I completely rebuilt my Polaris 360 a couple of months ago. It never worked better in years. Then it just stopped moving/rolling. I replaced the backup valve as it was 12 years old. It did not fix it. It rolls by itself, no obstruction. Looking into the open unit, all belts are connected and move manually. All drivetrain gears are good. No broken teeth. The float head is not full of water. The quick disconnect filter screen is clean. If I blow into the feed pipe, air comes out of the thrust jet. All the water management hoses are connected by original zip ties. Any ideas? -
I need to drain my pool for repairs (has not ran in over a year). It is an in ground gunite pool. I have a backwash position with a hayward de filter. I am replacing the salt mod, controller as well as the filters. I would like to drain it using the backwash mode. Any tips or tricks to this?

My buddys pool needs a new salt system. There are a lot of options out there. Looking for feedback on Pros & Cons of new systems you could recommend?

I am fighting an algae problem. I am keeping my water chemistry in check. My local pool store is telling me that a lower PH will allow the chlorine to be at a higher level, is that true? Here is what they are telling me. Active Chlorine pH 97% 6.0 91% 6.5 76% 7.0 66% 7.2 50% 7.5 I do not plan on swimming any time soon and it is going to rain all weekend. Can’t I just lower my PH by adding some muriatic acid? Won't this help me fight the algae better? Thanks in advance.

I searched but I could not find this answer. Does algaecide alter the Chlorine Levels? I am fighting an algae problem. I shocked the hell out of the pool and added algaecide. I also have Chlorine tabs in the floater. I tested the water 24hr later and it shows little Chlorine. Does the weather have anything to do with it? It is in the high 70’s and cloudy if that helps.

Update. I cleaned the filter with TSP. Grids look fine except the area where they are collapsed. Put DE back in the pool and we will see what happens. We have had bad storms here and I am fighting a terrible algae bloom. I am dumping bleach in and keeping chlorine level high. Any other ideas? With the algae issue I feel I need to conquer 1st.

Update. I clean the filter with acid. Put DE back in the pool and we will see what happens. Also just another piece of info, a couple of the grids is collapsed on the top. This happened a year ago when the pump went out. I then replaced the pump and all the grids. What do you think is collapsing them again? The original motor lasted 6 years and so did all the grids. ps. the floating feeders are because my salt main logic board went out so I am back to floating feeders. Also Salt Cell was acid socked also

Low fountain flow I am going to start a new post to give all the currents facts. I have a flow issue. The pool runs great for about 1 to 3 hours, then I have very little flow to a fountain in a spa that feeds the pool. In the morning when the pool 1st starts up it take about 20sec for the water to start flowing out of the fountain at 20psi. Then after 1hr the fountain is dribbling and pressure is 30psi. I can turn off motor, wait 30secs and restart, I will be back to normal. Then process happens again. After an hr or so back to dribbling and pressure is 30psi. Currently running clean grids with NO DE. All skimmers baskets including motor are clean. Also salt cell was socked in spring and is clean. Water test is normal. Pool info 14K gal A.O. Thanks for your help. The motor shows A.O. Smith B130 2.4hp PN#7-159986 type CX and FR# X56J. So I should increase the load on the motor, thus reducing the HP like a variable motor? I did not ask what motor you have, I already know since you stated that in your first post. I asked what pump you have to make sure you have the right replacement motor for your pump. waterbear sorry I do not understand your question. What is the difference between the motor and the pump. Isn’t the motor pumping the water? I also have a 3/4hp motor that drives the polars.

Thanks, no algae. Update, when I start to lose pressure from the fountain, my filter reads 33psi. Also the motor filter basket is not completely filled with water. There is an air gap. Maybe an inch. So I can see air in the motor basket but this does not happen for maybe 6hrs of the motor running. So if I turn off the pump, wait maybe 5min and turn back on, we are back to 20psi and the fountain has pressure. Aqualink rs4 Hayward DE2420L Filter AutoClear salt system

A year ago my pump went out and I replaced it with an A.O. Smith B130 2.4hp. I believe my old pump was a 2hp. I have a 14K pool with 2 skimmers, a fountain in the spa that flow like a waterfall back into the pool and a sheer decent feature. Also went the pump went out it collapsed a lot of the DE grids. I replaced all the grids. Now I noticed after a couple of month that a couple of grids are collapsed again and I constantly have low pressure issues. After I replaced the pump and grids I had 20psi. When I have low pressure in the pool issues it is up to 30psi. I can back wash and I am back to 20psi. Any ideas on the grids issue? Thanks STeve
