  1. Jeff, Price that I was quoted in Canada was $12100 before tax for: 2009 Optima with flat foot well never filled with water. Standard cabinet with oyster finish JBL stereo ozone cover delivery/set up GFCI and some chemicals Cover Caddy lifter floor model heavy duty acrylic step - Smartstep What do you think? I think that it is to high so I will probably close on a Artesian Piper Glen. So you're $1105 more than me 2009 floor model (knock something off say -$500 JBL = + $795-$1295 Ozone = $0 Cover = $0 Delivery = $0 If by GFCI you mean the electrical box your electrician will buy and bill you for =$250 Start up Chem Kit = $0 Cover Caddy vs Cover Lifter 3 = -$150 Steps + something not sure what $100 Oyster Finish = +$200 I think it's too high. $10,995 would be fair that's what the 2010 models are going for. It's a 2009 floor-model, pretend like you wouldn't buy the stereo anyway. Sundance was the lowest price we looked at, so I didn't have - the "other tub I like is lower priced" card to play I suspect the dealers in the area know what others can sell for (secret shopping goes on) But Spatech makes the best point - which one do you truly want? I assume you did wet tests.
  2. forgot to mention ozone was included in my price too Spa purity system is $40 here so not too worried $10k in the US sounds good considering the dollar these days But I'm CDN so can only advise on this market My final deal was 2010 Optima standard finish, standard cabinet no stereo ozone incl. premium cover del/setup etc.. all incl $100 store gift card Covermate 3 lifter upgrade incl. $10,995 before tax
  3. Hey guys ViolinFather I did alot of comparison shopping with other tubs, and even secretly shopped some other Sundance dealers. Looks like $10,995 is the going rate for 2010 Optima Stereo That doesn't include the Stereo They sell it (Make sure it's the JBL one) for $1,295 (which seems pricey to me) I saw some Sundance dealers offering 'home show specials' on the stereo for $795 - so I'm guessing that's wholesale What coverlifter is it? Covermate 1 - is included in all the pricing I got from anyone! Covermate 3 - is an extra $100 value Delivery/Setup etc... is always free/included with everyone, don't let them tell you otherwise, so is a premium cover Finish Is it one of the upgrade finishes? (platinum or oyster) They say those go for $200 What does the footwell hub look like? If it's the flat top like the 2010 - that's good If it's the full half-orb with the get in the middle - that's not great (people have had trouble with that walking, tripping, twisting ankles) If it's the older version they should discount for that Personally sounds a smidge pricey for a FLOOR model from 2009 You could get a 2010 with your choice of colors etc... for about the same or less depending on options. Personally I don't like the stereo at $1,295. (pricey to me, but you have to chose what you like) I will say the tubs are great from my wet test, if you can wait 4 weeks, I'll post my delivery/install/first few soaks experience
  4. Went with Sundance Optima. Will let you know how it goes in 4 weeks In the end - it was the lower priced supplier (despite not negotiating much) - and by far the nicer tub (power jets etc...see review above) when we did the wet test for our needs #1 piece of advice is WET TEST - I know everyone says it on here, but it made the difference more than anything else.
  5. Hey JSLA yeah we weren't big fans of the way Sundance has to talk down everyone elses tub Just talk to me about your tub...geez Heck even at the wet test he was still going - doesn't he realize at the wet test we're already past that and down to feel? The tub will do all the talking at that point. Anyway Just wanted to write to talk about cool down steps. Yes BC seemed to have the advantage there, but think of it this way there are usually a couple of high up/few jetted seats in the sundance, and you can turn the jets off to make it a cool down seat. Not sure the layout of your model, but just something to consider (now I sound like a sundance salesman LOL) I can't explain to you the difference the wet testing made. As completely awkward as it is to be hot tubbing in a store - ya gotta do it. It will help you understand what you like tremendously.
  6. Wet tested 2 BeachCombers and the Sundance Hands down Sundance spa blew it away. We really liked the guy at BC, but he's not gonna be in our backyard - the tub is and one was clearly superior in feel to us. Features we noticed: Footwells BC footwell jets only point in one direction, Sundance had every direction (and despite being much smaller jets, they had just as much force) We'd heard people didn't like the Sundance footwell (hump in the middle) didn't bother us - maybe the old 'dome' version was a problem - this one is flat on top and no worries. Jets & seats Sundance jets (some have more than one mode) Sundance jets and diverters made even the same seat different The 'swivel lounge' although kind of a neat idea with BC, made the seats feel imbalanced when not using them as loungers (only massaging one side of your body) Power Sundance power was remarkably higher than the Beachcombers too Tested Optima 880 (Sundance) Tested Beachcomber 750 and 720 Price And in the end the Sundance is lower priced anyway! (thats the guy who wouldn't negotiate, but his starting price is still lower than everyone elses 'negotiated' prices, and includes small extras here and there (lights, waterfall etc...) in the price where they would be add ons with the other guys. Waterfall Sundance waterfall was much nicer than BComber too if that's something you care about (I do - sound of water is good for me) Sundance waterfall works better, has lights and babbling brook mode too, and flows a TON more water. Air jets/Aroma Sundance comes with air/aromatherapy jets, which use or not, they're there if we want/need later. Stereos I'm passing on the stereo. (for $1300+ I can do something in the yard ) Anyway that's where we are at - Sundance
  7. In my search Beachcomber claims to have the UV light filter. Would love some opinions on it's worth He's throwing it in the price because I have some other quotes that he needed to get close to. Does it work? Would you recommend? Do other manufacturers NOT have it?
