SPA GUY for answering all my question. It will be a long 6weeks till delivery though.
  10. Yes I am talking about the clearwater Monaco, they made changes to this unit for 2011. Also do you know what kind of ozonater they use. Thanks dave
  11. Thanks I know for the 2011 tubs they changed the 2 three hp pumps to one 6hp pump.I think there were also changes to the circulater pump do you know what they changed does it run 24/7? Any other changes other then the addition of more jets Thanks
  12. What makes the D1 filtration better? also is an ozone filter icluded or an option with the Genesis system. I was told if you do the Genesis ISIS system you don't get the ozone filtering and another dealer said you get both. Clearwater factory rep said you can't have both together which is it. Thanks
  13. I though I did something to get BANNED,glad it's back up but have no idea why it was down.
  14. I assume that price is before tax? That seems to be a very good number. As far as quality goes they seem to be better then any other ones I have seen and tested so far. I am going to try and finalize a deal on one this weekend so we will see.
  15. First of all it doesn't really matter what peoples opinions are on which one is better till you wet test both. You may find one to be uncomfortable then the whole question becomes moot. Most Dealers need to be taken with a grain of salt. I stopped by a local Sundance dealer to look at their spa's because a friend of mine has one and likes it. Anyway after looking at a few I asked if they had a lounger with more jets and she stated the Maxxus was the top of the line unit. Then she asked if I had looked at any other spa's and I mentioned Clearwater. She said I never heard of them, but I know our spa is better. Quite a bold and stupid statement.
