  1. Just ran accross this, so how's it going with this system?? Still using it? What are the + or -, Thanks!
  2. I would build a frame, 1 on each corner and 1 in the middle. This way it would have support all the way around. To get it on, you could slide it against a wall then lit up one end of the tub and slide it on. You want to make sure you have the way distributed evenly all around. If you are still under warranty I would not tell them you are doing this.
  3. Board arrived to Hot Springs dealer today. Good thing is wasn't cold out. Temp went from 94 sunday to 73 today. I got the new board in this afternoon and I'm up to 94, can't wait for a soak tonight! This was a very easy fix, although I wish there was a closer Caldera dealer if I have another problem. But at least this local HS dealer said he'd help me out if I have another problem.
  4. I do thid too but use a couple sections of sump pump hose, drains my Moorea in 15min
  5. Currently have the same problem with my Caldera Moorea (another Watkins product). It also has the IQ2020 box and my heater board is fried too. Mine is on it's way under warranty. From what I've read this is a common problem. I google searched the board and it's an easy fix and can be had for $100 give or take (ranges $100-$199). The board has changed so make sure you get the newer one, remember if your tub is not 220, and is 110 you have to set the jumpers see http://www.backyardplus.com/proddetail.php?prod=74618 Hot Springs=tiger river= caldera all Watkins. From what I was told just the boaard needs to be changed. Oh yeah here's a link to my fried board in the same place as your's??? http://www.whatsthebest-hottub.com/forum/i...ic,12456.0.html

  7. Pulled the control cover it's a burnt heater board. Called Watkins again and got a nice tech to have a local HS dealer to take care of me (but will probably swap the board out myself). I guess this is a very common problem, this board has also been upgraded/changed already.
  8. I have a Caldera Moorea that stopped heating. Nothing blinks on the control panel, circ pump is working, filter is clean, but the tub is not heating. I tried powering off the unit a couple of times and this did not do anything. Tub read that it is 91 it I turn the temp under 91 I hear the click of a relay or something. My problem is my long time dealer went out of bussiness a couple of months ago and the nearest dealer is 2 hours away! Called Caldera and the women I got was of no help saying that I did every thing and probably needed a service call and the call that dealer, called them and got voice mail for service so now waiting for a call back. UUuuuugh so much for buying a top company product from a long term dealer!!
  9. Here's one on Fleabay for $75 for buy it now. (it's not mine just passing it along) Lifter
  10. I'm curious as to why most folks wouldn't get a lounger again. I'm getting ready to buy, and did my wet tests yesterday. I LOVED the lounger in the Caldera Kauai - the foot jets are what sold me. Do you find that lounging gets old? Is it more comfortable/relaxing for longer periods of time to be sitting in one of the seats instead? Thanks! I never really find lounging getting "old" per say. It is very relaxing and a couple of times I almost fell asleep in it!! I usually move around the tub in my routine and the lounger is last before I turn it down low and enjoy the stars and the last of my beverage. It's very hard to enjoy a drink in the lounge seat!
  11. I've had a Caldera Moorea for 3 months or so and love it! My wife wanted the lounger and I really didn't. Salesman told us how second time buyers that had the lounge didn't get it the second time around. I'll tell ya though I really like it once in a while! I don't use it all the time but in a while it's great! As the Moorea has various seating I don't see the space lost with a lounger a big deal. I was comfortable with the price of $7300 for everything (cover lifter, chemicals, delivery, steps, tax), the dealer was a big help and not pushy and they have a very good rep.
  12. I have my Caldera Moorea for just over 2 months now. The 1st month and a half my water was great, no problems being a spa newbie. I use Diclor about 1 and a 1/2 tsp and toss in 1 tbs of mps after each use. The spa is used probably 5 times a week. I do shock with mps once a week and add clarifier and oil eater once a week. 2 weeks ago i noticed my ta was high (135) and my ph was alittle low (6.8) so I added some spa down and got it to around 90. then I added ph up as my ph was still 6.8. THis resulted in my ta raising to 125 and ph 7.2 so I leave it there. the next couple of days I'm back at ta 130 and ph 6.8. I do the previous procedure and get in check, Use the tub friday (great as it's in the 20s here, Central NY). I forgot to add dichlor sat night went to do a soak and the water is cloudy ta is sky high as is ph, so needless to say I'm dumping the water as I type. I was going to dump it at the end of this week so hopefully it would last until at least the end of march. Any ideas why my TA went crazy after 2 months?? I'm hoping to learn from this to get this new fill through the winter. I did shock it with Diclor last night and added clarifier but it was still cloudy so I dumped it today hoping I can get a soak tonight!!
  13. I got one a couple pf weeks ago and so far so good. I get the same readings I think from the visual strips and if I do a couple of readings in arow they are very close.
  14. I've had my Moorea for 2+ months now and we love it!!
  15. Did this happen often with yours? Or when it was run for an extended amout of time? It only happens to the one pump which is the hi/lo pump. The dealer is puzzled as he's sold many HS and Caldreras and never had one with a bad pump out of the box. Also did yours work ok after being off for awhile? Mine will start again after a couple of hours. At this point the dealer doesn't seem to want to do anything unless it happens more frequent or dies. But he tells me not to woory they will stand behind it.
  16. I have a 2 month old Caldera Moorea tub. 3 different times jet pump 2 has shut down after 1-2 hrs of running. When this happens it will not come back on and just hums. I believe it's the thermal cut off as after it cools down after a hour or so it will work ok. It's happened these times when the kids will be in for a little while, then the adults go in (thus the extened run time). The dealer came right out after the second time and ran it full blast for a hour and it was ok. All the diagnostics were ok and he said during his run time jet 1 was actually running hotter than 2. There were no voltage drops, every thing was fine. He told me not to worry if it keeps doing it or if it finally gos it'll be covered. Any body have any ideas?? I did email Caldera but they never replied, maybe they knew the dealer came out? It happened tonight and cut my soak time (finally in the low 30's :'(), kids were in it before me as my daughter had some friends over. Just hate to have it go in the middle of winter.
  17. I don't like the color strips (using Aquachek) and was looking at this, the Aquachek Trutest digital. Does anyone here have any advice on this?? The strips just don't show the correct colors for me and I'm looking for an easier way to check my water. I've been lurking here for awhile and took delivery of my Caldera Moorea a month ago and love it! No problems so far with my water using diclor and these strips just looking for a easier way to read the strips. Don't really want to go the drop method. Thanks!!
