  1. Is it a new hot tub or new to you? If it's older it might need the pipes inside cleaned out. Purge the tub to get the build up out. Good luck!
  2. FYI -I just installed the new style flow sensor. It doesn't need the calibration board. My black epoxy sensor failed after getting a bubble type crack in the epoxy that let water into it. That caused a 170 code right away.
  3. Do the new type R0452500 Jandy Flow Sensors still need the little calibration circuit board like the ones before? Or does the new one have it built in the box on the cord?
  4. Picked up the new cover and it fits perfect. No snow here in San Diego. We do have a West Marine...so I can get some 303 Protectant.
  5. I ordered the cover from the store where I bought it. They had a form to fill out all the measurements (which I did). They seemed to only really need the model of spa and what color I wanted.
  6. I just re-stained the cedar wood sides and getting a new cover soon. Good info. THANKS!
  7. Thanks for the reply. I went with Olympic Maximum Stain and Sealant. It's semi-transparent in a color called Sierra. Looks awesome!
  8. I would try calling Jandy first. Be ready to be on hold a long time!!! The flow sensor most likely is failing. They know about the problem with them. The new flow sensor (Tri-Sensor) comes with a Tri-Sensor Adapter that plugs into the front board, then the sensor cable plugs into that. The adapter board has a calibration button on it. After you install it, let it run for at least 4 minutes and then hold the little calibration button for 5 seconds until the flow light lights up.
  9. I'm getting ready to stain the cedar wood around my spa. I pressure washed it and got it ready for staining. Anybody know a good brand that works good?
  10. I think when the temp is below 50 it will only produce chlorine in boost mode. Make sure your water IS the same temp as the sensor is reading. The sensor might be acting up.
  11. Maybe they should make you Moderators. You have my vote!
  12. My Catalina spa has a regulated power supply mounted inside to power the stereo. Anyone know if the fan is suppose to run all the time? I never really noticed it before. The brand is: JKK model CDY-15
  13. Good to hear it worked. When you say removed "jumper" from the adapter board. Are you talking about the (R0538600) AKC13 Adapter cable? The adapter cable is for front boards that don't have clearance for the adapter to fit, and makes it possible to move the adapter out of way. Like an extension cord in a way. If that's what you are talking about, I don't see how that would make a difference. Anyway...The main thing is it is working now making chlorine.
  14. Failed at 9 months? You try to warranty the sensor? Sounds like one with epoxy failure. If you have paperwork from your purchase contact Jandy.
  15. You might want to try this... power it on and let it run for about 4 min. first so the temp reading will stabilize. Then hold the button for 5 sec. to make the flow light come on.
  16. Sould be able to replace the seals. Try searching for a how to video about replacing Jandy Pool Pump seals. Good luck!
  17. I just wanted to update this post just in case someone runs into the same problem. I ended up putting the seal back in sun for a good 20-30 minutes, and after about 10 minutes of walking the new seal into the groove on the seal plate...GOT IT! What a pain! I'm not sure if the almond color seal would of been easier, but the black seal worked in this case.
  18. My Whisperflo pool pump sprung a little leak, so I got a reseal kit and went to work putting the new seals in. All went OK until I got to putting the pump seal plate gasket on. The one that came with the kit is undersized a little, and I can't get it to go into the groove on the pump. The original one is almond color and the new one I'm having problems with is black. Also it came jammed in a plastic bag with everything else. I put it out in the sun a while to try to expand it, but no luck. Should I order the almond colored seal? Anybody run in to this before? Thanks in advance.
  19. Cover off when shocking always. Shock it weekly and after each soak. I think weekly you would be OK at 2oz per 100 gallons. After each soak with only 1-2 people, you should be OK with about 1/2oz.or a little less. After a while you will get a feel for the shock demand with the number of people using it. The non-chlorine shock doesn't work for me, my wife hates the Bromine smell and it is less of a chemical smell shocking with bleach. Just my opinion, everybody has a formula that works for the spa they have. Good luck!
  20. It sounds like you have a older model Jandy 1400. Sometimes called a 2 port or square cell. The replacement cell is the 3 port. The 2 ports are hard to find anymore (I tried). If this is what your problem is, the cell is a little longer and has different union threads at each end. Needs to be retrofitted. I updated mine about a year ago. Welcome to the forum!
  21. After checking prices of new ones, I remembered about the switch at the bottom. I cleaned the cell a week ago and the flow sensor or DC cord must of hit the switch in the "off" position! Works great when the switch is on! Pool Clown, thanks for your reply and help as always.
