  1. Thanks for replying everyone - helpful as always. Toby, I didn't make myself clear enough - I know what salt is, but also that many "salts" include additives eg anti-caking agents which won't be in the ACE version and would not be adviseable in a hot tub. I am looking for cheap, UK available, salt without additives, but I appreciate you taking the trouble to ask your friend.
  2. I've just finished the salt that came with the ACE system when refilling my tub. Has anyone any suggestions for a cheap substitute (in UK) for next time? Thanks in anticipation - there's always someone able to help!
  3. Thank you very much for the quick reply. I realise the ozonator isuue but don't want to complicate things by disconnecting it. Bather load is likely to be one, or at most two, reading a book for a while. My instructions will include "boost", but as I don't want to stress my well-meaning but over-anxious sister-in-law they will be very simple! I'll certainly super-chlorinate before refill when we get back. Hopefully things will work smoothly. Canada, here we come!
  4. I invested in the ACE system for my Jetsetter mainly because we'll be away for seven weeks over the summer and various family will be staying at my house. It seems the easiest way of ensuring the tub is manageable for guests who won't be familiar with maintaining it. Basic instructions will be left and I intend to refill when we get back. How big a problem would it be if the chlorine level dropped to zero and then went up again between guests? The tub also has an ozonator (I like the bubbles!) and EcoOne (for my skin).
  5. I"m not criticising any of the mods. You must be even more sick of the spam because of the time you have to waste on it. I just wonder if there isn't a way of making it more difficult for the spammers and easier for the people trying to control it. I'm happy to contact the site admin. Anybody got any suggestions to offer them?
  6. This has been a brilliant site, but no one new will realise it. Although it would be a nuisance for legitimate posters, is there any way of making it harder to post - something like two or three steps. Hopefully that would be temporary until the site stops being a target. I'd hate to see the site fold.
  7. There's no problem running the spa without the cartridge. I have the same spa and discussed this with my dealer. She had already described how the cartridge would look when it was due to be replaced. Maybe you could try running it without the cartridge for a while before selling your unused cartridges. Anne
  8. JPB, I sympathise as I have incredibly sensitive skin and. Although there is a lot of scepticism about enzyme based products, I found using EcoOne in addition to "normal" sanitizing made a huge difference - no more rash and especially no more itching from the hot tub. As you can add it without a water change, one bottle might be worth a try. Good luck!
  9. Hi there I've been hooked on this forum for a few weeks now. Thanks to all for the information and advice posted. I have very sensitive skin and have always itched and had to plaster cream on after swimming or going in a hot tub (even a shower or bath). I got my hot tub (HotSpring Jetsetter) 4 weeks ago and have already started EcoOne. I'm using it with lower levels of chlorine and have no itching, don't have to shower afterwards and usually don't need to use any cream at all! (Water is also crystal clear.) It's early days, but I'm delighted with it. Only problem is stabilizer level is already heading too high. Before starting EcoOne I was advised to keep chlorine at a higher level than necessary, probably not allowing for the ozonator and silver ions, and then to change to MPS but shock with a large amount of Dichlor because of my skin problem. I won't be operating like that again! Is there any reason not to use non-stabilized chlorine shock or granules intended for a pool once there is a residue of stabilizer in the water? My tap water has no calcium at all, so it won't matter if calcium is added with the chlorine. Thanks in anticipation.
