  1. Hey friends. I haven't been here in a while, but I am looking for a little help with my tub again. This time the outside. I have a 2001 Sundance Altamar, which I plan on keeping for a while since I have dumped loads of $$ into it. The whole tub is in excellent condition, but the outside does seem to be deteriorating. The outside is the real wood. I am wondering it it is possible to replace my real wood with the synthetic panels from the newer Sundance tubs. A few dealers have said it won't fit, but they look exactly the same. I heard something about my tub having a wooden trim on top, and if I remove that,it will fit. Has anyone done this, or know if it will work? I hear James the hot tub guy is our local sundance guru. thanks a bunch.
  2. I'm just wondering if you guys know what the Jacuzzi Brand Protech LED series of spas is. I know they were made in 2005 and a few years after, but what's the difference between those tubs and regular Jacuzzi?
  3. Hello again everyone, I found what seems to be a deal on a 2003 Model Tiger River Sumatran. I looked online but could noty find any reviews regarding reliability. Does anyone have experience with these? How is the reliability of them? Are they easy to repair if needed? How much are parts? Thank you.
  4. Thanks for the quick reply. I do not believe I have an ozone check valve, if so, where would it be? I do have an ozone unit on the tub. Would something else be causing the "burping bubbles"? Also, just now as I was walking by my tub and I heard a humming noise that I have never heard before. I turned on the jet pump and the noise stopped but came back up. Does this sound like maybe the circulation pump is just going bad? Thanks.
  5. Hey, I am going to bump this because I am having the exact same problem. My 2001 Sundance that has a circ pump is letting out slow, big air bubbles rather than a constant stream. Is there a way to bleed the air out? I dont see a valve or circulation pump filter.
  6. Hello again everyone. I am thinking of upgrading my tub, and I saw a goo deal on a 2008 Marquis quest. I have not heard much about Marquis tubs in general. How are their products? Any issues? I know there is someone on here who swears by them (spa guru) I think. Are they full foam? Is the outside real wood or synthetic? I believe he said they were easy to work on when needed. Basically any information would be helpful. Thank you.
  7. Damn. So what is the best course of action? I can't just keep fixing every single leak, and I don't want to let them go. And you are right, they have all been at the glued joints. How are tubs that are much older than mine still working without leaking? I also thought Sundance tubs weren't supposed to have leaking issues.
  8. I have a 2001 SUndance that has been good to me, except for a few leaks, one of which just came up The first was on the footjet, underneath the tub so i removed lots of foam to find the leak, and to have it repaired. The second was on the jet in one of the seats, and I removed a large portion on the foam in the corner to access that leak. The latest leak is on a small t-fitting on the side, and I removed a good portion of foam along the whole side to find this leak. My question is, should I just take off all the foam so any future leaks will be easy to find and fix? About 30% of the tub's foam is almost already missing. Also, is there a certain reason I have so many leaks? Will more keep popping up? Thanks.
  9. Wow...yeah thanks. Without the link you posted I was only able to get on this site on an old Mac laptop and I had to reset Safari everytime I posted. I had the same problem, for the last two months. I was only able to post once, it was very very frustrating. How do I make it so I log in from your 2nd link every time? Thanks a million btw.
  10. That's pretty much what I was thinking, but I mean if the leak is in the foot jets or something like that, does the bottom part come off?
  11. I am thinking of selling my current tub, which is a large six seater, for a smaller 3 or 4 person one, and I am looking specifically for a new model, mid- 2000's. It seems that many of the tubs I am looking at say the bottom is all plastic, or all sealed, which i am guessing means that it is like a large round plastic "tub" on the bottom. I like that idea, except since hot tubs leak over time, how would it be possible to repair a leak in one of these tubs Does the bottom part detach, would you need to repair it from the sides? Thanks.
  12. Hello all, I just found 3 more leaks in my Sundance two weeks after fixing a different leak. I am just wondering if anyone here is able to provide a plumbing diagram for a 2001 Altamar, it seems very difficult to find one. Thank you.
