  1. I have a Hot Springs limelight pulse which we just had delivered last weekend. I posted a similar question/comment about the temperature & does it show on the display. That is the one feature I believe Hot Springs should add as a standard (not option). As a newbie & 1st time Hot Tub owner, this would have assited me immensely. I ended up using my digital kitchen probe to test the temp of the water (I did have a problem, the dealer had given us the wrong sub-panel & it was a headache getting the tech to actually come & find the problem I was complaining about. Thanks to this message board, I did not give up on my request for answers & the tech finally checked for a problem & found the problem). I need to purchase a new digital Kitchen thermometer before Thanksgiving now, but it works great as a Hot Tub probe! The one other suggestion I have for HS is a simpler, "how to for dummies" manuel. I am not proud nor arrogant, I would appreciate a "how to for dummies" manuel. A chapter designated on exact installation instructions & checklist for the Hot Tub owner (so we can check to see if we received the right items from the dealership/retailer). Are you enjoying your Hot Tub now? I have a posting about the Limelight Pulse mauel...check out the posting & responses. You will enjoy your hot tub more after reading my initial nightmare & beware before getting any questions answered by my Hot Springs Tech! Good Luck & Enjoy being a Hot Tub member! vkb
  2. I was hoping Dan The Spa Man, the Hot Tub tech would post the information on this message board. I called the Hot Tub dealership I purchased my Hot Tub from on Tuesday morning. After speaking with a woman there & being put on hold several times, she scheduled the tech to come back to my home & check my Hot Tub. She stated the Tech & (I believe the ex son-in-law) were both coming to my home around 2pm. I told her my husband would be there. The tech (same one) discovered the dealership had given us the wrong subpanel!! He immediately went about correcting the problem. He removed the wrong sub-panel(only had a single 20 amp breaker & a double 30), replaced it with the correct sub-panel (double, double breakers). Our Hot Tub immediately came to temp. My husband & I enjoyed it for the first time last night! Two of my daughters enjoyed it yesterday as well. The temp did not come down after an hour of use!!! The Tub felt so much hotter, even though it reads 103 degrees, the water actually feels much hotter!!! I was at work the entire time the tech was at my home but my husband called me to tell me the tech apologized & told my husband to convey the apology to me. The tech also stated he is going to replace the chipped panel on the Hot Tub (chipped by the delivery guys). Thank you to everyone who gave me suggestions! The only thing missing to make this 100% is a message posted on this site from the tech explaining what was wrong with the Hot Tub operation and how consumers should be able to check & correct it. A good piece of information to have had. That, would have been the ideal posting. The ideal correction to a nightmare I was experiencing, for something I have saved for & wanted for so long. On the bright side, I discovered & joined this wonderful sight. I will be a follower and possibly a contributor of this site from now on. There is some great info passed along here! Thank you! vkb
  3. Thank you for your information. The service tech (same one who sent this response here, I am not happy with him) did tell me yesterday the 3rd time I called, that it heats 3 degrees an hour. I do not know where he is getting the 40 degree initial water temp (my tap water is not that cold & 40 degrees sounds cold) but if it initially was 40 degrees, plus 62 equals 102 degrees (pre set temp). 62 divided by 3 equals 20 hours 40 minutes. Heck, I kept the cover on the Hot Tub and would only lift it slightly every couple of hours to stick my hand into the water on Saturday, to feel if it was getting warmer. Sunday the same but instead of my hand I finally figured out I could stick my kitchen digital thermometer into the water for a few seconds & get a reading. After 3pm Sunday, I didn't check it again until 8pm. Then again at 11pm. Then Monday 6am my husband checked it. Then again at 9am. It isn't like it was freezing outside, we have had a nice spell of weather, 50's & 60's. The cover was constantly on the Hot Tub. We weren't playing with it (even though the family & I wanted to) and we have wanted a Hot Tub for over 5 years! Now, the 2 people who went into the Tub for 1 hour & 15 minutes today (it was nice out again today). It took over 6 hours for the ready light to come back on & the Hot Tub to read 103 degrees. 