  1. Yes I have an ozonator. the D1 is 1 year old - about 300 gallons. Last time I waited 6 months to change water but this time am going to change after 4 months. I am using Nitro's bleach method but just went out of town for 5 days and came home to green water even though I shocked right before I left by adding bleach. I think the problem was that I turned the temperature down and the ozonator and circ pump were not running enough (as they do not run if in cool down mode). I have since switched to summer mode and the circ pump is now running full time. I am going to change the water as the chlorine does not seem to be retaining any more. Perhaps I need to add more CYA since I have added a little fresh water but I think it is easier to do a fresh fill. Will try the N2 cartridge but first will check to see if it will fit inside the filter. I am having problem with foam when jets run - looks like a bubble bath - any suggestions on that? Thanks for all the info...
  2. I have a D1 spa with ozonator and they recommend using the Vision Spa Sanitizer cartridge which costs about $90. It is .92% metallic silver (from silver nitrate). It is a Nature 2 produce but is manufactured for D1. It is a flat cartridge that sits on the top of the filter looks a bit like a frisbie. MY Question is does anyone know the difference between this and the Nature 2 cartridge (tall yellow that goes in the middle of the filter). The Nature 2 is a lot cheaper and so I would prefer to buy that unless anyone tells me there is an advantage to the Vision. Many thanks for any help in advance...
  3. Hi Twiggy, and welcome to the forum. My short list of some I would take a look at in no particular order would be: Arctic Spas Jacuzzi Sundance Hot Spring D1 Marquis Some others I wouldn’t rule out would be Artesian and Clearwater Spas. I would look at some of those online first to find some local dealers, then go out to the stores to get a feel for the dealers themselves. Buying from a good local reputable dealer can be just as important decision as the tub itself. Many will recommend picking out three or four and then go wet test those spas to help make the decision. Lastly, with the price range you have in mind, you should be able to purchase a very nice quality spa from any of the manufactures listed above. Good luck! Thanks I am doing exactly as you said and will wet test 3 - hopefully then the decision will be easy.
  4. Thanks to all for helpful responses. We have decided to stick with simpler tub and so are now down to wet testing Jacuzzi, Hot Springs and D1 reflection series. I feel pretty confident with these local dealers and I think the wet test will make the final decision easy (I hope!).
  5. Looking to but a hot tub for the first time - looking to spend $8,000 to $12,000 and do not want to make a big mistake as far as repair problems - any recommendations for most reliable brand or model. looking for approximately 7 feet by 7 feet with no lounger. Any help would be appreciated....
  6. We are looking at the D1 Lotus Bay and liked all the bells and whistles but then read some bad reviews on this forum about repair problems. Does anyone out there have good experience with this spa? We were also looking at Jacuzzi and Hot Springs. We really do not want to buy a repair headache. Any input is welcome.........
