  1. All of these ideas are great, but if there is no power, kind of hard to run the space heaters etc. We highly suggest you do not drain!!! Unless you winterize properly, which without power you can not do, not a good idea. If you have a quality tub you have quite a bit of time before a freeze issue happens if you leave it full of hot water. if you have a tub that the components are isolated from the tubs body of water, most full foams are like this, make sure to block off any vents, try to keep that area as warm as possible and keep your fingers crossed that the power is not out for days.
  2. you need to hook up the other hot line, and move the dipswitch if you want it to heat while pump is on high. No jumper is needed in this system.
  3. Is everything running properly? Try powering the tub down, unplugging the topside, its like a phone jack, make sure there is no corrsion on the plug and plug back in tight, power back up and see what happens.
  4. I messed up a bit, Rec warehouse started in NY, evolved into leisure bay spas then moved to florida we were a dealer for them, went to the factory and got the whole speil. Some of the rec warehouses have gone out of business, but many of them are privatley owned, not owned by leisure bay. I have been trying all the numbers we have for leisure bay, my old sales rep ect. The only number that is working is parts, and no one answered the phone, i had to leave a message. We are trying some other calls too. I just want to know if my customers have any warrenty any more or not at this point. The leisure bay factory is also where they made dream maker spas. Leisure manufacturing is tied up with IPG, they are in Lakeland florida, not lake mary and said they are not leisure bay, they also make sunrise spas. We will continue to dig....I want to know!
  5. Are you saying they closed the factory in florida, IPG is in canada, across the border from where leisure bay started, their customer service is in lakeland florida, right next to leisure bays factory....now i am really confused! Also, rec warehouse is a separate business from leisure bay, most are privatley owned and they carry other lines of tubs including hot springs.
  6. any pool store will have a floating thermometer, you can also get ones that you can read from the house. the ones we carry are made by nu-temp, they also have an alarm on them. i have included a link. there are several different kinds http://www.nu-temp.com/600.htm
  7. This was emailed to me from another spa dealer. i found that it was informative to answereing some of those "itchies" that some people can't figure out, specially people who say they don't have an issue with chemicals bothering them in a pool, but do in a hot tub. hope this helps some people out! Have you ever settled into the spa for a dose of rest and relaxation only to find yourself completely uncomfortable in a matter of minutes? Have you ever gotten such a bad case of the itches while trying to enjoy your hot tub that you just gave up or turned the jets off out of frustration? Well, there is a very logical reason for it. The Healing Action of a Hot Tub It’s all about your body’s blood flow. The healing action of a hot tub does not come from hot water, nor does it come directly from the turbulence. It comes from your body’s natural ability to heal. We just amp it up by increasing the blood flow. The turbulence from the spa jets literally vacates the blood from the areas that are in direct contact with it, forcing “new blood” to enter these areas of the skin. During a 20 minute soak, this happens over and over again. Taking away the toxins and bringing in fresh supplies of clean blood. This is where our body’s natural ability to heal comes from. Aches and pains go away and the tight muscles begin to loosen. So, Why Do I Itch? Most people will assume that it is coming from the spa chemicals or that the water must be out of balance. Not so fast! The jet action from your spa literally pushes the blood away from the skin’s surface. If the jet action is too high (too much pressure), the blood never gets a chance to flow back in. Without blood to the skin, your skin will become itchy and very irritated. What Can I Do To Avoid Getting So Itchy? Today, most spa jet action can be adjusted a couple of ways. First, check to see if your pump has one or two speeds. The first speed will be slower and provide less pressure. Secondly, check the jet itself. In most cases turning the jet face counter clockwise can slow the water flow and provide you the relief you seek. If your jets provide a constant flow, try changing them out for jets that pulsate. They change out easily without any tools and doing so will give you proper blood flow and relief from the “itchies”. If these remedies do not suffice, try a little bit of “musical chairs”. Moving around to different seats with differing jet locations might be a lot of fun and keep your skin from being irritated. You just might be glad you did!