6 hours times 3 degrees equals 18. The Hot Tub dropped over 18 degrees in 1 hour and 15 minutes!!!!???? They did not have all the jets & everything going the whole time, on the contrary, only for a few minutes, they liked sitting in it better than all the bubbling action, but the cover was off for that 1 hour 15 minute time frame. Do you have any suggestions as to what may be wrong? Could the electrician have wired something wrong or left a wire off? Could the heater be shutting itself off & on so that is why it takes so long, the mauel states not to fill the Hot Tub with Hot Water, some kind of switch shuts off if you fill the Tub with hot water, could this switch have mistakenly shut off? Could something have been pulled loose or shaken loose during delivery? Any suggestions or advice would be so apprecated. Thank you
  4. Well. the hedges the entire lenght of my property is where they dragged the tub along! If you did not see these hedges, then you were not at my house! I did not state they damaged my hedges, but they dragged the new hot tub along the hedges & there is a little chip in the corner of the Hot Tub!!! yes there is approx 15 feet between the end of the driveway & the patio of all grass. The delivery truck parked out in the middle of the road in front of my house. They turned the Hot Tub around in the trailor by sliding it around, then unhooked the trailor from the truck. Then they squeezed between the truck & my hedges to pull the trailor down the road & into my driveway. I suggested to them several times to back the entire truck & trailor into my driveway, but they stated they would do it their way. The road is only 10 feet wide. The truck is what, 5 feet wide, the Hot Tub is 7 feet 5 inches wide so the trailor is at least 7 feet wide. 7 feet plus 5 feet is 12 feet. The road is 10 feet wide!!!!! Tell me how they got by the truck with the trailor (which was behing the truck) without dragging the trailor along the hedges. The hedges are at least 6 feet tall. I was right there watching them do this & I was shocked, but I was also excited about my first Hot Tub. The hot tub was up & running by 3pm Saturday, November 8, 2008. By 3 pm Sunday November 9, 2008 the Hot Tub was only at 93 degrees. I filled it with water, Westerly City Water/ City Water. The owner's manual states it takes 18 to 24 hours to come to 102 degrees, factory preset temp. I was told by the delivery guy & by one of the people at your shop (ex son-in-law of owner, whom the owner told me was the person left in charge while he was away) it would be up to temperature within 6 to 10 hours. Maybe I heard what I thought, maybe they said it "may be" up temp within 6 to 10 hours. But..... By 10 am, Monday, November 10, 2008 it was up to 103 degrees. That is a lot longer than 18 to 24 hours later. It is over 43 hours! 2 people went into the Hot Tub at 10:45 am and got out at 12 noon. The Hot Tub did not come back to 103 degrees until after 6pm. Is this normal? Does it normally take 6 hours to come back to the set temperature? It was another nice day today, not like it is freezing outside. The cover was off the tub for 1 hour 15 minutes. It takes over 6 hours to come back to 103 degrees? As I stated before, this is my first Hot Tub and I am unaware of all these things. My husband called a friend (who purchased his Hot Tub from your establishment, the same brand as I just purchased). Our friend came over immediately on Saturday to show us how to operate the Hot Tub. He also helped us test the water & add the first chemicals. He told us his Hot Tub heated up within 6 or 8 hours after his was delivered. My husband called him today & asked how long should it take to come back to 103 degrees. Ours took over 6 hours. Our friend told us something is wrong with out Hot Tub. His is the same as ours and his does not take that long. That very rude note you left on my door today was uncalled for. You checked off the box stating " No service performed" and underlined "could not access pool/ spa". Then added next to Comments "As I thought, there was nothing wrong with the tub. Temp is 103" and everything works perfectly." 