  1. 18" PIPE ANCHORS! Even in 100% dirt/grass is deemed safe by ASTM. I do 2nd the idea of pouring crete, but it's costly. My guys use the pips and as long as they are installed correctly you'll be fine! Mesh or Solid btw! Have a safe winter season!
  2. Per ASTM standards lawn steaks aren't acceptable as an achoring system for more then 20% of the pool. While it will keep the cover in place, the concern is the debris that will accumuliate on the cover will be more then what the lawn steaks can support. Think snow load, deer, neighbours kids and tree limbs. Your best application in dirt/lawn/pavers etc, is Pipe Anchors. You can get these from any pool supply retailer. These are hallow aluminum pipes w/ an anchor inserted at the top. Using these will enable your Safety Cover to meet ASTM standards.... which will apply to any insurance issues that may result from an accident. Additionally, Pipe Anchors will not shift in the dirt therefore, your cover will have a drum tight application lessening the chances of wind damage (cover being beaten on the coping for a season will greatly reduce the life and in most cases void the warranty). I hope that answers your question! J
  3. To suggest that other brands can hold "Bubbles" is simply not true. ASTM standards don't include her. I try my best to recommend products from companies that that are as straight forward as I am. Loop-Loc is one of those companies. I have worked with other cover manufacturers. Loop-Loc is who I am most comfortable with. The safety cover market is highly competative but not all covers are made the same. You get what you pay for, and it's not just the cover that counts, the installer has a lot to do with it, especially if the installer measured the pool too. When I refer to a "Baby Elephant" as stated in prior posts...I'm referring to weight in general....it could be a widget or it can be 20 first graders, point is, the weight of a baby elephant..."Bubbles" or not...... is not impressive in terms of a mesh safety cover. I've had pick up trucks, horses, golf carts and most importantly children avoid drowning due to a Meyco cover. Thankfully, "Bubbles" did too! I'll be happy to pass that on to my customers with pet elephants. For what it's worth, you do get what you pay for! I wonder how much it cost Loop Loc for that marketing ploy?... (most expensive safety cover on the market BTW). Oh and ASTM standards include gross weight calculations...so if gravity applies to elephants I'd say "Bubbles'" weight is covered...no pun intended. However in real-life applications I couldn't agree with you more regarding installation! You are spot on!
  4. I've had nothing but pleased customers with Meyco's mesh and solid products. The elephant is a great marketing tool but Loop Loc has yet to impress me. All of the safety covers on the market are meeting or exceeding the ASTM standards....so all of these covers can hold a Baby Elephant...again marketing is golden! There are other covers mentioned but in my travels, the original mesh cover company does it best!
  5. Here's another perspective. I've seen folks put a pump on a mesh safety cover due to "poor drainage". At times, the cover should sit on the water, and well.....the pump will actually begin to remove the pool water. Naturally a pump shouldn't be used with a mesh cover. Hey, anythings' possible!