  8. Have not seen them up close and pesonal, they tried to get us as a dealer. They are made by hydro pool (not hydro spa)
  9. Interesting code, on the balboa systems we have used, the only code with a 9 is rt9, which means to test and reset the GFCI, anything with an F is a flo issue or filter. Learned something new today!
  10. I would call the gas company to be safe, or go local to a pool/spa store that knows what they are doing with gas heaters. better safe when it comes to gas IMO.
  11. What year is the tub? It is some type of flo error. Does it have a circ pump that may be randomly acting up, or possibly a pressure switch or flo switch
  12. In the winter I bring a gallon jug of water out with me because i know this is about what i am going to loss at each use. It saves me from dragging the hose out every few weeks to top off the tub. With swimsuits, i would lose even more water, and bring out 2 gallons at each use. My tub never needs to be topped off doing this, and no...I have no leaks.
  13. Talked with my hubby, he is our service tech, he said no jumpers to move unless you want it to heat while using the tub, otherwise it will only heat on low. There is a wire that has to be moved to convert from 110 to 220, thats it, its for the heater. all you are going to covert on this system is the heater up to 220v. the rest of the components are wired for the 110, and must stay that way(ie the pump) since thats what voltage component they are. This info is if the control system in it is a balboa value system, which it should be.
  14. Another trick we use here in the cold north east when we need to gas off in cold weather is to use a a few tennis balls under the edge of the cover. This allows the tub to gas off without losing as much heat to the cold winds blowing across the water with a wide open cover. Just turn on the jets and let it go for a cycle.
  15. We have seen a couple of tubs with vessel damage from freeze, but it took a very long time of being unattended to do it...but ditto to roger, you must get heat under the tub to prevent damage in the rest of the plumbing, or you might as well just junk the tub, also, have you contacted your insurance company? Many cover for damage such as this, we see it all the time, and many people get a new tub because of the extent of damage outweighs the value of the tub.
  16. Your best bet is to find out which control system it has in it (leisure Bay used to use Balboa), then go to the manufactuer of the control system to ask fot the sheets on where to place the dip switches and jumpers. If you give us the serial number to the control system, model number of it ect. we could also help you. We used to be a leisure Bay dealer. They had several names for the same model tub depending on who was selling them, so the actual control system info is the best
  17. Also, when looking at bills, dont forget the month you fill the spa and have to heat the water is going to be higher than the following months, even more so in the winter in cold months because the ground water is very cold going into the spa.
  18. Sounds like your pump but you need to check where the pump hooks into the control system and you board on the control system also, hopefully it did not smke a bunch of stuff.
  19. what are you using to test the ALK? I would make sure it is acurate before adding so much sodium bisulfate.
  20. more detail, is it staying on low or high speed, If its cold out, and the tub is calling for heat, the pump will stay running on low. be more describtive and what have you tried?
  21. -25 last night here in NH with a -45 wind chill, Enjoyed my time in the tub but did not dilly dally going back in the house after!
  22. I agree, you have to use a lot of MPS with Nature 2. I would also decontaminate the spa as said. You need a better testing system, customers are relying on you for correct info. You also need to follow the recipe exact and make this clear to your customers. Also with Nature 2, if the spa is used daily, they may need a dose of chlorine 2-3 times a week. The weekly dose is for light use (couple of people, weekend users) If they have guests with Nature 2, we always suggest a small dose of chlorine before and after, guests tend to "drag" in addtional germs ect. so I would rather be safe. One of my first questions to customers is how the spa will be used, a lot, by whom, kids/teens ect. and depending on those answeres I may steer them away from Nature 2 with an explanation to why.
  23. It depends on what circuit board is in it and how it was programmed. You would be better off to get an infared remote and hook that in.
  24. Oh my goodness, I have this everywhere. I even just bought property in Florida that is very close to vast amounts of it...what am I to do
