I live in NW Pennsylvania and have closed my pool for the winter. The problem that I am having is that my 2 year old winter cover has let an enormous amount of rain water seep back into the pool during this very damp winter. The pool is now overfull to the point that the ice is abount 1/2 away from the under the top rails (ice is only about 1 inch thick at this time. I have an aquadoor over the skimmer opening and the return line plugged for the winter. My question is: Should I worry about this problem or not? I am afraid that as the pool continues to freeze, it will tear the top rails off of the pool. Would this be correct or not? If I attempt to drain the pool under the ice, this would possibly create a air pocket that could damage the liner as the ice block drops.
Any ideas or comments would be appreciated.
Thank you.
