  1. A couple of years ago my Hayward heater stopped working. An easy fix, some dirty rat severed the pressure sensor's vacuum hose. The other day it wasn't working again. The display showed a SF error code. That's a temperature sensor error. There are two thermistors in a threaded plug with two red wires and one black wire going to the control board. The black wire was severed. Another easy fix. The bottom of the heater of overflowing with rat poop OK, not overflowing, but an exorbitant amount of the stinky stuff. How do I keep them out?
  2. Is it normal for the water level to drop inside a cartridge filter when the pump is not running? I have an 8 foot inground fiberglass spa with a large (maybe 2 foot) paper cartridge filter. When I start up the pump after it has been off for a couple of days, I can bleed some air out of the filter for several seconds. Is that normal? The spa is covered when not in use, so there is no evaperation, and there hasn't been a drop in the spa's water level, so I don't believe there is a leak.
  3. I have a Hayward H150FD on my spa. It is working, and heating to 104 where I originally set it, but the keypad is no longer responding. Non of the buttons (Mode, Up, Down) do anything. When it is running, both the Spa and Standby lights are on (as well as the Heat light). Any ideas?
  4. Thanks geeman. You're are probably right. I did some repair work a few days ago for the first time in a long time, and that is what brought it to mind. I know I used plaster of paris this time (and didn't get it wet afterwards), but almost all the time in the past, I did use spackle, so I probably just got my experiences confused.
  5. Is there something special about pool plaster? A few years ago I was using plaster to patch a wall, and seem to recall that if I got it wet after it hardened, the plaster patch would soften up again. So I was wondering how pool plaster stays hard.
