  1. Yup, I got my chem kit from Spa Depot and indeed, you got to shock that water. Still working on the hardness and have decided not to care about the Ozonator. Is ozone making a true difference by the way? What happens when it really works? In the meantime, I have been ENJOYING this tub every single evening! A 20 minutes soaking session makes me sleep like a baby which is GREAT since I would wake up every night 3 or 4 times. It’s such a great experience too to just sit there, get a massage, watching the stars, hopping from one station to the other… I love my tub!
  2. Hello fellow hot-tubers, I am about to drain my hot tub for the first time. I used bromine pellets to sanitize and prevent my tub from becoming a hot soup of green gooey algae. How should I dispose of the water properly? Can I dump the water in my yard without sterilizing 20 acres of land? Any advise?
  3. Yeah, me too the water seems to be backed up in the ozone tube... the water in it is very cloudy by the way. I tried running the spa in any setting and there is nothing happening on that tube (no bubbles, or anything). What is supposed to happen when it works properly? Thanks
  4. LOL, I don't know if your friend is pulling your leg or what but unless he got 2 of them he didn't pay $14k for a J-375! Ask him to see the invoice!! Ah ah.. I actually don't know how much he paid for it but all I know is that is the model he had and that's the price I found on the internet... I hope he didn't get ripped off if $7Ks is the real price
  5. FYI, here is another thread about the same spa. Nice pictures by the way. Also, I didn't remove the stickers as I think you're supposed to leave them there. Enjoy!
  6. Ok, so now that I have passed to "new Spa really cool" buzz, I decided to spend some time moving from one position to the other and checking out the controls and what feature is here or isn't. First of all, everything works except that apparently, Infinity forgot to ship two of the rubber head cushions (the ones that snap on the upper part of the tub). Nothing major and I am sure this will be resolved soon. Second, I am going to run a comparison between an $14,000 spa that I was in 2 weeks ago at a friend's place (the Jaccuzzi J-375 series). I know, I know, some people are not going to be happy about that (apples and oranges they'll say) but I have seen on this thread so much about the Laguna Spa being $3000 not being the same as other more expensive ones that I need to address this. If you don't care to read the review, you may just jump to the last paragraph where I give my bottom line. If not, please carry on. - The Shell: well believe it or not, the shell (that blue plastic surface that makes your tub) is as smooth as the Jacuzzi's. Back then, that was something that I really liked on the Jacuzzi. It is kind of soft and rubbery which is good because the spa absorbs shocks when you sit down. I was VERY hapy to see that this material was used. The caveat is that there is maintenance that comes with it (got to clean it with a special cleaner to keep it nice and smooth when you drain the spa). - The Frame: Well, that was expected I suppose. It's really cheap wood that they used on the Laguna, unlike the Jacuzzi that has definetly a more solid, rot-free structure to offer. I suppose that as long as you keep rain water from running under the spa and standing there, you'll be fine. I need to make sure that this won't happen on mine. - The insulation: well it's confirmed. It's as good as the frame. They used a foam can based product that they sprayed around the shell (inside the cabinet/frame of course). I am sure one can do better. I am thinking of spraying some more, or use these polystyren little bits they use to ship fragile items in carboard/UPS boxes. Anyhow, it's definetly not as good as the Jacuzzi (and by far). - The Jets: Now, THAT is a forte for the Laguna. There a 15 more jets that you can individually open, close, diminish power, lower power. And let me tell you, you indeed DO get blasted when you concentrate the power on one sit, like JMAN03 mentionned. It also has that position where you can have the top of you shoulders massaged (the only thing is that I am too tall so I can't sit straight on that position but not a problem for me . The Jacuzzi's jets are bigger though, so more water comes through less jets... I guess it's a matter of personal preference at this point. The Jac also has more valves (those knobs that control the power on one sit) unlike the Laguna which has 2 (one that control all the sits on the left and another one that controls all the sits on the, well, right. Foot massage is a feature in the Laguna; you can transform that water fall into a jet for your toes... not in the Jac. - The water pump: the pump is 6Hp on the Laguna while the Jac has 2 with 4.2 HP. And there is a difference indeed if you have all sits being used... when you open all jets on the laguna, you do feel a lack of power... Since me and my wife are the only ones in, we're happy with what we have but I fear comments from my dad and sister when they'll come and give it a try (Nic, is it on now?.. yes it is... Are you sure because... I said Yes It Is ). - The air pump. Some have said it's useless and in terms of massage, it is. In terms of making kids happy and/or feeling like you are cooked like a lobster, it's right on. The air however is not heated so you will feel some cold air under your, legs and higher. Can't remember if the Jac had that but it probably did and did it better. - Light. I am sorry but I reaaaaly like this mood light (changes colors automatically). It adds something to focus on when you stop all the jets for a moment... you know, when you're relaxed.. like " ooh dude... green... nice... purple... nice too... red.. sweet... ". You get my point . So there. My bottom line. Well it's my first spa and I am truely happy with it. If I take good care of it, it will last me a while, I am sure. Sure, I would prefer the Jac but for $11,000 (that I don't have) less, the Laguna really is a bargain. No regrets whatsoever. If you need to relax, enjoy 1/2 every night of decent massage, this is it. If you need something for health (back pain, circulation, etc) reasons, you might want to look for another one although you will get something out of the Laguna. Happy tubing
  7. Well it finaly arrived last Friday... it looks great and I had it wired yesterday (watch out for a sticker price here, it's $800 for a certified electrician to plug it in ). EVERYTHING works... I had a little bit of trouble getting it out of the sleep mode (defaults to this mode apparently) to Standard mode... after 2 hours, the water was at 100 degrees and calling me for a try. It is awesome... you can modify every single jet and indeed focus all the power on one seat (preferred one is the shoulder b laster one) and man... it's good. I still have to get the water straight though but that has nothing to do with the hardware. I love my spa even the mood light is cool. I'll add some pictures later... Thanks everyone.
  8. Thanks Jman03... I printed this explanation just in case this site goes down under and I have the same problems. I should receive the spa middle of next week. Good stuff on the insulation. I am schedule for (yet another) trip to Lowes this week end and I'll get all this. In the unexpected event that I am indeed lucky, I'll take some pictures of how the wiring, tubing and all that junk is connected on mine... Thanks again and good luck with the banging sound.
  9. Ok... so I am now in "expecting a problem" mode because with my luck, I will be part of the unfortunate 1% . I'll run it for 2 weeks before I put it in its final enclosure and see what happens. Thanks for sharing your experience here, Jman03. Can you provide some details on the actual problems you encountered? Thanks Nic in Ric
  10. Wow... this is discouraging. I too clicked on the Add to cart button on that infamous night of 8/2 and now I am kind of worried about what I am going to get here. Problem for me is that the tub is going to be "integrated" in a deck that is being built. I better run it at first for a little while to see if all is ok. The good news is that the only feature I wanted seems to be available: That comforts me! Anybody received this tub without defects???
