  1. My Hawyward pool pump keeps cutting out (perhaps after about 1 hr of use)and then it will start up again after a while. The pump itself seems quite hot. There is also a noise that sounds like there are little bits rattling about in the pump. Any ideas what this could be? I am a pool novice. Cheers TAS
  2. I too recently bought a house with a pool and have been reading all there is to know. It does get easier, trust me! I had a similar problem and it also continued to be a problem when I bough a kreepy crawly too, there was basically no suction coming through when i hooked it up. To resolve, I have to do the following steps :- 1. Put vacuum plate into skimmer basket and test suction by placing hand over the hole. If it is low suction or nothing at all, check filter is running. If it is, then place palm of hand over hole until suction is created. This sometimes involves moving the vacuum plate around to create a 'snugger' fit! 2. After successful completion of (1), make sure all the air in the vacuum hose is expelled by using the inlet to the pool to push it out (don't forget to not let air back into the hose after completing this step) 3. Hook up vacuum 4. If it still does not work, check hose and vacuum head for blockage. 5. If it still doesnt work, throw a tantrum and go to internet! Cheers
  3. We moved into a house with a concrete pool that is about 17 yrs old and it needs a good clean. The surface and walls are quite heavily stained a light brown colour. What are my best options and expected cost? The pool is 10m x 5m. Is it easy to drain, clean and repaint myself? Would I save much? Any help and advice greatly appreciated. Cheers
  4. Any assitance greatly appreciated, as I am a pool novice. My inground pool (about 10m x 5m) has recently started to become cloudy when the chlorinator is turned on. Although, this doesnt happen continually. I may get a 5 minute jet of cloudy water, then it will return to clear. Then 5 mins later it will come out cloudy again. If the filter runs on its own, the return to the pool is clear all the time though. I have added salt and shocked the pool. It has been backwashed and rinsed etc recently too. We added algaecide last week to remove some backswimmers. Anyone have any idea what is causing this? My chlorine level is set to 9.0. Thanks in advance.
  5. Perfect, thanks. Managed to get it working today!
  6. New member and pool novice here. Any help gratefully accepted. Wondering how i set up my Baracuda pool cleaner. Do I remove the filter basket from within the skimmer and plug it in there? This is what the instructions seem to say. My only confusion with this is that all the dirt from the bottom of the pool will therefore go directly into the filter. Is this correct or am I missing something?
