  1. Don't know what version you have, but the jets have been improved. They are covered by warranty for 5 years. You should contact your dealer. I have the Envoy which was purchased brand new in December, 2007. The dealer already gave me one replacement jet under warranty about a year ago when the first jet fell out. I guess I'll take this newest defect in for a replacement as well. Just kind of embarrassing when you have visitors in your "fantastic new tub" and things start falling apart while you're in it. Thanks for the info, and reminder on the length of warranty.
  2. I have a 1 yr old Hot Springs Envoy which I love. Only problem is the jets keep popping loose and ending up floating in the tub. In particular is the pulsating jets that rotate with small ballbearings in them. The ballbearings have fallen out twice on these jets, then the plastic insert of the jet comes out. It first happened shortly after I bought the tub. The dealer gave me a warranty replacement jet that I easily popped in place. Now a year later, it happened again. Other types of jets on the tub have also come loose. Any clues out there what could be wrong. Seems like it should be an easy fix... As a side note, I rarely if ever adjust the flow direction of the individual jets, so I don't think I could be doing anything wrong.
  3. I have only owned my tub for a month now, so I am a novice here. BUT... I purchased the same spa blanket you are looking at (I live in NW Illinois). Yes, that particular blanket is only 1/8" thick, and yes, it does bunch up a bit when the jets are on. However, whenever I'm running the jets (either for cleaning cycle or soaking) the cover and blanket are completely removed anyway, so bunching isn't really a problem for me. I purposely bought the 1/8" thick blanket as I figured it would be easier to remove and fold when not in use. I've seen pictures of a 1/4" thick blanket, and it appeared to require "rolling" it to store (too stiff to fold?). To remove the blanket, I simply pull it towards me then fold it back onto itself so it is in half still floating on the water. Then I fold that half left to right and drape it over the cover which is stored vertically in a "cover caddy". The only minor issue is it can collect scum which I wipe off before placing it back on the water. Since the tub and blanket are new, I can't say if it will add to the cover life, but I can say there is definitely a lot less water run off from the bottom of the cover when I first lift the cover. I had the tub for about 1 1/2 weeks before getting the blanket. Haven't noticed any difference in water clarity. Still looks great! Go for it.
  4. Thanks for the info Mark. The tub is 220v, all hooked up now (as of 12/6), and I've been using it every day! Love it!! Temps around mid 20's here, and yes, I use my long robe to get in and out. Tub is just a few steps from the sliding door to the kitchen, so no worries. Alan must be pushing springtime I guess. My original post was only 2 weeks ago, not 3 months. Thanks for the reply!
  5. A quick update. I called the dealer, the tub is completely sealed on the bottom and the "ice melt" will not harm it at all. None-the-less, I will still give the patio an extra sweeping when I get home. My sister and brother-in-law are ready with a new bottle of bubbly to celebrate tommorrow with me night! I'm so glad I stumbled on to this forum about a month ago. A lot of great unbiased information is shared here with very knowledgeable tubbers! Thanks to all! Keep up the Great job!!
  6. Thanks for the input. The tub is Hot Springs Envoy, and I do believe it is sealed on the bottom. I did sweep the patio before I left for work this morning. I'll give it another sweep when I get home at lunch before they place the tub... just to be sure. Yes, who knows what could happen when the "salt" is squished between the cement and the tub. I will also call the dealer and inquire. Thanks again!
  7. My new tub is getting delivered in about 4 hours!!! Woo hoo!! However, I live NW of Chicago, and we just got dumped on with snow. I shoveled the new cement patio (and the yard ) to prep for delivery. I also sprinkled Prestone Ice Melt stuff on the patio. A friend told me that will be bad for the tub (corrosion issues on pumps etc), and that I should hose it off prior to tub delivery. Comments on this? I'm leaving work at noon to await delivery, and need to know if I should hurry and hose down the patio first... That should be fun as temps are in the upper teens now.... Thanks in advance! Sandra
  8. Thanks for the info. I'm sure the cement contractor will have it under control. I didn't mention before that the electrician is coming out Wednesday morning to run the electric before the concrete is poured. So the day the tub is delivered, electric is there and ready to "plug in". The tub is brand new, so I'm guessing there shouldn't be any water in the lines when it's delivered... Since I'm completely new to all of this, I just wanted to be sure I'm doing everything correct!
  9. My new tub is scheduled for delivery next week. Cement will be poured this Wednesday. My concerns... Temps for Wednesday are mid-30's high to mid 20's low. Any problem with the freezing temps on the freshly poured concrete? Contractor says no. He also says allow 3-5 days for cement to cure prior to placing tub on it. Sound good? Then, next week for tub delivery, temps are dropping further. Upper teens high, single digit lows -- pretty much all next week. Are there any issues I should be aware of for setting up new tub in sub-freezing temps? The dealer is delivering and performing complete set-up. I'm so excited, but I wish the weather would have held out in the 40's another week or so... Thanks for any advice on this.
  10. I ended up ordering the "Cover Caddy". This way I can slide the cover into the caddy "arms" and leave it horizontal like that to use as a table of sorts, or I can put the caddy arms down so the cover sits along side the tub, only sticking up 9" (for my tub size). However, I can't vouch for how great it is as I don't even have my tub yet. Soon though! If I had opted for a lifter with that bar, I would have also purchased the "cover savers" (I think that's what they're called). They're little pegs (if you will) that have a strap that you attach to the bar, and the pegs rest on the edge of the cover. When in use, the cover rests on the pegs rather than hanging from the bar and stressing the cover hinge. Search the web, as it's difficult to explain.
  11. Good advice above...definitely go with a lifter...low profile...and get the Envoy!!! Thanks for everyone's input on the cover lifters. Sounds like I just need to determine which pro/cons win based on what I'm looking for. I think I'm leaning towards a shelf. That way if I only want to uncover half of the spa at one time, it doesn't have to be the same side (one half would expose the lounge, the other half the seats). Separately, I haven't a clue house this thread ended up in "chemistry". I don't even LIKE chemistry. It was my first post, and I must have been in the wrong "area" when submitting. Oh, I did end up with the Envoy! It should be here in about 2-3 weeks. Just enough time to get the cement and electrical work scheduled and completed! Woo hoo. I can't wait!

  13. Hi everyone! I'm new here. I've already made a decision on HotSpring -- just debating between Vanguard and Envoy. Aside from that, my question pertains to the cover lifters. Prior to spa searching, I didn't even know lifters existed. The lifter I tried at the dealer was very easy to use (move the cover). What I don't like about it is the cover stays attached to the tub and creates a vertical "wall" on one side. Plus, the particular lifter requires 24" clearance. I prefer not to have any views blocked. Do I really need a lifter? Will I be able to remove the cover by myself without one? 5'1 female. No super powers. Do the covers have "grab" handles to help hoist them back on to the tubs? I am going back to the dealer tonight and can ask them these questions, but I'd like to hear from the group here too. BTW - I really am comfortable with the dealer. They've not been pushy, have been in business 20+ years, and have a good reputation. Hope to select and have the tub in the next couple weeks! My aching body can't wait! Thanks for any input!
