It sounds like a lot of work. Of course you're assuming that you don't run into any more issues once you get into it. I'd say if you have the time to dig into it this summer and you're doing the work yourself, then go for it. Otherwise, I'd probably look for a good deal on a used, quality spa. They are out there. I bought my Hotspring Sovreign for less than $1000 and it was 3 years old at the time. Good luck.

Yes. I am having the electrician set up the wiring correctly according to the diagram. Will I need to set up the jumpers differently to get the correct power to the jet pump motor or will it be ok as it is?

It's definitely a Sovreign I from the serial number but i also definitely has a Wavemaster 9000, so I'm thinking this model was just mislabeled at the factory. I do remember the previous owner saying something about the jet motor not working so he probably had the same problem I'm having. I'm sure the pump will work fine if I can get the jumpers set correctly. Does anyone know how they need to be set to run the larger motor? This picture shows how they are set now. My GFCI breakers are set up correctly. I have a 20 and a 30 Thanks. -Joel

I bought my 2004 Hotspring Sovreign about 7 years ago. I bought it used and the wiring was cut away from the spa so I didn't know if it would work at all. I bought it at a very good price and had it hooked up according to the manual. I noticed the main pump motor kept overheating. When I looked into it, it turns out that I had a Wavemaster 9000 jet pump which is a 230 volt motor. The documentation says that it should have been a Wavemaster 6000 which is a 115. I ended up purchasing an AO Smith pump and installed it myself. I kept the original 9000 pump since it was in near perfect condition. The 6000 motor never really pumped enough water to get the jets really going. Fast forward to this month. My breakers needed to be replaced so I called my electrician to come and fix it. While he was here, I thought I would put the old pump back on and see if I could get it working. When I looked at the wiring it made no reference to a Wavemaster 9000 pump. I couldn't find any reference to it in the manual at all. I'd like to get this pump wired up correctly. Does anyone have experience with this model? Mine is definitely a Sovreign but it looks like it's equipped with a Highlife jet pump. Thanks. -Joel

Sounds like a problem with a thermostat or you could have a stuck switch on your board. The switches will eventually wear out I had mine replaced at Spaboards.

I got the part ordered. BTW, I looked up my spa using the serial number. It's a 2004 model (I1F1429). After looking through the forum archives. it looks like this is a weak area on Hotspring spas in general. I'm glad I didn't have to dig through the insulation to find this one. I have the lens ordered. Do you have any instructions on how to replace the old lens with the new one? I'm assuming I won't have to use any Devcon epoxy in this fix. Thanks. -Joel

I have a Hotspring Sovreign that I bought back in 2007 Recently, it developed a leak around the light lens at the back of the equipment compartment I need to know if I need to replace the whole assembly or just the lens. It's leaking at the bottom of the back of the light assembly.

First, I'd call an electrician who has experience with spas. That being said, I'd rule out a faulty breaker by having it replaced. I recently had this issue come up and this fixed the problem. Good luck.

Don't know what version you have, but the jets have been improved. They are covered by warranty for 5 years. You should contact your dealer. I replaced several of the rotating jets on my HS Sovereign when I purchased it used a few months ago. Several of the old jets had fallen apart. I ordered new ones and noticed that the new ones have been re-designed to be more durable. I haven't had any problems so far with the new ones. The entire jet scres in where the old ones had a housing that screwed in and the jet assembly snapped into it.

That's a good question. I have a Covermate II. I'm not sure if it reaches that far.

I bought a Covermate II. It's very well made and I like the low profile. It does require some clearance though like all low-profile lifts.

I replaced one on my Sovereign a couple of months ago. Very easy. I used silicone caulk to seal around it. Also, use masonry string to pull the cord. It won't break.

I hope if they are replacing that cover for no charge you are going to return the money that you get for that cover to Roberts. Or were you just planning on making a few bucks at there expense. I would just think it would be the right thing to do.. Actually, me selling it was their idea. Sorry I didn't make that clear earlier.

What are the length and width of the spa it is supposed to cover? It fits a Hot Spring Sovereign. The measurements are 80"x93"

I have a NIB cover from Robert's Hot Tubs. It's made to fit a Hot Spring Sovereign. The hinge on this cover runs the length (long measurement) instead of the width (short). There was a mix-up on the order so they are making me a new one. They have told me that they do not want this cover shipped back to them, and I'm authorized to sell it. (I'm sure they would be happy to confirm this over the phone.) This cover has double wrapped inserts, vinyl straps and handles. The color is Rust. Again, this cover is brand new and never been out of the box. PM me if you're interested and I'll make you a deal. -Joel

Thanks for the reply. No, the Moto does not work. There does not seem to be enough pump pressure. I also noticed one other thing. The diverter valve has 2 settings instead of 4. This along with the Wavemaster 9000 seems to indicate that this is a Sovereign II. There seem to be clues that it is a Sovereign II. You are correct that the 2 position diverter valve goes with Sovereign II. However, serial number disagrees. I wonder if someone switched tags. What color is your spa? Have you had a pro look at it? The serial number is what's really throwing me here. If it weren't for that, I would assume that it's a Sovereign II. It's a blue Erndural tub. It WAS a 220V Sovereign. Again, I am guessing here, but it is possible Watkins was not using the II designation. Wavemaster 9000, 2 position diverter valve, blue quarite all point to a 220v spa. It sounds like you need the bigger pump and the correct wiring. I'll have to change the wiring from the GFCI box but that's what I'm planning on trying next. I had thought about the possibility that this is a "ILE" tub but, again, the serial number would be different. Strange. I'm not sure how this one got out the door.

I'd call the dealer that sold the spa and see if they have data on the install date. Other than that, I'd say that they misrepresented the spa in question. I'd either demand a deep discount or insist that they take it back. Either way you should not deal with these people ever again.

Be careful with black. It shows dirt very easily but it does look great when it's clean.

What year is the sovereign? 110volt or 220volt? Jet pump problem may be from not enough water in the tub and the filter area can get sucked dry, or the floating door may be getting stuck up (with the jets on it is supposed to go down) and not allowing enough water to the filters. As far as the heat, is the power light or ready light flashing after a short period of time? If so, the circulation pump may be airbound or not working. The soft clicking is probably the water in the heater boiling due to the circ pump not pushing water. Sounds like your circulation pump isn't working. Open the access door and see if you can feel it vibrate. If not, it's dead. Also, your water feature should be working. It's powered by the circ pump.
