  1. Most definately.. I have to work Christmas night but I'll definately hit the tub before gettinr ready for work. A half hour in the tub seems to make 12 hours in the ambulance seem a little more comfortable. Merry Christmas everyone!!
  2. Fdegree, Two winters ago we had a really bad ice storm and lost power for 4 days. I never touched the tub (DON"T lift the cover!) and just prayed. The temps were down in the teens after the storm and stayed there. We ended up in a motel. When the power came back on and we returned home, I checked the tub and the temp had dropped to 54 degrees. No problems. This is just my personal experience and I thought I'd share it with you.
  3. Tinybubbles, illifan is correct. Spontaneous hypotension is very real and happens quite often. Have you ever became dizzy when you stood up too fast? As far as a rebound effect, it's not going to happen. Blood pressure spiking high requires a large Dopamine dump (A chemical produced by your body to help regulate B/P and also used in the medical field to increase B/P in patients who have critically low B/P) which only *normally* occurs with something like an adrenaline rush, trauma to your body, etc.. As far as getting out of the tub and your B/P rising higher than normal, it just won't happen. It's much more difficult for your body to raise the B/P than it is to drop it. I hope this helps. 4. Dr Spa, It wasn't an attack of any sort. I apologize if it sounded that way. I was just reading the posts (not even looking at the time frames) and saw that he/she would not answer any questions at all directly. Very vague. Again, my apologies... I have no intention to "attack" anyone on this board... Just try to help folks like I was helped on here
  5. Brock, I hear you, bud!! Here's a thought for support groups. Start a thread here similar to this one looking for folks having the same issues with their hot tubs "controlling" their lives that live in close proximity to you. Set meeting dates (preferably evening) to discuss everyone's "issues" Rotate residence locations for meetings and meet in 100-104 degree water to help each other with support for the addiction. The newness might wear off, but I have to say it didn't for us. Up until our tub issues, I believe I could have counted on two hands the number of days that we didn't use our tub in 3 years. Enjoy it!!! Spa $5000-$10,000 Chemicals $30-$50 Time spent in 104 degree water with jets massaging you body while snow gently falls on your head and daily stress slowly dissapates..... PRICELESS
  6. Chanster, I have the Vita Cabaret that had all the issues. As far as the tub itself went, we loved it right up until everything went to hades. The company was a real bear to try to deal with but after six months of ____ we finally got it resolved. I have had my new replacement tub for 1 week now and love it once again. If you buy Vita, pray that you don't have major warranty issues. Do I like their tub?? Yes. Would I buy it again after what I went through? No.. Just my opinion. Good luck with whatever you choose. And most of all... Wet test, wet test, wet test!!!!
  7. I find it strange that ChillyBilly doesn't want to give up any more info than that he is in the midwest.. If it was me, I'd let the world know everything I could about him. Come on CB, give us something to work with so we can help you and everyone else this guy has apparently screwed over..
  8. Ivieisme, Are your test strips telling you everything is OK? My water tends to look bright blue in the sun when my water is balanced correctly... A LOT better than green and stinky!!!! hehehe!!
  9. Here's the scenerio here. It was 18 degrees last night with a wind chill of 3. Spent about 45 minutes in the tub, walked VERY fast butt neked to the back door through 4 inches of new snow, grabbed a hot towel out of the dryer just inside the back door and toweled off. Sometimes...OK, all the time..It pays to live in the sticks with no close neighbors!!
  10. Congratulations!! Our 2 y/o Granddaughter wants to come over to the house to go "simmin" all the time. She was actually mad when the hot tub broke and she couldn't get in it. She's very excied that it is fixed now, and is coming over today. Funny thing is, her other grandparents have a hot tub, too, and she won't have anything to do with that one. Strange.. Glad you love it! Soak long and prosper!
  11. It's actually a split decision here. I am definately a jetter and LOVE to have my back beat on. My wife on the other hand, loves to just sit and soak with just the occasional jets. It really doesn't matter. The hot water with the cold outdoors on a starry night is the schiznit!!! Jets or not!!
  12. Well, we had the first soak in the tub last night.. Perfectly clear skies and 15 degrees out. Man...I missed that!! It was great!! 45 minutes later we came out looking like prunes!! Today we have 4 inches of snow to with it. It looks like we managed to get it in just in time.
  13. Sure, but the FM reception still stinks!! It couldn't be the fact that I'm in BFE!! Would have been nice if they would have continued the access panel instead of having to take the whole side of the tub off, too... Thanks for the kind words, Bo.. It's been one he11 of a fight. Hopefully, this one will last. I'm just glad it's over. Good luck with your pump issues.. I feel your pain, Bro!!
  14. Sure did, but there was a pillow design change so the pillows won't work... but the filters will!! Thanks again, Powernoodle!! You've been a great help!! I don't know why the pic's don't come up automatically.. It worked last time I posted some!
