  1. Look it's yours, but I personally wouldn't do that... in theory it would work. but, it's fairly quick and easy to install that element.
  2. yes 240 is right. when the pumps shut off does it keep going back to the 888 then 355? or does it say anything else on the screen?
  3. It should run... Don't try to wire the element up unless it's installed in the manifold and the spa is full of water and ready to go! You do not want to dry fire that element!
  4. Dude, its the heater. One heater relay is closed at all times when the board is energized, (Except for when it goes into a o.h. condition, a hi limit call opens it). the other relay closes during heat cycles. If you connected the leg that is switched (on the right), it wont trip till the board closes the heater relay after the whole primer 7 minutes deal. because, there is no power to the heater on that leg. If it runs without both heater legs connected, it's the heater. Let me know if it works.
  5. cup of water and earth, what? Just a thought.. wouldn't pulling the fuse from the primary side transformer also power down the secondary side of the transformer? Seeing as how the relays use the secondary voltage on the coils to close, would that leave all the relays open? I would think that would stop the triping right there if it were any componet that were on a relay.. such as the ozonator, pumps, blower, heater, lights, stereo transformer.... or am i wrong? I still think you should disconnect each componet seperatly untill the breaker resets.
  6. Don't forget to vacumm the lines... they freeze and crack fast.
  7. It does go away when the pump is running, so I guess that is what it is. I am fairly handy, so do you think this is the type of repair that I could do myself, or should I get a service tech in for it? Any tips/articles to do it myself would be greatly appreciated. Thanks The pressure sw. located in the heater manifold, it's the round looking thing about 1.5" tall that threads into the manifold. it has 2 light gauge wires going to it. Close the slice valves going to your equiptment or drain the spa. disconnect 2 wires, unthread, install new one with teflon tape on threads, reconnect wires, open valves/refill...done. Btw, turn the power off to the spa before you work on it.
  8. It's been awhile since I worked on any spa builders packs... but, I seem to remember -04 meaning pressure switch closed when should be open. that said it should go away when the pump is on. if it does, replace the pressure switch. cheap easy fix.
  9. Anybody out there able to help ? Will 556 is just a newer revision of the 555 eprom, Nothing to worry about at all. all functions are the same.
  10. no, find the heater... it's silver tube along the bottom of the pack. it has 2 terminals on it usally connected with copper flat straps. disconnect both. reset to see if still trips. dont pull fuses to find the faults either, unplug the componets seperately untill the breaker will reset. last disconnect the spa from the breaker to see if its a bad breaker.
  11. Most of time, tripping on Balboa packs is the heater... disconnect both lines going to the heater and see if it still trips.
  12. The stereo and light are seperate issues. does your spa have the colored led lights? if so, its the controller... The stereo on your spa has the poly-planner model. The ribbon cable cable on the fold down front panel tends to crack after a while. look up poly on the net, they rebuilt them for a decent price. btw, both parts are only warrantied for 2 yrs.
  13. Calypso... 750 series. Only lasted a few years.... it wasn't their best but, I still have a few out there running with no problems. Personally, I'd look for an optima/cameo if you were to go with a sundance. As far as the d1 goes, I hear good things but, I like sundance. let me know if you want more info on that calypso.
  14. Bad temp sensor... replace it or call your dealer if still under warranty.
  15. Watch dog mode. 99% time it's the temp sensor.
  16. They are both good quality spas, Sundance and Jacuzzi share thier enginneering and parts as they are owned by the same company. But, the J-365 is in a lower line than the Majesta. It would be more compareable to a Sundance 780 series spa, as the majesta is top of line 880 series... Check out the 400 series in the Jacuzzi, to compare it to the 880 sundance. Either way, You should be happy with the quality.
  17. All sundance spas are full foam and have an abs bottom pan, I don't know what that guy was showing you... but something is not right. Btw, All spas are only coated on the shell in the equipment bay.
  18. I might have a circuit board laying around for that... if your intrested...
  19. the 288 and the 287 boards should be identical, all you should have to do is change the eprom from the old board into the new one. make sure you put it in there the right way. look for the little notch on the end of the chip. btw. if your old board is older than 2001 I think? it may not work... but, if they look identical it will diffently work.
  20. Yeah, good luck with that one... They owed me for months for a few service calls also. Every time I would call/fax I would get "let me check into it and I'll call you back"... After a while I just gave up. It doesn't seem worth the headaches of the legal system just to get a few bucks. The messed up part is... even after I told them that I will not do any work for them, they would just keep faxing me service requests. And then even asked me to fax back thier sro's once so they could find someone else to do them. As far as them going under, I don't think it could of happened to a better group of people. Another thing I noticed, is these home warranty companys don't like pay either. You guys had any issues with them?
  21. The 04 cameo pump 2 draws water from the lower suction fittings down by where your feet would be, not the primary filter. Do you still have the lint nets on the suction screens down there? If so remove them and then try the pump. I'd bet they clogged and need cleaned.
  22. Forget the dream maker, atleast in the winter... Did the dealer happen to mention thats there is no actual heater on that spa? For my 3 g's I'd look elsewhere.
  23. what balboa controls does the spa have? Assuming that the pump is pumping water, and the spa is calling for heat... I would check the pressure switch is closing when the pump is on.
  24. the board controls the ozone, it is probally working all the time just not turning on the icon. you can normally hear a buzz coming from those ozonators when they are on.
  25. if it's a blown cap, is that something that can be replaced individually? Is that what the spa is doing, restarting constantly? you can probally tell by looking at it if its bad. I think it is a 3300 mfd right above the trans plug on the board, the top will be domed and leaking. Yes it can be repaired. But, if you don't know what a capacitor is or you don't have any experience in soldering pcbs, I would send it out to be repaired or have the board replaced.
