  1. I am having trouble with the CC test. When I follow the instructions to get the FC I then add the 5 drops of R-0003 and the test does not turn pink. I took a sample of the water to the pool store and they said my CC was very high (about 7 with a FC of 2). The next time I did a test for CC the sample did not turn pink immediately. I than waited about 3 minutes and the sample did turn pink. Any idea why this would be? Am I doing something wrong?
  2. I bought the Taylor K 2006 test kit a week and half ago, used it 3 times and it is way more test kit then I need. I will include the original receipt and everything that came with the kit. Shipping from Phoenix is $10 or free local pick up. If you are interested, please send me a message. Click my name to the left of this message and click send message. Thanks.

  4. My Chlorine-Free Shock Oxidizer is per oxy monosulfate (45.2%). Same as MPS?
  5. Anyone attempted/accomplished this? I am in the same situation.
  6. I just purchased a used 2004 Dimension One Lotus Bay. They delivered it yesterday and I have a question regarding the Ozone (which is brand new). It is not a constant flow of bubbles coming out, more a spattering of bubbles coming out, similar to puffing smoke - but they are bubbles, not smoke Also, there is a lot of debris floating in the pool, looks like dead skin. I initially thought it was from the initial water fill, but after thinking about it not sure how that would come from a municipal water source.
  7. Thanks Spa Guy. Does anyone know how I can confirm the model year of the spa?
  8. I am looking at a 3 year (maybe 4 year old) used Dimension 1 Lotus Bay from our local dealer. They have it on consignment for $8,000, delivered. Includes the used cover, cover lifter and steps. They replaced all headrests, inspected all parts and they will replace the ozone if it is the original unit. 2 year 100% parts and labor warranty from them (they have been in business since 1983 with an A BBB rating). They will also extend the lifetime warranty on the shell (though the warranty is not with D1 as they are not transferable?) Only thing not covered is the cabinet. They will sell me a new one on clearance for $12k. They say the only difference in the new vs. used unit is the used has the old control panel. The used spa is no-tax (I think I will actually buy it from the current owner and not the store) and the store will give me the warranty (which I will review in writing prior to purchase). I did see the tub, but it does not have water in it. Any reason I should be concerned? After looking at the used unit, I am pretty excited about getting such a great spa in price range.
  9. I noticed a small amount of green algae along the water line yesterday for the first time. Small is defined as about 1/4" inch of algae covering less then 1/3 of the water line (it was worse on the sunny side of the pool). The water is also noticeably cloudier then it has been. I took my water sample to the pool store, he recommended Silver Algaecide followed by two bags of shock 1 hour later. He said my water tested "ok" and we just needed to treat the algae. About an hour after the shock I tested myself with test strips, PH was about 7.0 and Free Chlorine was pretty high, I would guess 10 or greater. Now the pool pump problem... The directions on the Silver Algaecide said to run your pump for 72 hours. After about 3 hours of it running I noticed that the pump was to hot to touch (I never noticed it before, but after researching a bit, that is not uncommon). But then the leak, a small slow drip, drip, drip from under the pump. I let the pump run another 4-5 hours but shut it off. Any concerns with not running the pump for the 72 hours with the silver algaecide in? I have a service call in on the pump. A little more info that might be helpful. About 3 weeks ago I took my water to get tested (because my test strip was reading 0 free chlorine) and they said my phosphates where high and they tried to sell me phos free for $40. I did not purchase it in fear of getting pool stored, and intended on doing some more research . At that same visit I was told to add 1/4 gallon of acid. Well, I added the acid but never researched Phos Free. I also added a few more chlorine tabs to the floater, over the winter I generally had 1-3 tabs, now I am more like 4-5. A little background on me, I am new to taking care of my pool so I apologize if I am not using the correct terminology. I started last summer and chemically all has been fine, I have occasionally added acid (as directed by pool store) and shocked a couple times but that is it.
  10. I backwashed my pool yesterday afternoon and forgot to put it back to normal flow. This morning I woke up and 12-16 inches drained from the pool. I am in the process of filling it back up, what do I do after it is full? Shock it? I live in Phoenix and have a chlorine pool.
  11. I just tried some more trouble shooting on the pop up head. When I stand on the pop up with the system on, the head begins to work with a little pressure from me. I feel like I am pushing down about 1/4" which engages the head and it begins to work.
  12. Yes, I am referring to my pop up cleaners. I removed the top of the pop up mechanism and all seems to be ok. There are two pop up heads that are powered at the same time, one is working ok the other has the low power. Any suggestions on how to remove the pop up head to check for debris?
  13. You mentioned you just moved in over the winter. Any chance you have a home warranty that covers the pool equipment? I moved into a house with a pool last summer and had a slight suction leak, after a few unsuccessful minutes of trouble shooting I decided to call in a warranty claim, paid my $55 service call fee and it was fixed in 10 minutes.
  14. One of my pop up's does not have as much pressure as all the others. Not sure where to begin... Any suggestions?
  15. I just moved into a new house with a pool for the first time. If I shock my pool, will the chlorine level increase? I am currently in the 5 range for my chlorine level and don't want it to spike if I add shock. Regarding the use of shock, how do I know if I need it? The pool maintenance company I used for the for the first 3 months I was in the house never shocked it (when I asked them about it they said it was not necessary if you keep up on your chemicals).
