  1. so, I am still tryinng to get my new hot up and running, but first I need to clean it out. I am going to use nitro's shock method to clean it, however I have a dillema, i need the filter to run the nasty old water through, and the tub did not come with one. I do not want to buy a new filter and ruin immediately by running the old water through it. It there anything I can use as a tempoary filter to shock the tub, or can I do a flush without a filter? Thanks.
  2. Does anyone else know about the moisture/wood problem? I'm trying tio convince the landlord to let me put the tub under the patio.
  3. Thank you for the replies.... I think I may have written that wrong, the patio wood is ABOVE the hot tub, it will be sitting on concrete, but there is a patio roof above it, that the landlord says may be ruined my the tubs moisture rising up.
  4. Bump....... I need to read this later...
  5. Bump this up.... I would like to know the same.
  6. I just got a free tub (woo hoo) but it has been sitting for quite some time and it looks like there is quite a bit of sand/dirt in the jet holes, also in the shell. I am wondering how to get the dirt out if the jets. I do not want to hose it, because it will go back inside the jet, if I fill the tub to run the jets, the same thing will happen. How do I go about cleaning it out? Thanks again.
  7. I saw an ad on craigslist for a free tub, that supposedly works well, but was never tested. I picked it up (real p.i.t.a), and now I have a few questions... as usual. Fisrt off, it looks like about 10 of the larger jets are completely missing, so i know they need to be replaced, is it something I can do myself? Also, is there any way to check if it works without hooking the entire thing up, i.e a spa repairman using a machine or something? It's a 2001 Sundance Altamar. And another major question i have is......... Will the tub's moisture ruin a wooden patio? The house I will be installing the tub at is already wired and has a concrete slab but it's under a wooden patio, maybe 5 feet above where the tub would sit. Teh owner of the house (renting) says that the hot tub will ruin the patio wood quickly because of all the moisture it creates, is there any tructh to this? if so, how can I avoid it so he'll allow me to put the tub there? Thank you again.
  8. I posted a while ago regarding a D1 spa I was looking at, but decided not to buy it. My questions are....... First, how are Diamante hot tubs? I searched here but there is verylittle information regarding them. Also, do the number of pumps and jets make a substantial difference in energy use/ cost? Lastly, I realized that most 7x7 tubs are too big for my space, are there any good 4 seater tubs available? everything I have seen is either 3 or 7+. Thanks again.
  9. Thank you very much, I was hoping you would respond. Are there any parts that definitely need replacement at the year mark? I am just wondering if the seller knows something I don't.
  10. Who told you full foam tubs were impossible to fix? Let me guess, a guy selling non fully insulated tubs!! How much are they asking for this 8 year old tub? Does this 8 year old tub run? Have you seen it run? What shape is it in? Yes sir, it was an online article, I think it was a company that does sell non fully insulated tubs. The tub is 1,200 dollars, the seller says everything works perfect, I will verify this for myself of course, but I am worried that there may be something I do not know how to check for. Thanks for the reply.
  11. Ok, I did search most the forum before I posted, because I know everyone hates repetitive posts. Here's the deal, I am planning on purchasing my first used tub this weekend. The one I have found is a 2002 D1 sojourn. The spa has all the features I am looking for. I have a few questions, mainly, what to look for on a used tub, I know about leaks, weird noises, cracks, etc. Are they any major parts that go bad at the 8-10 year mark? Also, are D1 replacement parts any more expensive than other brands? I have heard that full foam tubs are impossible to repair once/if they leak, should I look for a tub that is not full foam? Any other additional info. i have overlooked will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
