  1. No one even has an opinion? If this is legit, seems like a really good thing.
  2. Thanks, yes, it did eventually come in line and yes, I will change the water - likely next weekend. Just didn't have time now and wanted to not harm my plumbing... and want to use it this week too
  3. So this is the problem I was trying to solve when I found the http://www.clarityforspas.com/ website... I hadn't tested my water in a long time and noticed that my eyes burned when bathing so I tested... and notice that the pH was reading really low - basically off the scale. So I started adding pH up and it won't move - I've added about 2 oz so far. My spa is only 250 gals or so - a hotspring jetsetter. It IS time to change the water (right on 4 months since the last change) and I do plan to change it soon but don't have time to do it this weekend. Anything I can do?
  4. http://www.clarityforspas.com/ I was searching for some articles on pH and ran across this and it looked interesting... Wondering if anyone uses it?
  5. wow - am I missing something or are you guys making this harder than it needs to be?
  6. Cool - thanks. decided to just change it anyway so it's done. Just added the chemicals, etc. I'll do my best to stick to the every 4 months formula from now on
  7. Hi I've an older (1997) HotSpring Jetsetter and have been following the dealer's "EverFresh System" directions including an ionizer and silver ion cartridge. 1/2 scoop of chlorine free shock after each use and 1/4 scoop of chlorine weekly. Lately we've only been using it once or twice per week, sometimes even less. Do I still need to change the water and silver ion cartridge every 4 months? For example, it's been nearly 6 months since I've changed either and the water "seems" fine. Seems like a big waste of water to change it if it's not needed? Thanks! Jerry
  8. Heater works just fine - it was replaced about 2-3 months ago. Ozonator is new as well. All's working fine now but I suspect the circ pump may need to be cleaned or replaced in the near future.
  9. Cool - thanks. I'll likely take it apart and clean / check it out when I have time... I've read that the Silentflow 5000 has been replaced by the Silentflow E5 which uses less energy and pushes more water... http://www.backyardplus.com/proddetail.php?prod=74427 It might be worth the $140 or so to just replace it?
  10. Thanks!!!
  11. I was hoping to hear some opinions on if I should expect to have to replace the circ pump in the near future? If people think it's going bad or needs an overhaul, I'd either buy a replacement (maybe the newer version would be a good upgrade anyway as it moves more water than the old one I have) or be prepared to take out the current one and repair it. I'm gonna need some hose clamps so I don't have to drain the tub...
  12. Hey Peteyboy - would you be willing to explain why this is "pretty normal"? I'm one of those folks who likes to understand And the temp continues to be stable after replacing the equipment compartment cover. I'm also wondering, will I need to adjust the temp setting in the summer to keep the same water temp? Thanks everyone...
  13. Has anyone actually bought one from Costco? And I do have RHTUBS page open and had checked earlier but didn't recall the price. Yes, RHTUBS is $0.04 cheaper And I will definitely take that into consideration when I do buy a cover. And I won't buy the Costco one until I have enough data to compare it to the RHTUBS cover and others. For example, there's a local guy (I'm in Seattle) who sells covers but he was going to do some other work for me then flaked (never called me even tho I left him voice and e-mail messages). One nice thing about Costco is the cover purchase page doesn't require me to do any measuring other than to be sure the cover it selects for me is correct - I tell it the model and year of my tub and at least apparently, I get the right cover.
  14. I was reading the costco thread last night and it prompted me to go look at their offerings and I noticed they sell covers: http://www.costco.com/Browse/Productgroup....124&topnav= Seems like a decent cover for a good price - $320. I've been thinking of replacing the cover for my Hot Springs Jetsetter - it still has the original cover from 1997 Anything wrong with these from Costco?
  15. I have another couple of quick questions while I have your attention What should I use to attach my replacement siding piece to the tub? It's the horizontal piece above the door that I understand always falls off. Is "Gorilla Glue" OK? I have another post entitled "Ozone / Circ Pump Questions" - http://www.poolspaforum.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=23265 which I didn't get any replies to. I'm wondering if that all sounds normal too or should I expect the circ pump to go / need attention soon? Then a little thing - how do you get rid the bits of leaves (I assume) that collect on the bottom of the tub? I guess some sort of vacuum would work? Oh and I put the cover on the equipment compartment before I went to bed last night and just checked - the temp is back down to "normal". Cool. Thanks! Jerry