  8. Hard to argue with you - I really liked the Beachcomber sales guy I think at this point Beachcomber/Sundance both are probably largely equal quality etc... Pricing is pretty close in the end It's just service and feel for your needs that make the diff. I'm gonna try and find out more about this UV thing that BC says they have - I thought most tubs had it but sounds like no. Watch for posts
  9. Well - made it to Beachcomber Very nice guy - knowledgable and wasn't as hard sell as the rest Came down on price and threw some things in to get it much closer to Sundance price Anyone have thoughts on this UV light system??? Now I'm stuck between Sundance and Beachcomber too lol Wet tests this weekend. Jeff70hem Where'd you net out?
  10. Thanks all - makes sense. GMan - yeah sounds like you are in the US, so that would likely account for the difference. I agree - there are dealers who go to their floor at the outset, but I'm just trying to find out through this forum if that price is the lowend range for that spa. I'm trying to find out what a GOOD price is LOL The Wpg and Vic folks seem to have me thinking I am low end which is good. I'll probably counter with a discount and say - if you can do this I'll do the deal right away Cheers
  11. Crazy thing was - Jacuzzi was MUCH higher priced like $15k vs $11k!!!!
  12. Still haven't made it to Beachcomber yet - these places close too early for me LOL Went to Jacuzzi - super nice guys there (young) honest, friendly, seem to know their stuff Tubs are just too pricey and don't look as well made as Sundance/Arctic Sounds crazy I know But just didn't feel good about the tubs, and then the price (buying the Jacuzzi name I guess) was just out of line in my opinion. Will let you know when I've been to Beachcomber
  13. They say the price is non-negotiable. + $1,295 for the stereo + $100 for the coverlifter upgrade (to Covermate III from Covermate I) Is this reasonable. I am turned off by the 'non-negotiable' statement I'm able to pay cash, no financing. With the 2 upgrades - I'd like the coverlifter upgrade for FREE obviously and some sort of discount on the stereo option or tub. What's reasonable? What do other people pay for the same tub? Is Sundance REALLY non-negotiable - I have a hard time believing that? How far does anyone think they'll come down if at all? Please help.
  14. I was in your situation in the Fall (here in Mississauga). I also was not keen on the local Arctic dealer, but decided on an Arctic Summit anyway. I absolutely love it. Still not keen on the Mississauga dealer...they keep changing personnel every time I go in there! I just go to the next closest store in Oakville instead.... or just phone them if I want info/advice... Good Luck with your decision!! Yeah I'm not so lucky - It's my local dealer in Whitby (next closest is Peterborough - which is the same guy, or Miss.) I was considering a Gazebo, and they had one in the showroom that they tried to tell me wasn't made of wood (because I'd made a big deal about how I'm not really looking to stain/treat a gazebo every year or two - I considered the Covana, but have settled on NOT doing a gazebo for now, seeing if I like it better without, or want one later - I can always put that in after the fact) Anyway they kept telling me it wasn't real wood, and it was - they had no idea - honestly completely turned me off. Do you have any knowledge of the products you are selling (bugs me cuz I'm in sales in another industry) They also told me I wouldn't need a concrete pad with the forever floor, I wont go into detail but I would have needed a retaining wall - $1000, but this site and others helped me realize Concrete Pad is a must - got a quote, with removal of exisitng backyard landscaping to get it in $850 - wtf LOL Needless to say - not impressed with them. Liked the tub, and they were willing to negotiate - but just too worried about service I like the Sundance tub now, but guy said immediately he won't negotiate on price - is that NORMAL with them? Still shopping and need to do wet tests
  15. Beside those 3 worthy brands I might look at Caldera, D1, Hot Spring and Marquis Yeah I heard D1 and Hot Spring Both look good, but dealers aren't too close to me, which is fine for a 1-2 time visit, but for back and forth, wet testing, and long term equip and service needs - not ideal I like the looks of them both - but D1 with the curved lines look like they are better suited to either be stand alone or completely set down in the deck Mine will be partially raised out of the deck. I may take a Saturday and go look in person though - thanks Will also look for Caldera and Marquis dealers in my area
