My concrete pool is 30+ years old and it needs painted approx. every 5 years which means draining, cleaning, acid washing and painting (allowing 3 to 5 days of good weather to dry.) I believe a vinyl liner would last 7 or so years and less headache. In Northwest Ohio we see all types of pools and I would also check into the one piece fiberglass pools. I have friends who have had very good luck with these.
