  1. Some points have been made. When dealers are bad mouthing each other its a bad reflection on the tub company bc these guys are going after the $$$ and not selling the tub on its features and obviously they dont know how to sell. Next There is no more jet issue in the new tubs that was back in 02 and it was a waterways problem not Calspa. The whole Chicago dealer thing was addressed by Spaman in an earlier thread when dealers carry more than one line sometimes one company will offer more incentive to carry theirs over the other in terms of lower buying costs kickbacks and other things. With the complaint issue its only common sense where Cal produces a hell of a lot more tubs then the mentioned companies so sure your going to find more complaints and most were dealer issues. The fact is dont believe everything you read If you are that gullable to be swayed by a few distraught people then you should do a lot more physical research in general. Here's an example both Ford & GM have had Multiple issues and recalls with there vehicles I dont see people piping up every 2 seconds with "hey dont buy that because I read on the net that......." Basically go with the tub that will fit you the best period
  2. If you enjoyed your Cal for that many years why would you want to change. Get another Cal with a similar mould and enjoy another 10 plus years. The benefits will be better jet configurations more efficient running tub, and lifetime warranty on the heater. Marquis makes a good product as well. But sometimes change isnt always better
  3. You will be happier with a Beachcomber or a Pacific over the Arctic Better seating more useful options and IMO not highly over priced.
  4. Cal spas has the capability to produce 600 in a day but there would be a quality control issue as every tub has to be water tested for a half hour. I haven t been to the new facility yet but I dont think there is enough people to do quality check lists for that many tubs in a day. I can also say though out of the last 15 people Ive dealt with its been between Arctic and us(Cal) 10 have signed with us It also helps when you have customers who still love their 14yr old Calspa and are willing to promote the brand without some sort of kicker
  5. You dont need to shut off the pump when you attach the vacuum hose once the hose is full from priming put it in the skimmer. What may be happening is you are causing an air pocket in which the pump will not gain prime therefore you have no suction and you are just stirring the debris around. Or your sand is so clogged up you will have to use some filter cleaner or change your sand. Lastly if everything else is alright buy a different vac head get one with rollers no brush it works 10X better and faster plus it doesnt stir up the dirt on the bottom of the pool. Ps if the dirt is fine sand you may have a cracked lateral in you sand filter
  6. Not a silly question at all There are alot of variables what condition the cover is in does the heater have any build up in it do the motors sound like they run well or on their last legs. Check to see how everything runs Hi speed low speed fell the pressure from the jets. Look for all the little things that might be wrong or could go wrong bc alot of little things add up.
  7. WOW Jim, that was actually a decent post a sales pitch though and not about the 2 tubs in question but it has been better than some of the others.
  8. Hijacked again!!! What is your deal? just bc they arent going to buy from you you could at least offer some normal relevant info on the two products that we are discussing on this topic instead of your back handed opinions If you have something to say about Arctic SAY IT!!! If you have something to Say About Cal then SAY IT but watch what you say I had an interesting convo with a particular person at Cal 2 days ago Who would like to be emailed if there is any slanderous accusations regarding Their product or company and please dont take it as a threat I just want these people who want info to get it afterall Im not getting any money if they buy a Cal spa somewhere else!
  9. Hijacked once again and of course the link is all written by the Hijacker Thank god we're not on a plane AS the rest stated the lower figure is more reasonable
  10. The jet problem is true I would have to say. In 2002 I am not sure what happened but yes jets were crumbling The jets popping out was an issue that was ressolved a while back the backs of the jets have changed in design and in material It wasnt just Cal having this problem it was a large number of tub companies with this problem. Im in Canada and I have no problem getting parts especially jets for most of the previous years models except a few jets in that year. It was a Waterways problem though not Cal With respect to the proprietary parts every tub company has them thats what makes everyone different or we would all be the same. Cal spa has the Xl heat exchanger which is warrantied for life, eliminator plus wet ends which are also warrantied for life. and a couple other small things. If your looking at getting a tub that has the cheapest aftermarket parts then you are not looking at quality. Would you not want to buy parts that are made for your tub so you know it will perform like it is supposed to. Its a shame about the dealers lack of commitment but some guys flip tub companies every couple of years looking for the bigger better deal.