  13. Thanks guys, I did the food coloring method, and I must admit, when the entire tub turned bright red, I got freaked out. Not only did it look rather scary, but I was afraid it was going to ruin something and instantly drained it. Good news is, I was able to locate the leak, it's towards the middle of the tub, at one of the hose connectors, and it's leaking pretty bad. my question now is........how do i fix this? there doesn't seem to be a place to cut out and replace the piping, nor a way to put in a new "t" hose. It seems to be right at the connection where the blue glue is. Should i just use more glue? Will plast-aid work? maybe Roger can chime in. Thank you very much.
  14. Ok, so I recently repaired a leak in the plumbing, at the foot jet of my 2001 Sundance Altamar. Everything was fine for 3 months or so, then I started seeing lots of water underneath the tub, much more than from the previous leak. Now, it is constantly soaked underneath the tub and i have checked the equipment bay, and all sides of the tub, but the leak is coming from underneath. So, I lifted the tub on it's side, yet I cannot find the leaking spot, the foam was wet pretty much everywhere, bu none was saturated. So, how can I find the leak?? It's not like I can get under the tub while it's working.
  15. I keep it at 100, 0r 102. Does everyone get the dizziness? Or just me? Maybe my blood pressure is high....
  16. I've used it 3 times, twice I had 3 beers prior, once I had none.
  17. Haha, really? Slower? i thought he was being sarcastic. I will try that. Thanks.
  18. I have only used my tub a few times, but each time I did I became really dizzy upon exiting the tub. I know aclohol contributes to this, but other than not drinking is there anything I can do to not get the dizzy feeling with the tub? Thanks.
  19. Thanks for the thorough reply. I was thinking the same thing when i was looking at the plumbing, it's going to be hell getting any piece of the pipes out. I decided to have the tech come look at it, hopefully they can fix it, fairly reasonably.
  20. Hello again folks. So... I drained my tub, lifted it on its side, and started hacking away at the foam underneath since it was soaked everywhere. I got to where the 2 foot (whirlpool) jets would be and like you said, it was gushing out of there. My questions are...... what are these jets usually connected to? There are 2 jets and a separate pipe running somewhere else that I cannot see because of the foam. I believe this is the leaking pipe. Also, how did you remove the faom from the pipes themselves? It seems to be very hard to get the foam off the plastic pipes and I do not want to ruin them and have another leak. Lastly, do any of the pipes simply screw in, or is it always necessary to cut and glue? Thanks.
  21. I'm not sure about the heating issue, but if the FLO was flashing, it's most likely a bad circ pump, which could also be reason the tub isn't heating....... the circ pump is what flows the hot water back into the tub. If the FLO was solid, it's the flo switch.
  22. I have a leak that is in the worst spot of course, underneath the tub so i need to lift it up and have a look-see. I had the spa tech come out and he confirmed that it's underneath and would need to be turned on it's side but he said to notturn it to the equipment side. I always thought that was the proper place. Which side should I lay the tub on? Thanks.
  23. Hey Drewskie. Not sure if this helps but I had a leak on my Sundance optima. When I started digging I came across a check valve that was in the suction line at the bottom of the tub. The check valve was basically cracked in half and that was my leak. I had wet spots all around my tub so I would think if it has been leaking long enough it could be from areas farther then you think. So if you have these suction lines check the valve areas. Thank you. I had read somewhere that check valves go bad and are a common leak spot. How did you get to it? From underneath the tub? Is it difficult is it to replace?
  24. Lil update.... maybe you can help Roger, or someone else. I removed a bunch of the foam behind where I see the water leaking, but no water comes from any of the plumbing where I took out the foam. However, there is water on both sides of the tub at the rear. Could it be from underneath the tub? Are there anty common spots under the tub that leak? If so, what are some of the possibilities?
