  1. OUCH! Glad mine was a minor increase It's not quite as cold here in NJ as New England, but still pretty cold with freezing temps and snow in the winter. I am shocked to hear that their electric bills had a 80-$100 increase...
  2. I have a Gulf Coast Spa that I purchased about 6 years ago. Over the years that I've had it, I've needed to do some minor servicing but nothing major - and all things that I could do myself (as a single woman). I've called the help desk for information many times and found most of the staff were not that knowledgable, but there were a few that were, and were able to assist in providing me with good instructions to complete the task at hand. I live in central New Jersey and use the spa all year round. Keeping the temp at at 97 in the summer and 101 in the winter, my electric bill is only about $15-$20 per month higher than it was before I installed the tub. For the money I spent and the enjoyment I've received, I'd say it was a good buy. There was no reason I needed to spend any more $$$$ on a "premium" spa. I didn't need the bells and whistles, just the basics. I know most people on this forum believe Gulf Coast to be garbage, but I've been happy with mine. Good luck on your decision!
  3. Thanks for your response. I understand prevention is the best way. As I explained I had a bit of trouble with balancing the water last winter which created this issue. I always use Metal-X upon fresh fill and and also use it weekly as maintenance, but it hasn't helped with the current deposit. My question is since I already have scale deposits at the water line what can I use to remove it? Just putting Spa Defender in weekly will remove what's already there? Thanks in advance, Sharon
  4. Hi all, I posted this in the general forum and didn't receive any replies...so I thought I'd try it here. I need help with removing a scale deposit at the water line of my spa. Last winter I let the balance of my water get away from me for too many reasons to list, including a failed cover that was growing all sorts things on it. Anyway, I couldn't keep the TA and Ph balanced and overloaded the spa with baking soda causing extremely high Ph and TA. Needless to say it caused a scale formation around the water line of the spa (not too mention ruining the heater element). The ring of scale is pretty unsightly and last time I drained the tub I tried using Lime Away, but it didn't touch most of the scale. Any suggestions as to what I can use to remove this? I am planning on draining and refilling sometime in the next month and would really like to clean it up. BTW it is a textured fiberglass shell. Thanks in advance

  6. I have a 13000 gallon pool and run my pump about 8 hours. My water is crystal clear. I could probably run it less, but honestly my electric bill only went up by about $20 a month. My pump is 1 hp.
