Wow...I agree with the above quote. No way I would put another drop of water in that pool with it being constructed like that. Yes, I would let my ins. agent know about this, but I doubt they'd be much help. It's hard to get insurance companies to pay off on much of anything. The idea on calling the attorney...if you want something done...call a lawyer. I'd say the company would be out there pretty dang fast if your attorney called and put in a "word" for you regarding the construction/safety issues with your pool. You don't pay big bucks to get a pool installed and have it screwed up from the very beginning. Let us know what happens...

I'm going to bet that my TDS level was too high for the pH stabilizer. pH hold is a liquid. My dealer never once told me not to use it based on any certain level. What a joke for a "chemical specialist." So, what do you do in this regard? Drain it and ditch any more of the pH hold for future use? Thank you for any information! I'm just curious...should I drain the spa and start over again? Leaving out the pH Hold liquid this time? I don't want to be causing damage to my hot tub. If anyone can answer this, I'd appreciate it... Thanks!

Well, here's a bit about an ongoing problem I have been dealing with for about the last two weeks. Keep in mind, I've owned my spa (Nordic Sport) for 11 months. It's been totally trouble-free and I have loved it. I thought I had things "down pat" keeping it balanced, but oh well... One week ago I did my routine drain/clean/refill. I added one bottle of Ph Hold to the water. I had not used this before (thinking this started all my troubles). However, my Ph was always borderline low, so I was working hard to keep it where it needed to be. My dealer suggested I try some Ph Hold. The first thing that happened? I noticed this almost translucent film on top of my water. It was just barely there, and I was thinking it would clear on it's own with filtration. Hmm... The next thing, I noticed this white, chalk-dust like stuff on my black intake at the bottom of the spa. It's the place where it sucks the water in to take to the filter (not sure what the proper name for it is). It's the thing you don't want your hair caught in though...I know that! Anyway, it was covered with this white looking stuff. I got my spa brush out and I brushed it off the intake cover and the next day, it was still black looking. Good, I thought. OK, now the problem? This morning when I checked the spa, on the seats, you can write you name in what looks to be this "dust." It's not thick, it's just a little film that is covering the shell now. I have tested the water and also had it tested at the dealer. They tell me everything is OK. My test strips tell me things are OK. Yet, here is this film! I have no clue what to do about this. I don't really want to get in the spa with that in there even though I get "normal" readings from my water. If anyone has any clue as to what this junk is and how I can rid my spa from it...I would be ever so thankful for your advice! I'm just slightly spazzing...

Thank you so much for the reply!!! I'm very happy to hear that considering I was at my wits end with my spa dealer. Now, I just hope I don't need service on it for a long time so I don't have to call that store.

My husband and I have been using a brand called Spa Tique in our hot tub for about 1 year. We are chlorine users and have been very lucky so far with no major catastrophes with our water balance. At first, our Ph would be on the low side, but we finally figured out how to deal with that, so we are off and running now. So, our problem with Spa Tique? Our dealer. We have the world's most snobby spa dealer. I honestly hate going in that store to buy anything. The dealer acts like his customers are wasting his time and in his way...it's just a very uncomfortable, icy feeling in the store. Like, when people ask a question, the dealer basically acts like his mind is somewhere else and he just says "yeah," or "dunno," or shrugs. He knows nothing about water chemistry, nor does any of the college boys he has working for him in the store. Of course, we bought our spa there, and when we bought it, they were the nicest and most knowledgeable people on the face of the earth. Once they got our cash, the romance was over. I found another dealer that is way more friendly and who sells Lifetime spa chemicals for hot tubs. I am looking to stay with chlorine, and purchase one of the larger supply packs that includes everything from the Ph up, Ph down, sanitizer, shock, spa cleaner, wipes and more. I just "heard" somewhere that if you change brands of hot tub chemicals, it can be dangerous??? Is that true? I mean, I know when we change, we are going to do it at the next water dump/refill. I just want to check with everyone here to make sure I'm not going to make some gigantic error in switching brands. I don't want to give myself a rash or anything weird. Thank you in advance for any suggestions, comments you might leave for me. I spent about an hour last night just reading people's posts and I love this board already! So informative!
