  1. I am no pool expert, but I am the owner of a rover cleaner too and can only tell you what experience I have had with him. We have owned him for 3 years now and I can tell you it will not clean big items or "loads of stuff", including large amounts of algae. He is meant to be used for everyday cleaning once the pool is clear of large debris. I usually use mine after we have used the pool or a storm to get out the fine dust and debris that people bring in the pool or gets blown in. He will pick up some leaves, but his performance lessens as he fills with debris. Also be sure to wash his filter bag out because he picks up a lot of very small debris that may not get picked up in the filter system. You need to wash it in the washer when he seems to slow down really quickly. Your pool will stay clean with rover, but you need to vaccuum with the filter system first and be sure much of the large items are out of the pool otherwise, rover will only make a pass or two in your pool before you have to clean him out.-- Good luck. PS- i too am the "pool girl".
  2. - Oh-- and i used clorine bleach last year to kill the algae and some of the posts on this board to help me.
  3. I had this problem last year. Once you kill the algae (or as you are killing it) your pool will look like a science experiment, but keep running your pump, scrubing the bottom and adding your shock... it will clear up. It took me about 2-3 weeks to have my pool balanced and once I got there, I maintained it with floaters in the pool for the rest of the season... don't get discouraged...keep it up. At the end of the swim season be sure to close your pool down too... it will make opening it up next year much easier...There is hope.
