  1. Drain the pool about 1/2 the total volume or 6" below the hole wich ever is the largest volume to remove the pressure on the top rails. Then remove the top rails and lower the liner around the effective area about 8' on each side. Tape a plastic along the wall about 4' on each side of the hole. Then sand the effective area. then take a flat piece of galvnize metal like flashing cut out a squre about 3 x 3. Next spread sealent over the 3 x 3 patch place it over the sanded area where the hole is then spray a rust stopper over it several times then duck tape it very good. wipe the walls down to remove the sanded particles and carefully remove the plastic. replace the liner and top rails and refill.
  2. HIP Hip Hurry FormerWTPEmployee for this link.
  3. sounds like the pluming from the skimmer might be blocked or parshaly blocked. Since I can see your set up maybe hooking the pump discharge to the skimmer and a hose to the pool to the socjen of the pump could clear it. But Be best to call a pool company to check it first. Thats by best quess at whats wronge and sulution.
  4. AHh look at all the threads about wave tec. Its the most hated pool company on this web site. Glad they brushed me off just asking were their office was.
  5. From what I have read about wave tec I dont want to get involde with them either. And we did call them about a month ago and only got put on hold when we ask where they were located took them 15 mins to come back and tell us there only office is I belive they said san Marcus and its the only store in Texas. Can rember if they had a show room or if they were a ware house only. by that time I could care less where they were. She could of told me were they were and yes or no if they had one set up to see how it was done. I say dont worry about them worse they could do is turn you over to the credit bural. But I dont think so. They are inanoff hot water now anyhow they are being sued right and left.
  6. I have also researched doing it yourself. Have gotten estments on digging the hole out and that blew my mind. One contracter said he do the job of diging the rough hole for a 16' x 32' x24' an L shape pool. He wanted 1500.00 to dig the hole and the same to haul the dirt off. That was two years ago. Was really thinking about it. We put it on hold good thing we moved. Now were in a new house and was thinking of it again but the vinl liners from what I've read here like the wave tec pools or ones similer have lots of problems. But most of the problems are if they are not level or square and away of getting rid of the dirt. Our new home we can use the dirt we dig out as back fill on two sides. But we have changed our minds about a vinal inground pool. fiberglass be a better choice or a gunite pool. We decided on taking a 24' above ground pool and sinking it 40" into the ground with a strch liner so the center be deeper than the sides <52" sides><62"-72" center> Under the pool we be putting down a 4 inch base of gravel then a weed blocker then a 4 inch layer of sand. Around the sides of the wall of the pool wrap it with plastic and back fill with a 12 inch wide gravel and weed blocker to keep the dirt out of the gravel The gravel to pull the water from the soil. Under the pool bottom dig a 2' x 2' x 1' foot hole and place a pvc pipe with holes in it to drain any water out from under the pool to a sump pump or to a area away from the pool below grade. In Our case we have a 4' drop over 60'. If you do what I'm thinking of doing once you sink the pool your waranty is void and you have to be carefull if you ever drain it. For depends on your soil in sandy soil the soil can cave the sides in when emty in clay soils less chance of the sides caving in. So you see with our yard we can dig ours out easyer and use the dirt as back fill around the pool. No matter what you decide on doing you have to get rid of the dirt. Have found someone to dig out the spot for us and sence we our keeping the dirt the cost be around 1000.00 . So think about it really hard and try to plan every detail. For us the total cost be around 3000.00 to sink it. Good luck on your pool project. Ours will start in three months when we pick up the pool. I will post a web page so you and others can follow it along and tell me what they like and dont like. I will be taking my time.
  7. Our old Doughboy pool we had I just keep up the water treatments and added the chem. For the water in the most part want get any higher than the skimmer top edge unless your skimmer is above your pool wall. We had a float toy block our skimmer one night during a rain storm and the next morning in the rain had to unplug the skimmer for the water was running over the pool walls. When the rain ended check the levels and aw-just to bring back into line.
  8. Have leared alot from this post. And I will not let my new pool pump Run More than 12 hrs or so. As I did in the past It I let run 24/7 I had the cleanist water in town. Only the darn pool Vac would get tangle with the ladder. Unless I pulled it out of the pool.
  9. We had a 18 foot Doughboy that I bought from a friend. He really did a bad job of installing it at his house. His yard slope upwards away from the house and had a 3 foot rise. He bought the pool like 10 years ago. And dug a trench in a circle. Installed the pool it had a 4 ft deep end and a 2 foot shalow end at the skimmer. When I picked it up the pool wall was in great shape no rust at all still had the fake wood grain on it and all it cleaned up nice. The liner was wasted but I patched the hole where the skimmer was. That was a job and a half patching a 1 foot hole but it held for a year till I decided I should relevel the pool for I had raised one side of the yard with fill dirt. The pool had settled by 2 inches on one side. When I got the new liner and drained the pool cut out the old liner for it was the easy way to get it out. Installed new liner and re-leved it.
  10. In another post a person mention a sump pump. I read in another web site on how to install a fiber glass pool. In it said once the hole is finished one must dig a 4x6x1 foot hole in the deep end install a 2" pvc pipe and cap it off. drill holes in the pipe the entire langth of the 6 foot hole. Cover the pipe with gravel and place a weed fabric over the gravel to keep the sand from cloging the gravel. have the other end of the pipe lead out to a pump. I thought why not just out to a hole out from under the pool bottom to a barrel or a large dia pipe so you can drop a sump pump down to drain the water out when it riase high anoff to trigger the pump. As for those that had their pool pop out of the ground Im sorry but still have to re set-it again with another installer for I dont belive it is a do it your self deal.
  11. Was thinking of a pool of this kind. But the more that I have check into these kind of pools. There seems to be a bad flaw. If you order the pool with those walk in plastic steps you have a very good chance of having a leak along them. The amount of water pressure on the seal at the steps could blow out the seal if the liner is not cut out right. Then there is the matter of alinment. If you are not within a 1/4 to 1/2 side to side end to end and corner to oppiste corner the liner will be streched wronge will causing too much pressure on the seam at the steps also and or cause folds and strech marks in the pool liner. Imagen holding a 1x1x1 foot sandwich bag in the shape of a square filled with water. Think of all the forces you will have to cope with to maintain that shape. Holding it will destort it, the water will push out the sides, so you have to push them back in. It just can be done. It's the same with a pool of this kind. Yet if people reall want to get this kind of pool dont install the lights in the walls, leave out the bottom drain forget the steps. You then can clean it like a above ground pool and as for steps use the same kind as above ground. Not the lader kind the pedlestal type. I want to install a pool but untill we pay off our cars our dept ratio will not allow it. But we may just install a above ground pool instead. At least the frame can hold all sides of the bag and the ground can hold the bottom. When we feel it is right a cement pool would replace the above ground pool. Basicly all wave tec did was take the consept of a cinder block pool and install a liner inside to seal out leaks.
