  1. Newbie--I think he meant hose bib---where you drain the water out from the tub and also the pumps. Located under (but outside of) the pump/heater panel door on front side of the tub. Should be two bibs, one on the left is for the tub and one on the right is for the pumps. They both have petcocks that you have to open even if you take the caps off. Hopefully this is all that is wrong. We've been digging foam out of our '99 TR Bengal for a year now, tracking down multiple leaks. The really hard part is breaking the bottom hard foam to get to the softer foam and then digging it out, a little at a time.
  2. Thanks Spa Savant! You'll have to forgive this engineer with too many projects in the fire. I completely forgot about the summer setting. Now that I've figured out it was the GFCI breaker giving me the problem, I'm ready to dig into foam and determine where the leaks are coming from. I suspect one is around the light housing as I see screws that are rusted behind the lens. I know the circulator pump has a leak as I saw it when I had the cover off and was running the pump.
  3. I know it goes to sleep, but you are able to push any button and wake it up. It doesn't wake up. It will show you if the jets are on or if you raise/lower the temperature but will not show the water temperature on regular setting. Also I checked the floating thermometer and it was showing 104 and I had set the temp. down to 93.
  4. The display goes to "sleep" after a few seconds. It's just the way it was designed. You can still tell at a glance if the water is ready as long as you can see the green "ready" light is illuminated... which you can see pretty easily from a pretty good distance.
  5. I replaced the GFCI breaker with a plain old plug. Hot tub started right up with only air in the lines that needed purging. I will be getting a replacement GFCI breaker before we use. However, I now have another question/problem. The power light comes on, no blinking, the green ready light comes on. Display is blank. You do get a display if you run the jets of the jet symbol or if you raise/lower temperature, but it doesn't stay on, goes right back to blank screen. What's up with this??
  6. Yes, it's the gray GFCI plug. That is what I am expecting also, because when you do hit the reset button, it doesn't really feel like it goes into place quite right. The wife is going to try it a couple more times today and see if she can get any response out of it. If not, then I'm going to start really troubleshooting the electrical end of things.
  7. Kept resetting the GFI breaker, finally it held. Did not do anything else to spa. Looked at the digital readout-nothing-no blinking light, no steady light, absolutely nothing. Tried to push the button for the jets to come one, kicked out the breaker and now the breaker will not hold again.
  8. This a.m. I unplugged the heater from the circuit board, still trips. Disconnected the main line from the circuit board and the GFI breaker stayed on. Reconnected everything and tried the reset button again on the GFI--sounded like the circulator pump was trying to kick in and then would trip. Maybe the breaker is weak? It also seems to have a large amount of air in the pump system. How do you purge the lines and pumps to get the air out? The owner's manual is useless on this.
  9. Figured the leak is another story all together. We dug foam out last summer to fix a couple of leaks. I'll check tomorrow the try to unplug the heater from the circuit board. Will let you know how it goes.
  10. After draining our "99 HS Tiger River Bengal because it had developed a leak and was too cold to try to do any repairs to it last November, I filled it up today. Immediately started leaking from the bottom right rear corner and bottom front. Went ahead and filled, plugged into GFI, hit the reset button, kicked out, tried the reset button again. This time the power light was blinking. Pulled the GFI, waited 30 seconds and replugged in. Now it will not turn on at all, just keeps kicking the reset out, like it has a short somewhere. You can hear the circulator pump trying to kick in, but then it shorts out. Could this be due to a air lock in the recirculating pump or something else? Check the main breaker in the house and it's fine. Just from the outside GFI to the hot tub.
  11. Thanks to all for the replies. I checked our manual and it is the same as the 2005s and up. I was really wondering about antifreeze just to make sure to get into the joints, pumps, etc. Not looking forward to digging out all that foam again and this time we are going to rebuild the old redwood cabinet also. Should be an ongoing project for next spring and hopefully will be up and running with no other problems.
  12. Looks like our HS Tiger River Bengal (1999) is starting to have a major leak again. Loosing about 2 inches of water a week. Showing wet all around the base and running mainly out the right back corner. This late in the year I am afraid I don't have the time to dig out foam and track down the leak before really cold weather sets in. My question is this--is there a way to winterize the system and then I can start work on the plumbing come spring? If we get another 3 feet of snow like last winter, there is no way I will be able to keep up with the weekly fill ups to keep the tub functioning correctly. Any help would be appreciated.
  13. We also had to repair leaks on a Tiger River spa. Before I used the Great Foam I wrapped the joints in black plastic to make it easier to find them if I needed to dig it out again. Just let the foam expand completely before adding to it, otherwise you will be shaving off a lot of excess.
  14. Is it wet near the seat with the bank of 10 small "Precision" jets? If so you may have some glue joint leaks there. We had a spa tech replace those jets on a previous repair. We found a glue joint leak in the middle of the tub where all the lines connect. Repaired that also. The majority of the water seems to be leaking along the right hand side of the tub from the lounge area back, also in the back of the tub. I've also noticed a small seepage along the front and front left corner under the filter location. We've decided to let it go until the weather cools down enough to work on it. 98 in the sun on concrete is a bit much to work in, especially when you have to dig out all that foam (again).
  15. Well the latest on our Tiger River Bengal is not good. We got to enjoy it for four months after repairing the leaks we found. As the hot tub gremlins smiled upon us--we now have another leak. Looks like a big one, wet concrete on the right side of the tub. Water level sank about two inches in three days. We're holding out for the heat wave to end so we can start looking for this leak. Does it ever end?
