  1. Not really sure how to explain my issue. The pressure of the jets is uneven. Two jets next to each other are not blowing totally different. For instance the seat with the shoulder jets. The left jet blows harder than the right jet. I adjusted all the controls on the top and tried adjusting each jet. Nothing helps. Also my electric bills are astronomically higher than they were pre-spa. I just had a new balboa vs spa pack installed. I use the tub every evening for about an hour. Is there a setting I can change to only heat the spa for use in the evening?
  2. I live in New Jersey and just had a Balboa VS pack installed on my master spa ls700.I have the spa set on Standard mode at 100 degrees. It is constantly running. My last electric bill was about $180 higher than usual. I usually use it for about an hour at night. I get home around 6 and like to use it around 8. Can I turn it down during the day to save electricity. How long would it take to heat back up for use? Is there any kind of program feature available to set it for use at night. Thanks for your help.
  3. Where would you find that online? Would it be the right one for a Master Spa LS 700. I have three motors and two speeds. I am learning as I go. I'm not very mechanically inclined, but that would be one heck of a challenge. My stepdad is an electrician, so I have someone to help. My son and I tried to change our shower head and screwed that up, so I am not real confident I would be as talented as your 69 year old mother. Oh and to JKM saying the parts were a bit high, the temp sensor I was charged $206 installed was a $46 part. They charged $120 for the part and $86 for installation. Haven't looked up the motor yet, but I can't wait now. I also want to call some other spa repair companies to see how much I saved by giving the business to my "friends". My "friend" is coming to look at the tub to see if it is the board or the whole pack that is malfunctioning. I can't get the spa to do anything but run continuously. The top side won't even come on. What a mess and I miss my spa Would have been a perfect night to relax and watch the Eagles kick ass.
  4. Thank You! I was weighing the option of having the motor repaired and according to my stepdad it would have been about a hundred bucks. I have a store in a shopping center and the pool/spa guys are my friends upstairs. They sent out two guys to work on the spa. If I hadn't called them, I wouldn't have known the valve was bad. I would have kept going through motors. As for the spa pack, they tell me there is no way to repair the relay.According to Balboa, I need a new pack. I am a girl and just don't really understand all this stuff and will prob electrocute myself, which was the other reason I called the repair guy. My total bill so far was just under 1,000. Oh and that was with a "discount" because they are friends of mine. I haven't paid for the new thermostat yet, but the problem isn't fixed. Thanks for the tip about spa-boards.com. I will definitely check them out and I need all the good luck I can get. Is it normal for all these things to go bad at once. Any other posts are definitely welcome. I am interested in other peoples repair experiences as well. Thanks again.
  5. Against everyones advice, I purchased a used masterspa ls 700 back at the beginning of september. I got it hooked up and running and within a few days I noticed a couple jets werent working and it made a funny noise. I called the hot tub repair guy to come look at it. They told me I had a bad valve that was closed, which caused the bearings on the motor to go bad. So I had them order a new motor and valve. Cost on that repair was Duraject 2.0 hp 2 spd 230 volt motor $370, 2 valves, 2 pump unions, and 2 valve $ 31.00 Shipping $50, and labor $260 for a grand total of $741. Then I noticed the temp seemed cool, so they came out again. This time they installed a new APC temp sensor part BB30337 $120 and $86 for labor with a total of $206. The temp still was 12 degrees off, so they came out to install a new heater and told me the relay for my second jet is stuck and burned closed so I would now need a whole new balboa pack which they would charge close to $3,000 to install. Am I getting ripped off by the repair man who is also a friend of mine? They told me the invoices they have supplied already were discounted as well. I now have someone willing to install a new power pack(he is a certified tech) for a cost of the unit around 600 plus a hundred bucks for labor. I am so frustrated and just ready to give up and drain it til I can afford to do something with it or sell it to the next sucker. Can anyone shed some light on the situation? Help Please. I love my spa. It is the best part of my day. Is there a way to repair the relay? Any info you provide would be helpful. What do average repair costs run? Am I being taken advantage of? Does anyone have experience with a situation like this repair? Thanks for taking the time to respond.
  6. More times than not your are OK. the best thing to do is let dry completely before putting any power to the spa Thank you so much for your response. I was really upset.
  7. Congratulations, I hope mine is up and running soon:)
  8. Hi, I am the girl who bought the pre owned down east portsmouth last week. I finally got it delivered, spent all day cleaning it and upon the advice of my electrician started to fill it. He is coming to wire the electric tomorrow afternoon. I started to fill it and everything looked good. After about a half hour I went to check on it. Water was gushing out of the plastic pipe running right next to my heater. The movers obviously didn't have it connected tightly. I manage to tighten it and it is holding water fine, but now I am really concerned I could have damaged my heater. Please tell the box is water resistant! Its only been a few minutes and the outside of the box is totally dry. Thanks, Tiffany
  9. Okay have my first problem. The moving company showed up with box truck and just a driver. I am now up a creek without a paddle. I have an electrician coming tomorrow and no hot tub. I already obtained the manual and all the information she still had. Is it possible to rent a truck and enlist some friends to help move it and what is the best way to move it? What kind of truck is best? Are there any services that you know of in the South Jersey, DE, Philadelphia area. The hot tub only needs to be transported 38 miles so $600 seems a little steep for the move.
  10. Thanks for your input. I couldn't resist the temptation of owning a spa and I am an impatient person. I went with the newer Portsmouth model. I arranged to have it shipped via Uship. I have a mover moving it for $200. I am very nervous as I have not seen it operational but I have met the seller twice now and seen her beautiful home and do not feel she would be the type of person to sell a defective spa without disclosing potential problems. (I am probably being naive but I have a trusting nature)She has been very helpful and answered any questions I have had about the tub. The other seller with the drained LS700 tub has been evasive when asked about whether the tub had an problems, leaks, etc. I have the tub being moved tomorrow and the electrician coming Sat or Tues. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I hope to have it up and running by next Thurs. I will keep you posted and be back for your expertise in the water chemistry department I am sure. I also told a real estate client who just bought a home with a pool about the forum. I am sure he will be logging on as well. Thanks again for all of your help.
  11. I am in the market for a used hot tub because I can't afford new. I am torn between a 1999 Master Spa LS700 and a 4 year old Down East Portsmouth SE. The LS700 is drained and clean so I can not test unit and the Portsmouth is half full and rather dirty from not being cleaned in several months. Both units are selling for $1200. Can anyone please help me? Also how do you transport a 94X94 spa? Uhaul maybe?