2 sides to every story, well your version is far from accurate. I will call your establishment tomorrow. I would like someone to come check the Hot Tub, someone who will actually see if the heater is working properly. Maybe the electrician hooked something up wrong. You told me on the phone that could be a problem, but you yourself asked me which wire was hooked to what & I answered each & everyone of your questions. You told me everything was hooked up correctly. What is the answer then. Why did it take over 43 hours to come up to 102 degrees? Is it normal for the Hot Tub to take over 6 hours to come back to 103 degrees when someone is in it for slightly longer than 1 hour? Do not tell me everything is working perfectly, when the owner's manual states 18 to 24 hours. vkb Might I also add (after reading your post again) that I never said a bunch of people said the display should show the temp, I asked you how do I get the temp on the display. You put me on hold & read the manual then told me this Hot Tub does not show the temp. I do not have well water, I have city water & I never said the Hot Tub didn't heat up at all, I just wanted to know how long it takes.... especially when one of the 4 the delivery guys told me about 6 to 10 hours (the other 3 delivery guys were in the truck beeping the horn. I am not exagerating, they were gone in 5 minutes! When they first dragged the Hot Tub off the trailor & slid it across the grass onto the cement block paver patio, it was crooked and a little to close to the sub-panel. They were all leaving when my husband & I asked if they could starighten it out a little. They shoved it back & forth, sliding/dragging it on the patio. I said something about them dragging it & they said that's how you do it. It is heavy duty plastic on the bottom & it is made to be dragged. I began to ask some questions as to where the chemicals were, the other 3 delivery guys had already left with the trailor. The 1 guy who was still there pointed to the box & said everything was there. I asked about some kind of quick set-up instructions the ex son-in-law had told me about which had directions as to what chemicals were needed for the 1st initial set-up, as well as a quick set-up for the first time set-up. He said it was in the box. I asked if we could fill the Hot Tub with the garden hose & a hose from our hot water heater, he said sure. I asked about connecting the sub-panel to the Hot Tub, he said he was an HVAC tech, he could do it but not as part of the delivery. All they do is bring the Hot Tub & they were running late because they had been stuck behind a parade so they had to rush back to pick up & load another delivery. Then he left. (In the background, the other 3 guys were already in the truck, beeping the horn). When I attempted to tell you about the delivery guys the 1st time I called Sunday, (I never left a message on any answering machine, I called and you answered) you said you were just a service man, you had nothing to do with the delivery. You never said you would tell the manager anything about it. I had told the ex son-in-law about it on Saturday, when I called to ask some questions & ask if there was a tester included for the water. He had told me he would be there until 3 pm. If I needed anything call back before 3. I called back a few minutes after 1 & he had already left for the day, early, something about leaving early to get to Massachusetts for a couple of days. I did not need the attitude from you today. I believe there is something wrong if it takes 6 hours to come back to temp after 1 hour & 15 minutes of use. I could very well be wrong about this, the manuel doesn't tell me. I have a 200 amp panel, all the wiring for my property is only about 6 years old, including from the main street, down my road & to my house. It is 220 volts, are you telling me the electric company may not be sending enough voltage to my property & that causes the excessive amount of time to heat the Hot Tub? I do not understand your attitude. vkb
  5. Wow! I'm sure everyone has heard of the phrase "There's two sides to every story" Well this is the perfect example. VKB, I am the service tech that you spoke with on the phone yesterday, with all due respect every point that you have made on here varies from slightly wrong to greatly wrong. I almost don't know where to start, but I'll give it a try. You make it sound like we were avoiding talking to you by saying that you called 4 times. I believe that you left one message on the machine before we opened. You then called a few minutes after we opened and spoke with me. You first made several complaints about the delivery guys, which I replied that I only fix the tubs so I'm sorry about that and I could pass this info on to the manager on Monday. You then told me that the tub was not heating....so after a bunch of questions back and forth you actually revealed that the tub was 92 degrees, which means it did heat about 50 degrees based on the fact that well water is usually in the 40's. You then asked how long the tub takes to heat up and I said up to 24 hours depending on your actual voltage and amperage draw. Since you still had 5 hours or so to go before the 24 hours was up, I suggested that you wait and see what the temp was at 3pm. You also mentioned that you saw in the manual that it may take 24hours, so I don't