  1. Thanks for the suggestions! I cleaned out the filter which had a lot more small plant material on it than I realized. I also cracked open the manual (thanks to CanadianSpaTech) and realized that some jets weren't working due to the diverter knobs being broken so ordered a couple new ones and, like magic, they all work again! Also programed the filter for a 20 hour cycle (as opposed to the standard 24 hour) so I can can be in the tub 8pm-midnight without the circulation pump on. A small victory but it makes me happy. All this has led to the water staying between 103-102 which I can live with. This summer when the tub is drained I will, if I'm feeling adventurous, test the heater element. Installing a new one looks straight forward enough. Is it surprising that a heater has lasted 15 years? Anyway, thanks for the ideas & hope spring has appeared where you live!

  5. Thanks for the reply. No I don't have a multimeter unfortunately. I could get one but I think the task at hand is crossing into a realm beyond my skillset and more suited to an experienced hand (I suspect its either the pump motor or voltage causing the problem). I'll bite the bullet and pay for an experienced service engineer to come over and work on it - it'll make me feel a lot more comfortable as I'm sitting in the bucket of water knowing that a pro evaluated the potential electricity issues! Thanks for the help, it's really appreciated! Once they've been in I'll loop back to update this thread with the final conclusion in case it helps anyone with a similar issue in future.

  6. Stock photo on the website and Nigerian IP addresses (perhaps a VPN). Website had a lot of grammatical errors which make me think English is not the native language and seems to confuse spas (as in a commercial establishment offering health and beauty treatment) with spas (as in a hot tubs). Website domain registratoin is only about 1 month old and there is nothing posted in the pool section of the site. There is a lot of misinformation, some of it dangerous such as putting trichlor tablets in the skimmer basket which is a great way to ruin cartridge filter endcaps and pump seals. I love the write-up about converting from chlorine to bromine and the advice to drain first because of dangerous chemical reactions between chlorine and bromine. WTF? All taken care of.

  11. Another one!?! It's a Canadian population explosion! You guys need to have a g2g (get together) at Kurt's place and drink a few. (They have beer up there, right? And not just in popsicles?) (Probably maple flavored.) (That would go good with chicken and waffles! Do they have waffles in Canada? Probably hard to mix the batter with frozen ingredients. And I don't think chickens can live in the arctic. Maybe goose eggs are freeze proof? 🤔) Sorry, just thinking out loud...😉
