Is anyone familiar with the FeherGuard Surface Rider II reel, and are they any good?
I saw a post somewhere that this reel might be somewhat flimsy though..
Hi everyone,
the season has started again and we're thinking about getting a solar cover
for our 15' round Intex metal frame AGP.
Does anyone know of a reel for the cover that would attach to this type of pool?
The frame is made of 1 3/4" round metal tubes, so there's not really a flat surface
to attach a reel base to.
Has anyone here done that?
Thanks!
Well, I used the Skooba vac this weekend for the first time and I must
say that I'm quite happy with it.
Even with just a 1000 gph pump it cleaned our pool pretty good.
The quality seems good, except for the flimsy pole which is made out of
four 3/4" aluminum pieces and doesn't feel very sturdy.
I rigged it to a spare pole made out of 1" aluminum with no problem.
Overall, I recommend this vacuum to anyone with a 15' or smaller AVG.
I paid $50 incl. shipping for it. Well woth it.
Can you tell which side I had vacuumed already?
How often do you clean the filters like that? Every time you swap them out?
After treating them with "Greased Lightning", do you just hose them off?
I'm wondering about residue of the cleaner getting into the pool water.
Anyways, I just bought a couple more filters and I can run a new one for
a week without the SWG complaining about low water pressure (aka dirty filter).
With the "just rinsed off with water" ones, I have to change them twice a week.
If I were that kid, I'd just make a new hole and grab the 50..
Anyways, we don't get snow were I live. I have to get in the car and drive
several hours to see some. Strange stuff..
Now, I'm still planning on draining the pool during our SoCal "winter".
So, is it OK to put the cover on in this case?
Pardon me if this is a dumb question, but why not put the cover on
if the pool is completely dried out?
This is our first season with a metal frame pool and I was planning
on draining it and putting the cover on in the "winter" (SoCal).
Not a good idea?
You are welcome.
The swg can't be put on a timer since it would lose it's programing when the
timer shuts it off. You will have to program it during a time when your pump is
running and keep it plugged in. That's just the way that thing works.
As far as test strips go (not for the salt, but chlorine, PH etc), I'd also recommend
AquaChek. See here: Test strips
We have a similar setup.
I only added cyanuric acid (aka "stabilizer" or "conditioner") to slow down the destruction of the chlorine
through the sunlight. This will make the chlorine last longer and you can run the swg for less than 3 hours
a day (or it will produce too much chlorine!). I'm running my pump for 6 hours at night. That seems fine.
And get the AquaChek salt test strips.
I hope this helps.
Same here!
I too got the Aquachecks today and they are a lot easier to read than the other brand
I used before. Nice! $8 shipped on eBay. Can't beat that!
Thanks for the tip, pathfinder!
