  1. Most definately.. I have to work Christmas night but I'll definately hit the tub before gettinr ready for work. A half hour in the tub seems to make 12 hours in the ambulance seem a little more comfortable. Merry Christmas everyone!!
  2. Fdegree, Two winters ago we had a really bad ice storm and lost power for 4 days. I never touched the tub (DON"T lift the cover!) and just prayed. The temps were down in the teens after the storm and stayed there. We ended up in a motel. When the power came back on and we returned home, I checked the tub and the temp had dropped to 54 degrees. No problems. This is just my personal experience and I thought I'd share it with you.
  3. Tinybubbles, illifan is correct. Spontaneous hypotension is very real and happens quite often. Have you ever became dizzy when you stood up too fast? As far as a rebound effect, it's not going to happen. Blood pressure spiking high requires a large Dopamine dump (A chemical produced by your body to help regulate B/P and also used in the medical field to increase B/P in patients who have critically low B/P) which only *normally* occurs with something like an adrenaline rush, trauma to your body, etc.. As far as getting out of the tub and your B/P rising higher than normal, it just won't happen. It's much more difficult for your body to raise the B/P than it is to drop it. I hope this helps. 4. Dr Spa, It wasn't an attack of any sort. I apologize if it sounded that way. I was just reading the posts (not even looking at the time frames) and saw that he/she would not answer any questions at all directly. Very vague. Again, my apologies... I have no intention to "attack" anyone on this board... Just try to help folks like I was helped on here
  5. Brock, I hear you, bud!! Here's a thought for support groups. Start a thread here similar to this one looking for folks having the same issues with their hot tubs "controlling" their lives that live in close proximity to you. Set meeting dates (preferably evening) to discuss everyone's "issues" Rotate residence locations for meetings and meet in 100-104 degree water to help each other with support for the addiction. The newness might wear off, but I have to say it didn't for us. Up until our tub issues, I believe I could have counted on two hands the number of days that we didn't use our tub in 3 years. Enjoy it!!! Spa $5000-$10,000 Chemicals $30-$50 Time spent in 104 degree water with jets massaging you body while snow gently falls on your head and daily stress slowly dissapates..... PRICELESS
  6. Chanster, I have the Vita Cabaret that had all the issues. As far as the tub itself went, we loved it right up until everything went to hades. The company was a real bear to try to deal with but after six months of ____ we finally got it resolved. I have had my new replacement tub for 1 week now and love it once again. If you buy Vita, pray that you don't have major warranty issues. Do I like their tub?? Yes. Would I buy it again after what I went through? No.. Just my opinion. Good luck with whatever you choose. And most of all... Wet test, wet test, wet test!!!!
  7. I find it strange that ChillyBilly doesn't want to give up any more info than that he is in the midwest.. If it was me, I'd let the world know everything I could about him. Come on CB, give us something to work with so we can help you and everyone else this guy has apparently screwed over..
  8. Ivieisme, Are your test strips telling you everything is OK? My water tends to look bright blue in the sun when my water is balanced correctly... A LOT better than green and stinky!!!! hehehe!!
  9. Here's the scenerio here. It was 18 degrees last night with a wind chill of 3. Spent about 45 minutes in the tub, walked VERY fast butt neked to the back door through 4 inches of new snow, grabbed a hot towel out of the dryer just inside the back door and toweled off. Sometimes...OK, all the time..It pays to live in the sticks with no close neighbors!!
  10. Congratulations!! Our 2 y/o Granddaughter wants to come over to the house to go "simmin" all the time. She was actually mad when the hot tub broke and she couldn't get in it. She's very excied that it is fixed now, and is coming over today. Funny thing is, her other grandparents have a hot tub, too, and she won't have anything to do with that one. Strange.. Glad you love it! Soak long and prosper!
  11. It's actually a split decision here. I am definately a jetter and LOVE to have my back beat on. My wife on the other hand, loves to just sit and soak with just the occasional jets. It really doesn't matter. The hot water with the cold outdoors on a starry night is the schiznit!!! Jets or not!!
  12. Well, we had the first soak in the tub last night.. Perfectly clear skies and 15 degrees out. Man...I missed that!! It was great!! 45 minutes later we came out looking like prunes!! Today we have 4 inches of snow to with it. It looks like we managed to get it in just in time.
  13. Sure, but the FM reception still stinks!! It couldn't be the fact that I'm in BFE!! Would have been nice if they would have continued the access panel instead of having to take the whole side of the tub off, too... Thanks for the kind words, Bo.. It's been one he11 of a fight. Hopefully, this one will last. I'm just glad it's over. Good luck with your pump issues.. I feel your pain, Bro!!
  14. Sure did, but there was a pillow design change so the pillows won't work... but the filters will!! Thanks again, Powernoodle!! You've been a great help!! I don't know why the pic's don't come up automatically.. It worked last time I posted some!
  15. Eric, I'm no pro by any means, but you definately want to be careful how many chemicals you add. You should only need to shock after heavy use or about once a week as general maintenance. I have found that using one brand of chemicals and using a good quality brand (I use Leisure Time) makes the process easier. Just follow the instructions and test your water with test strips religiously and you'll get te hang of it in no time. I take it you don't have an instruction manual for your spa? That should give you all the info you need for proper water maintenance, also. Good luck