  15. Eric, I'm no pro by any means, but you definately want to be careful how many chemicals you add. You should only need to shock after heavy use or about once a week as general maintenance. I have found that using one brand of chemicals and using a good quality brand (I use Leisure Time) makes the process easier. Just follow the instructions and test your water with test strips religiously and you'll get te hang of it in no time. I take it you don't have an instruction manual for your spa? That should give you all the info you need for proper water maintenance, also. Good luck
  16. Well all, after all the headaches, the warranty replacement for my Vita Cabaret is here, in, and running!! Here are some pic's... The old tub leaving.. http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb316/m...9/Newtub004.jpg The new one swinging on in... http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb316/m...9/Newtub005.jpg The new one pre fill... http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb316/m...9/Newtub006.jpg The new one post fill late last night... http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb316/m...9/Newtub007.jpg It seems that it is warming up pretty slow since it has been running all night (88 degrees right now) but then again, it's only 20 degrees here right now with a wind chill of 3 degrees. Hopefully, it will be hot enough for my wife and I to hit it tonight!! It's been a LOOONG wait!!! Many thanks once again to all that helped us through this dillema and also a big thank you to Mark One Pool and Spa in Hemlock, MI for all the help they gave us even though we didn't buy the spa through them. A TRUELY good dealer!! Bill and Denise Brock
  17. Tiny Bubbles, We initially purchased our spa for theraputic reasons for me. I had trashed out my knee on the job and then subsequently shattered my femur secondary to the knee injury. The spa helped immensely. Being a full time Paramedic, I too suffer from chronic back pain since proper lifting techniques sometimes have to go out the window. The spa had become a staple in my life and I truely notice the difference without it over the past six months. Obviously, it wasn't an overnight relief, but after a few months of daily "therapy", it truely made a difference. Now that I have been without it the last six months, I eat more ibuprofen than ever. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel as my replacement is being delivered tomorrow!! Tell your husband not to give up hope. It will make a difference. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but give it six months of daily or even twice a day, and he will notice improvement. Best of luck to you, Bill
  18. Well....We're getting closer!! I just got off the phone with the dealer and the new spa is being delivered Wednesday!!! I am going to be SOOOO HAPPY when this ordeal is over and we can soak again. It's been six months since we've been able to use our tub and it's greatly missed. Hopefully, I'll have pic's real soon!! Thanks again to all that helped us through this dillema.. Bill Brock
  19. Tsand, Nice looking tub. Same color combo as my Cabaret. As far as your electric bill goes, I think you'll be plesantly suprised. I think mine went up an avarage of $15-20 a month in the winter and I am in Michigan. If you have not read it yet, Vita finally chose to rectify my situation and dropped the $3500.00 charge. I'll totally believe it when I'm filling the new tub but I'm cautiously optomistic. When we wet tested, the Rendezvous is the tub we tested. Loved it but just couldn't swing the additional $2500.00. Good luck with the spa. As long as you have good dealer support, I think you'll be OK. I set up the delivery of the new tub Monday. I'll keep you posted and I'll post pic's.. Congratulations, again!! Looks great!! BTW.. Did you get the move completed?
  20. I think that Medic would disagree? Lets ask him/her. Tsand, The dealer that I initially bought the tub from was bad. Lots of false promises when the tub was sold to me regarding if there were any problems, he would be right there. Turned out he wouldn't return phone calls, get any repairs done in a timely manner, and was pretty snotty when I was able to get him on the phone or when I would go into the dealership. This is probably why he went under. I was told by the dealer that I am working with now that he had been cut off by Vita for over a year.. The dealer that I am working with now was initially reluctant to go to bat for me. Understandable since I had never done business with them and they were thrown into this by the corporation out of the blue. Since then, he has learned the whole story and went to bat for me 100%. I have no hesitation to recommend this dealer at this point and will give him my business even though he is quite some distance from me. I owe him at least that much for all he has done for me. Good luck with your drain and the blisters.. I feel your pain. If there's anything I can do to help you (or anyone else on here) out, please let me know. Everyone here was a Godsend to myself and my wife and we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!! Bill Brock
  21. Well, folks... As of right now I'm doing the happy dance.. I spoke with the dealer that has the replacement tub this afternoon and he stated that Vita decided to waive the $3500 price tag. At this point I am cautiously optomistic that this has been resolved and I'll be scheduling my delivery the first of next week. I'll breathe a BIG sigh of relief when I'm filling the tub. It seems that between the dealer going to bat for me, the complaint to the BBB, the letter from the attorney, and especially all the help from the certain folks here, that Vita opened their eyes... THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!! TSG... My original spa does have the stereo, led's, etc.. it's loaded too. They also never told me that. But thanks again to you and certain others that have helped me with all that you did. I'll keep everyone informed on the delivery and post pic's of the NEW tub once it's in.. Thanks again, everyone!!!!!!!!!! Bill Brock
  22. The only thing you should hear is when the tub goes through it's cleaning cycle and tests. Back in the day when mine worked, I had it cycle twice every 24 hrs. It would run about 3 minutes each time. But you won't hear the circ pump (until it starts to go out, then it has a very loud hum)
  23. Wow...That's nice to know. I wonder if they charged everyone else $3500 to pad their warranty issues. I will say that for the first 2 1/2 yrs, I liked my spa very much. It was used every day for theraputic issues and it helped immensely. Then everything went south and I wouldn't have so much of an issue if the company wasn't trying to charge me $3500.00 for a replacement tub. It's not my fault they used bad acrylic, and I certainly don't feel that I should have to cover the cost of building a new tub with the charge being hidden under the description of "Circuitry upgrades". Pretty bad customer service if you ask me. Good luck with whatever tub you choose. I don't believe I would buy another Vita just due to the way I have been treated by the CORPORATION (not a dealership!!) over my issues with their faulty product.
  24. I thought I'd try to add some pic's of a few of the blisters. They are a little difficult to see but are definately there. There's over 50 total. I hope this works.
  25. You may want to read my post below about Vita, their warranty, and the problems I am currently having with them. Good luck. I feel your pain.
