Greetings folks,
Me and the Mrs recently decided to redesign our back yard and after several months of having me annoying her, she has finally capitulated and has agreed to let me install a swim spa.
We live in a townhouse in Washington DC and have a relatively small yard to work with ... 20x35 feet. Furthermore the house came equipped with a serious generator and two 250 gallon propane tanks. Long story short, due to building code requirements/easements we are unable to have anything in ground (such as SwimEx) which would have been our first choice.
What we are really after is a 14 to 18 foot swim spa, preferably propeller driven, which we can sink half way into the ground. Basically dig a 2.5 foot hole, pour concrete, and lay the swim spa in so that it only sticks 2-3 feet above ground and landscape around it. The reason is simple, with such a small yard, we really don't want to be staring at a massive plastic bathtub, which to be honest even the most expensive swim spas look like.
So perhaps I can tap into the experience and expertise of the members of this forum for some options and advice. My main concern of course is access to the mechanical components of the unit if it buried half way into the ground ... is there's a unit out there that is designed in this way and for this purpose?
I appreciate any feedback and am happy to be a part of this informative forum.
Cheers!