understand why you claim that nobody will answer you. You then called back about an hour later and asked how to get the actual temp. to show on the display. John told you that it was not possible and you told him that you were chatting with people on a message board and "a bunch of people" said that it was possible. Is this the message board then where are the posts mentioning that it was possible to display the current temp? You then called back before 3pm and said that it still hadn't heated up any more. After confirming that the wiring was done right, I told you that I would come out tomorrow....not that I would try. Also, you asked me if the tub should heat up faster due to the warm temperature outside, and I said that the fact that the outside temp was 50 degrees would have no affect on the rate at which the tub would heat up, and I never said anything about heating up in 12 hours. Where are we at now? well I just made a trip out as I said and the tub was at 103 degrees and running perfectly. As far as the delivery guys, I have not spoken with them yet but I already am skeptical about several things after seeing your setup (which is very nice by the way). First you told me that they destroyed some bushes because they didn't bring the tub in the way you wanted to. I drove straight into your driveway this moring, and the tub is about 15 feet away. There is nothing but grass within about 80 feet in every direction. Where exactly were these bushes that they ran over? You also told me that they slid the tub all the way across you patio...the tub is on the very end of the patio, all they would have done is slid it off from the spa-dolly onto the exact spot that it is sitting on...this is how spas get delivered. There are specific directions with the Limelight to not put any dollys under the tub, so this is how it is done. I saw no damage to anything. I'm not really sure why you have altered the facts of this story, but our company has been in business for 43 years, and this has not happened by screwing people over. I'll see if I can get ahold of the delivery guys today to hear their end of the story. Enjoy the tub.
  6. Thank you. I paid for this "added" service. I did not negotiate on the price, I paid exactly what the owner told me the price was. He is also the one who told me the delivery, set-up, chemicals & explanation all were included in his price. He told me 5 year warrantee on everything & 10 years on internal parts. He threw in the stairs, supposedly, as well because he wanted me to purchase the floor model, which supposedly was on display for a month prior to my purchase, so I could get my Hot Tub immediately. Well, it took them 1 week to deliver it anyway. Now I am wondering if this is really what I paid for. I did ask several people who have purchased hot tubs, where to go & they all said to go to Treat's, they have the best service. This is the only place I went to, just for that reason. I am so dissappointed, upset, ... Thank you for your response, I was wondering if I was right or wrong to expect good customer service.
  7. We just purchased a Limelight Pulse Hot Tub (6 person 380 gallon). It was delivered yesterday (1 1/2 hours later than quoted) Delivery men dropped & dragged the spa across my patio within 5 minutes & were gone. Not the delivery I was told about when I purchased the Hot Tub. The Hot tub was hooked up & turned on by 3 pm (only took 1 hour to fill). Everyone said we would be enjoying it by 9pm. It is 1pm the next day & it still hasn't come to temperature. The manuel states 18 to 24 hours, but shouldn't it be close to temp by now? Also, shouldn't the display show the current temp? I have so many questions that have not been answered by the manuel & I was told by the dealer that the hot tub would be delivered & set up. All they did was drop it on my patio. When I asked them some questions, they said they had to get back to the showroom. No answers, no putting the spa where I wanted it, no nothing! They even chipped a little corner of the outside cover when they dragged it across my patio! Does anyone have this hot tub who could give me some simple answers? How long does it initially take to come to 102 degrees? How do I get the display to show what the temp of the water is currently? Please! Thank you. just talked to service rep for 4th time today, he had us take off the panels & tell him what was hooked to what.... he said it was wired right, he will try to get out & take a look at the hot tub tomorrow. I am very unhappy!!! Srvice tech finally said it should have been to full temp within 12 hours with the nice weather we have been having! Why didn't they send a tech out this morning if that was the case?!!!! Should I return this hot tub?
