  1. Thx PoolClown. I'm pretty sure I disconnected the power first, but I'll try it again, thank you.
  2. Thanks PoolClown. The ribbon was connected correctly on the new board. The old control board was cycling through all operations, shutting off and then restarting. I couldn't shut it down through the touch pad. I reinstalled the old board and now (of course) it seems to be working fine. The touch pad buttons work on the old board but not on the new.
  3. I have a 10 year old Sta-Rite pool heater. The control board went out and apparently the HD 9 pin connector board has been replaced with a 6 pin board. I installed it as directed, using the bottom 6 pin holes on the cable. The heater will fire up but none of the control buttons (temp, on/off, etc) work. Tried using only the top 6 pin holes, same result. Any Ideas? Thanks
  4. I think the problem is the touch pad. I peeled off the clear plastic sheet and noticed a couple of the metal contact pads on the buttons were missing. I reinstalled the board, it lights up, led then R=8. Had to press the on button hard several times to get it to fire. Finally did but the off button won't shut it down.
  5. Hey Steve, With the boards components facing you and the ribbon connector on your right, you want to plug in at the bottom and leave the extra sockets on the top. Does that make sense? I thought that's how I had it. I'll try it again in the am. Thanks
  6. I'm having a problem with my 8 year old Sta-Rite pool heater. All LED lights started flashing, then none of the buttons on the pad would work. I assumed the control board was faulty and replaced it. My old board part # was 420010096S. The supply company said that part number was replaced with a new board, #420020007S and that the new 6 pin board would work with my 9 pin connector. The new board looks completely different. The cables fit from the membrane pad fit, but the board has a couple more connectors than I have cables. Bottom line, the new board didn't fix my problem. When I power up the heater, the new board lights up flashes a couple diagnostic codes then goes dark. None of the buttons work. This is the same problem I had with the old board. It seems that either the new board in not compatible or the cable connector from the membrane cover to the board is bad. Pool Clown you helped me before with this heater, any suggestions?
  7. Thanks very much Pool Clown, I'll give that a try.
  8. I have a 10 year old Sta-Rite 400k BTU heater. Recently it started shutting off before it reaches the programmed temperature. It will fire up fine, run for a couple minutes, the burner shutes down and the heater act as though it has reached temperature and starts to shut down. It then fires up again and repeates the process. It eventually reaches the programmed temperature (a long process with all the shut downs) and shuts down as normal. There are no error codes. I'm thinking it's the control board. Any other possibilities? Thanks
