  1. Whats the big deal? Its not like others are going to introduce stuff you arent already unless they have some fungus or weird skin thing. But seriously your wife doesnt want your kids in it? That is pretty messed up.
  2. Yup he is right, I bought a smaller one, but Hot Spot (Hot Spring) has a Mallorcao with similar specs for $4700 delivered with steps, chems, cover lifter, etc.
  3. Master Spa is built in my home town in Northern Indiana. They have a factory showroom and had all three different levels of spas. The guys I talked to were very honest and told me that the Legacy series was based on old technology and was not as well insualted as the other series. It was very inexpensive (like 5000 for the one I was looking at). He told me that he would recommend if you are DIY guy to put in more insulation, but if you do so before the 1 year warranty it could affect that.
  4. I have a question, a little over a month ago I bought a Hot Spot Sorrento spa. Its a 250 gallon spa so its fairly small. My question is what is typical water useage from evaporation, steam, spillage, water on bathing suits, etc. In the month I have had it the water level went down right at a 1/4 - 1/2 inch. I see no water anywere around the tub and I use the tub at least once a day and usually twice for about 20 - 25 minutes at a time. I also have the cover open every morning for like 5 - 10 to check chems.
  5. Does that make them 42 combined? If so that is legal.
  6. I know its not as large or have as many jets as some of the Costco spas but I would recommend the Hot Spot line from Hot Springs. I got the Sorrento and it was just over $4K with everything except power hookup. The Mallorca is a 6 person and about $750 more expensive. Both are full foam, are made by a good manufacturer, and imo are a good value. I just posted a new thread with pics if your interested check it out.
  7. For anyone looking for a entry level name brand spa I would highly recommend this one. I paid $4200 delivered with steup, chems, cover, steps, spa pads, and sales tax. I have been very happy thus far. It certianly is no high end tub since it only has 18 or 19 jets depending on if you count the one in the floor, but its more than adequate for what I am looking for. I hooked it up 220 and it was 102 in about 5 hours. It has been easy to get the chems right and I have used it at least once a day thus far. It may not have all the jets or be as big of some of the others but it was an attracive price and made by Watkins. The Caldera Cumberland is identical to the Hot Spot Sorrento. Sorry the pics suck, its hard to take pics from inside the gazebo thing since there is not much room to get a good shot.
  8. What is the difference between the Hotspot Sorrento and Caldera Cumberland. They look identical down to jets, cabinet, shell, etc. There is a Caldera dealer a couple hours away I went to and the Cumberaland was $1500 more and it looked identical.
  9. That is the one I bought, it will be here Thursday. I paid $4100 for everything including, setup, delivery, cover lifter, chemicals, and sales tax. Cant give you any monthly cost info but from what I have read and been told its seems to be insualted well and is backed by a well known spa manufacturer.
  10. Looks nice and is cheap but who knows about how much it would cost to operate or how reliable it will be. One thing you need to consider is that even a 110V tub needs to be on a circuit that isnt going to be used for anything else. In my case the outlet in the back patio was on the same circuit as my garage outlets so I was SOL. So keep some $$ back for wiring issues you may encounter or else deal with the breaker tripping if it gets overloaded.
  11. Anyone? I have searched and havent found much info.
  12. Does anyone have any information on the quality of insulation of the hotspot line? I know its made by watkins, but there has to be a reason its less than a comparable sized hot spring, tiger river, and even Solana RX. Approximatly what would be the difference to heat it versus say a Jetsetter or tiger river sumatran? Thank you, Jason
  13. You can trade in for any brand they carry. They carry any coleman brand and Shoreline. So they do have some good higher quality tubs. I dont think you have to have any reason to trade it back in, just bring it back to the store and then go for it. BUt my biggest question is, how is the insualtion on the hotspot brand. I like the looks of them, they are 110/220 convertable, are made by a good builder in Watkins, but there has to be a reason they are less than tiger river and hot springs. But it does seem to be a much better tub for $1000 extra over the Dreammaker and it does come with delivery, steps, and lifter which the dreammaker doesnt.
  14. You've obviously done a lot of research. However, sitting in a dry tub is VERY different than sitting in a wet tub. The jets will all feel different too. I strongly recommend actually wet testing the models you're interested in. One note about your Dream Maker trade in offer - it sounds like you don't get your money back within 12 months - just a trade in for a different model, correct? So, if your problem with the tub after a few months is that you just don't use it, then trading it in for a different model will not help you any. What WILL make a difference is whether you really like the spa or not - and the only way to find that out is to try one out. Yes we are doing a few wet tests this weekend including the hotspot and dreammaker. And yes the dream maker deal is within 12 months you can trade it in for any tub the dealer has and get the full price paid as the trade. Its certainly no Costco return policy but the dreammaker only weights 250 lbs so it would be much easier than returning a tub 3 times that size to Costco. But my major question is with the hotspot sorrento and mallorca, how well are they insulated? I know the are a affiliated with Hot Springs through Watkins, but Daewoo is also affiliated with Chevy and makes the Aveo but I wouldnt touch that with a 10 ft poll. If the hotspot is not very well insulated it may be better to spend a bit more now and save $20 a month over the next 5-10 years.
  15. Well I have been to many dealer and have several different brands in mind. My general price range is around $4,000. At this point I like the idea of a 110 convertable to 220 because we are planning on moving in a few years and see no need to spend the $$ to run the 220 unless I have to but I am still able to switch if I decide I need to. I live in Fort Wayne, IN where master spa is located and I have read some of the stories on here, but honestly the people where very friendly to me and upfront about some of the differences between models. I also looked at brands such as hot spring, nordic, sundance, etc and most where just out of my price range. I am not particularly fond of the round tubs, but would consider one it the price was right. The temp around here gets to low 20s on occasion and sometimes lower but not often. Mostly its around 30s in the winter. I am certainly concerned about if some are insulated better than others. For the most part it will be 2 people but it would be nice to accomodate 4 but its not mandatory. We are wet testing the Solana TX, Hotspot, and Dreammaker X-500 Saturday. The California Cooperage are both closeout models at a local dealer who will still carry Coleman brand but not Cal Cooperage. I think they are a pretty good price for what they are but would like some feedback from the experts to be sure. I think at this point I am leaning Dream Maker because the dealer offers a deal where if within 12 months you can trade in the tub for what you paid for it towards the purchase of a different one. The reason is this is our first tub and I really am not sure how much we will use it and dont want to spend $5,000 if we arent going to use it as much as I think we are. If I skip the dreammaker I think the hotspot sorrento seem to be the best bang for the buck. But there may be a reason for that. I have sat in all the spas on the list and I really like them all thus far.