  11. Tom, Im not disputing about the ARC study If I can find that old brochure in the stacks of competing material I will indeed send you a copy. But if it was a dealer who made it up for a promo why would it be in the brochure I got from the dealer in Ontario. Care to spin that one????? or you may want to ask your bosses to tell you the real answer.
  12. Hey Jim, I thought you said you dont come on here to try and sell spas Why would anyone believe that Arctic study in Colorado as most in the Industry know that was a bullshit study and it was made up by Arctic if you look in the Arctic books 2years ago it said the study was conducted by Loveland Utility Company of Loveland Colorado Which does not exsist. If you look on that very same page now its not there bc they were made to take it off. So you should research these things before you start misleading people ONCE AGAIN or are you going to next say it was you that made Arctic fix their brochure or you would expose them oh yeah one more thing once you do your research with my information and find out its true you then need to SHUT UP
  13. Go with any Calspa in an 8' configuration that has the True Blue Safety suction system Who else can boast a vacuum release system for the suction area beside Hot Spring " which has no suctions on the bottom of the tub"...... What a minute that doesnt conform to BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH
  14. Unless you can find a service tech that works for a dealer that sells all 3 brands you will only get personal opinions or you have 3 friends that own one of each and test all 3 Other than that you will never find a true answer. Just bc one maybe touted as better doesnt necessarily mean you will like it.
  15. Ask your local Cal dealer how many tubs he has sold with the ATS system and the feed back I have sold a limited number of tubs with the system and have had mixed reviews some say it was the best option they ever got and others have said it was a good option but are unsure if they would get it again Not one bad review about the system though. But for your Height and size I believe the Calspas will be a better fit. But I could be wrong
  16. I believe you will not have to buy an upgraded cover for the Avalon since it is already 5"-3" but for piece of mind you can spend about $100 more to get the "walk on" cover that is 2lb density foam from Cal Why worry about upgrading your tub and drilling more holes down the road get the tub you want now. When you try to aftermarket new jet holes it weakens the the structure up here if you drill new holes it voids the warranty of the acrylic unless your dealer rights up a contract saying they will cover the shell warranty after they ve done the work. By the way Boetta if your gonna use a house analogy think about how your home is heated If you use a forced air furnace it has a ducting system to heat your house much like a regular spa a furnace does not radiate heat from the basement to heat your house
  17. Shawn, Go with your gut on how you feel about the tub you want to purchase. plus you want to look at dealer support. If one is more reputable than the other you should have your answer. You are also comparing an 8' to a 7' tub or did you mean an A726B either way both company produces good tubs. The longevity of an Arctic remains to be seen. To give you an idea if arctic is better than cal in cold climates we have had 7 customers who have all had a cal for 12 plus years ran them year round and bought new ones bc of the performance in winter. We get temperatures as low as -40 celcius in the winter. The efficiency of the older tubs in my opinion was kind of poor and cant touch the new tubs. You shouldnt have to rely on pumps to keep your cabinet warm. Boettas relpy sounds like a dealer presentation word for word
  18. I sell Cal up In northern Ontario Canada & we ve had no issues with heat loss or high energy bills Myself being 6'2 245 I understand your need for comfortable seating and not having your knees almost up to your chin when you sit in some seats in other tubs. I just changed over from a Classic 36 Tropical which is a 7' tub to an Avalon 857L which is an 8' tub with a lounger that will fit anyone up to 6'5 comfortably The Calspa Atlantic is an 8' tub where you will be able to add neck jets on either the lounger or the other corner seats ranging from 2 jets to four jets. You can choose where by looking at the line drawing at your dealer or on the Calspa web site. If you are looking at getting the ATS seat for your tub you would have to go with the Atlantic. For the ATS system is not available as an option right now on the Avalons.
