  1. I am in the process of replacing an 11 year old Sundance Palermo with something a bit smaller. I got a quote on a Bullfrog at a "showroom" for $10k, but really don't want to spend that much. I use my spa every night (no kidding) and usually with just one pump on low. I am not looking for a thrashing jet experience nor any bells an whistles. Reliability is important. I want smaller 76" to 84", don't use a lounger, but I want a good depth (Palermo is 36" high). Home Depot sells Home and Garden, Lifesmart, Canadian, American Aquarest in some sizes that interest me (~300 gal) Lowes sells Home and Garden, Lifesmart, and QCA. Anyone have any recommendations on those brands? I did like that the Bullfrogs had no wood in them, but didn't value the "jetpack" idea much. I'd love to get something for $3-$5k and HD and Lowes have some interesting models in that range. Thanks in advance....
  2. I'm having the exact same problem with my '05 Sundance Palermo. I tried holding down the + and - and nothing. Same symptom, keypad dead, but display on a circ pump and heater working. I cycled power several times, unplugged the connection and reconnected it. Oddly, similar to the original poster, I had to replace caps on the circuit board about 2 month ago too. Hate to gamble the $160 for a new control panel without really knowing if that is the problem or not..... Any other suggestions???? JH
  3. Ok, I have surfed around and am leaning toward an RH cover. I wanted to ask (and for the benefit of others looking to buy and finding this thread) about the relationship between the "lb. density" of the foam vs. R factor. I live in New England I use my tub EVERY night (means the cover gets lots of open and closes, and sucessive snowfalls do not accumulate on it, I keep it cleared) Nothing but snow and rain sits on my top. No kids, pets, polar bears, etc. So I want a quality cover, the best R factor I can get, supporting weight strength not that much of a concern for me. Also curious about the effectiveness of the double core wrap and the reflective underside. The cover I have now really sucks and I would love to chip away at the electric bill as much as possible. TIA JH
  4. It did occur to me that the cores are wrapped and might not dry out quickly, if at all. Also, the cover I have now came with the tub, so I would suspect minimal/moderate quality. I would rather pay for a better cover now and get more years out of it AND better insulation. Looking at your covers Dr Spa, along with others... thanks
  5. I'm in the market for a new cover too for my Sundance Palermo. The one I have now is VERY heavy and ripping at the seams. I got it in 2005, live in New England and use the tub every night. So I figured I got my money's worth out of it. Don't mean to pirate the original thread, but since there are some experienced tubbers out there, I thought I would ask here: Does anyone make a top with removeable foam inserts? Having 2 sets that I could rotate out and dry to keep light would be great. Looking at some supplier sites however, it appears that the foam is embedded into the C channel and that probably would not be an option.
