  1. Well guys and gals im part of the spa owners group now and to say i am excited is to say the least. As you guys recommended i had the guy fill up the spa and run everything so i could look at it and all went well even the price was talked down to 5750. for a 2 yr old maxxus spa fully loaded. The former owner was glad to sell it to someone who always wanted one. Even the guys i paid for the dilivery said the thing looked new, something to do with the jets, and when they heard what i got it for they said i got a great deal. I will post some pictures of it real soon to see what you think. One of the sides had where a sprinklers (rusty color) hit it but it seems to come off with 409 but i wanted to check with you guys to make sure that its the best thing to use. Also whats the best thing to clean up the little mold around the pillows and jets, its not bad mold becuse it cleans off pretty easy, but i dont want to ruin any of the luster the shell has now. Can't seem to get this smile off my face.
  2. Thanks, NewB the info you provided was great. I needed to get started in learning what im in for and you set me off on the right path. I am thankful for the info all have provided and i am taking everything into account. I see buying a used tub can get ugly if i am not careful so i will make sure to cover my bases. I still remember growing up having to clean the pool and put 3 drops of this and 5 drops of that in a yellow and red tester and then show it to my dad who would take it from there, Boy did i hate having to come home from school and have to clean the pool and now look at me .
  3. After reading all the post again JerimiahR made a good point about possible biofilm/mold growth in the plumbing. If the owner agrees to let me set it up and get it running prior to full payment is there a way to clean out any of this incase it did develope it.
  4. I will check into that kingdog thanks.
  5. Wow! and i was feeling so good prior to this, but thanks for your honesty guys. I did see a maxxus spa at a showroom down here in florida and the price tag was close to 14,000. with all the goodies, so i was using that as a starting point, give or take a thousand. I also took into account that the likely hood that a 2 year old spa would have issues would be more in my favor then against, its almost like buying a 2 year old car you do not take that thousands loss when you roll it off the lot, but still getting a deal with miles to spare, but i know there is a chance i could bye a lemon, but he purchased it with a 10 yr warranty, so he could resolve any issues before hand, even when its at my house, as so long as its done prior to sealing the deal, which at that moment the warranty would not be transfered. Does a spa have a title to it or do we write up a bill of sale? Is there companys that sell resale warranty packages for spas? Can someone tell me what the price of a maxxus spa now-a-days goes for new because the price i saw was close to 3 yrs ago, or have the price come down that much. There are a hand full of top of the line spa companys out there, and what i have seen sundance falls within them, so i would figure there top of the line would not be so lame as to last only two years. I would like to know what you guys feel would be a good price for this spa? After reading your posts, I loose nothing by asking the seller to allow me to get it running good prior to paying him all of price since i cant test it dry. What do you think?
  6. First let me start by saying hello to everyone. I am soon to be a spa owner and needless to say i am a rookie at this. I found myself a 880 maxxus spa for 6,000. It is 2years old and only used 1 year out of the two. The owner had to move to a condo so he put it in storage. I am Planning to drive up and see it this weekend so wish me luck. I guess i will be dropping by on a regular bases hoping you guys can get me up to speed. I Would like to self maintain if possible but i am already running into a mix bag of info concering what to use and not, what products clogs filters etc. Changing the the stock micro filter to a 6540-488, things like that. So i hope by reading the old post and chatting with you guys you lead me the right way, so my first spa is not a nightmare. Ok what do i look for when i go see it? Is keeping a spa stored without water a bad thing for seals and pumps or am i worrying to much since its only two years old. As by what i have been told it has all the goodys ipod station, pop up speakers, aroma therapy, etc but im more concerned with the machanics of it, theres no way to test it when its in dry storage. I am all ears guys and gals. Thank you in advance for any help in this.
