  1. Ok, who else is tired of getting reemed on chemical prices? Lets share the knowledge of where else these common chemicals are used / sold that we put in our pools. Calcium Chloride (calcium hardness increaser) = Common sidewalk deicer. 50lb bags for under $20 Soda Ash, (Calcium Carbonate) Several places online about $1 / lb as opposed to $3-5 lb. Muriatic acid (Hydrochloric acid) Ace hardware, generally half price of the pool suppliers per gallon. Algicide - any place that sells Koi fish, read the labeled, same stuff and again generally it's HALF PRICE. If you know something add it on, like many of you I'm tired of getting reemed on chemical costs!
  2. But why do you guys bend the customer over on the prices of items like baking soda, and calcium chloride? The same 100% CaCl that you can get at places like Ace hardware sold as ice melt in 50lb bags for 10 dollars? ALL chemicals used in pools are cheap to manufacture and purchase. Calcium Hypochlorite otherwise knows and chlorine granules, $600 a ton, that's $0.30 / lb but yet you charge $3-5 a lb. This industry REALLY does need some competition. Every time I buy chemicals that I can't gut from a chemical supplier, I know I'm getting bent over and a$$ pounded on the price.
